India, February 21, 2023: Dehradun-based leading multi-disciplinary university, UPES, has entered into the fourth year of its commitment towards female education with the ‘Shakti scholarship program. Meritorious female students will be awarded scholarships of up to 30% in tuition fees basis their marks in class 12 board exams. To become eligible for ‘Shakti scholarship, female students should score 60% and above marks.

Through the ‘Shakti’ scholarship, female students from Uttarakhand and across India can pursue higher education at UPES in various fields- engineering, computer science, law, health science, media, business, design, and liberal studies. UPES believes that it is only through quality higher education and access to opportunities, female students can progress from classrooms to the boardrooms. ‘Shakti’ scholarship is UPES’ endeavor in that direction.

Since 2020, UPES has offered the ‘Shakti’ scholarship to over 6000 female students across India including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand. Yashasvi Tiwari, a UPES student, shares that the monetary assistance received through ‘The Shakti scholarship has helped her a lot and made it easier to achieve her higher education dreams.

Besides ‘Shakti’, there are other scholarship programs at UPES that female students can apply for if they meet the eligibility criteria. Female students of Uttarakhand can apply for domicile scholarships. There are sports scholarships at UPES under ‘Project Vijaya’ for women who excel in one of these sports- cricket, football, athletics, shooting, chess, and table tennis. Female students from economically weaker sections of society can apply for freeships under ‘Project Jyoti’. These freeships include both tuition fees and hostel fees.

The 100cm show jumping event was won by Surya from madras race club followed by Nick Schreiber and GC Ahaan Kumar in 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

The tent pegging event was won by L/FDR Nilesh Yadav from OTA and Wasim Akram second from HINDUSTAN UNIVERSITY

Mumbai, 21 February 2023: Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL), a leading Indian cement manufacturer and a subsidiary of Dalmia Bharat Limited deployed its first fleet of LNG trucks today. DCBL has tied up with GreenLine Logistics (Green Planet Logistics Pvt Ltd.), India’s first and only LNG-fueled heavy trucking logistics company, for this significant initiative towards building a ‘green’ supply chain with an initial order of 35 trucks. The first lot of trucks have been deployed from its Chandrapur Plant in Maharashtra today. The next deployment of 25 trucks will be done from its plan in Tamil Nadu in April. The introduction of LNG and EV trucks is part of DCBL’S green logistics strategy for the decarbonization of its transportation fleet which accounts for around 1.5% of total CO2 equivalent emissions. Dalmia Cement plans to convert 10% of its existing fleet of 3,000 vehicles to the eco-friendlier LNG alternative transport by end of FY24. The current consignment is also one of the biggest for LNG trucks signed with GreenLine Logistics in the cement sector.

Dalmia Cement has employed two types of LNG trucks – trailer and bulker trucks, for the transportation of raw materials and bagged cement. These will cover the 50 – 600 km range for inbound and outbound logistics. GreenLine’s LNG trucks reduce CO2 emissions by ~28%, translating to an emission reduction of ~24 tons of CO2 per truck per annum, compared to conventional diesel trucks. Over the initial fleet of 35 LNG trucks, this adds up to a significant reduction of 840-ton CO2 per year. In addition, these LNG trucks significantly reduce other dangerous emissions – SOx emissions by up to 100%, NOx emissions by up to 59%, and Particulate Matter by up to 91%.

Commenting on this initiative, Company Spokesperson, DBL said, “Dalmia Cement has been following the business philosophy of Clean & Green is Profitable and Sustainable. Our overall CO2 emissions have come down from 670 kg per tonne to 467 kg per tonne – one of the lowest globally and we are focusing on realizing our carbon-negative goal by 2040. We are delighted to partner with GreenLine Logistics for further reduction of our carbon footprint and GHG emissions under the Scope 3 category.”

Commenting on the association, Shri Anand Mimani, CEO, of GreenLine, said, “We are proud to partner with Dalmia Cement in their emissions reduction journey by decarbonizing their heavy trucking and will be investing ~INR 250 cr to enable the transition of 10% of their fleet to LNG by March 2024. Reducing emissions from heavy trucking is crucial for corporates targeting net zero. GreenLine is enabling this through its fleet of LNG-powered heavy-duty trucks.”

Hyderabad, February 2023: In a first-of-its-kind initiative, NGO Helping Hand Foundation runs several Primary Health Care centers in collaboration with SEED-USA and mostly from 8 locations in the Urban Slums of the old city, launched a comprehensive mental health program for women from marginalized sections of the society in Old city.

As per a survey done by HHF, most women in the Urban slums of the Old city work as maids or as domestic help. Typically, women supplement or sometimes are sole bread earners in families with average 3 to 4 children to feed. They not only work outside but must cook and feed the family after coming back. This coupled with poverty and poor nutrition takes a toll on the physical & mental health of these women.

Mental health is both a stigma and taboo in the old city. Mental health issues are poorly understood and addressed due to low awareness levels and access to mainstream mental health services or treatment is very poor in the old city as per the survey done by NGO, Helping Hand Foundation.

The Primary Health Centre located in Masjid Mohammed Mustafa in Rajendranagar will be the first center from which the program will start and will be rolled out to other 6 centers in due course.

The primary health centers run by HHF, have been providing a wide range of healthcare services for the Urban Poor. The services encompass primary care, dental, Ophthal, mini trauma, ante, and post-natal care, apart from prevention of NCDs.

Mental Health will be an added dimension into the primary health care setting for the clinics run by HHF in Urban slums of the city and this has been strongly advocated by WHO in the Universal Health Coverage model.

HHF has tied up with GoodMind.app, a mental wellness platform incubated at EdVenture Park, India’s first student-focused startup incubator. GoodMind.app will provide a platform for mental health screening.

HHF Counsellors trained in mental health will be doing the screening and the therapy or counseling for the patients that show signs of mental health issues will be done by qualified clinical psychologists from HHF and GoodMind.app.

Many women and adolescents from weaker sections suffer from depression & anxiety disorders. Poverty, hardship in life, other health issues, matrimonial issues, domestic violence, and interpersonal family issues all add up to the situation and most need help said Ms. Saniya, Founder of GoodMind.app one of the partners in the program

30% of NCDs particularly diabetics and women with hormonal imbalances suffer from undiagnosed depression and anxiety as per a survey done by NGO.

The mental health screening app will evaluate a patient on a scale of 48 & will help the counselor identify the signs and symptoms of the mental health condition of the patient. Scores between 0-24 will be considered normal and 24-40 considered moderate and 40-48 severe.

We are targeting to screen 100 patients from each of our PHCs daily translating into 500 plus minimum and all cases of moderate to severe mental health will be counseled and treatment initiated wherever necessary said Mr. Mujtaba Hasan Askari, Helping Hand Foundation.

Bengaluru, February 21, 2023: Tata Motors, India’s leading automobile manufacturer and the pioneer of India’s EV evolution, today signed an MoU with Uber, India’s leading ridesharing app, to bring 25,000 XPRES–T EVs into their premium category service. Aligned towards its goal of a clean and green environment, Tata Motors will be aiding Uber in electrifying its services across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad. The Company will begin the deliveries of the cars to Uber fleet partners in a phased manner, starting this month.

Speaking at the MoU signing, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility said, “In line with our commitment to grow sustainable mobility in the country, we are delighted to partner with Uber, India’s leading ridesharing platform.
