UltraTech has seen an improvement in its overall position in India’s Most Sustainable Companies ranking. From being ranked No. 15 in 2021-22, the Company has improved two positions to No.13 in 2022-23. Epsilon Advanced Material to invest US$ 650 Million to establish EV Battery Components Facility in USA

Mumbai,27th June 2023: Epsilon Advanced Materials (EAM), India’s leading battery materials company, is planning to invest US$650 million in the USA. The company will establish a 50,000 TPA synthetic graphite anode manufacturing facility in the USA to supply high-capacity anode materials produced through green technologies. The proposed facility in the USA will provide critical battery materials to power more than 1 million Electric Vehicles. Currently, this synthetic graphite anode processing facility is the largest Indian investment in the US electric vehicle battery industry. This investment is directed towards building a strong US-India trade relationship and contributing towards creating cleaner and sustainable energy alternatives. The joint statement by President of the USA Joe Biden and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged Epsilon Advanced Materials’ investment in the USA.

EAM is currently evaluating multiple locations across the US for the proposed facility subject to regulatory approvals, environmental permitting, and state and local incentive agreements. It has already signed strategic supply agreements with local raw material suppliers and transport partners to create a seamless supply chain network with a focus on minimizing carbon emissions and reducing transportation costs. Through this facility, EAM will produce high-capacity synthetic anode materials, customized for specific cell chemistries. It is expected revenue to generate more than US$ 500 million at full capacity by 2031. EAM will generate more than 1500 direct & indirect employment opportunities at this facility. The facility is expected to be commissioned by 2026.

The Founder and Managing Director of Epsilon Advanced Materials, Mr. Vikram Handa says, “Our investment in the USA is driven by the intent of Energizing the World with clean energy solutions. The U.S. government has set up an ambitious goal for electric vehicles (EVs) with the vision to convert 50% of vehicle sales to electric by 2030 and generate 1000 GWh of battery capacity. With this facility, EAM will contribute to the U.S. EV roadmap by ensuring a local supply chain for EV batteries. The facility will contribute to the U.S. Government’s mandate of critical mineral security.

With the rapid growth of the electric vehicle (EV) market and the increasing demand for renewable energy sources, the requirement for critical minerals such as graphite has increased in recent years. Graphite shortages are expected to rise in the coming years, with a global supply deficit of 777,000 tons expected by 2030. As per Benchmark Mineral Intelligence Report, about $12 billion of investment is needed 2030 in graphite by 2035 to meet the growing demand.

The US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) presented a significant opportunity for India’s booming chemical industry to convert minerals into battery materials and reduce dependence on China. As the US mandates that sourcing critical battery materials from China will not qualify for the $7500 credit per EV, US automakers were seeking alternative countries to acquire these critical battery materials. Seizing the opportunity, EAM with this investment, intends to support energy transitions in the US and India, as strong trade partners.

Meta & Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Partner To Upskill 1 Million Traders

Chennai, 27th June 2023 On the occasion of World MSME Day on June 27th, Meta has reiterated its commitment to the growth of India’s small businesses by announcing two new skilling programs in the country. Meta announced a new partnership with the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) to upskill 1 million traders on the WhatsApp Business App over the next three years.

The company has also announced the launch of Meta Small Business Academy, which was born out of Meta’s commitment in 2021 to up-skill 10 million small businesses. A certification by Meta Small Business Academy will especially help new entrepreneurs and marketers gain critical digital marketing skills to grow on the Meta apps. To enable the program to reach MSMEs across India, the course module and the examination are available in seven languages – English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu.

A Meta commissioned survey by IPSOS Public Affairs done in 2022 showed that 91% of surveyed small and medium enterprises currently using digital tools in India reported that messaging apps and tools are a very important way to connect with customers, and more than half said that WhatsApp has helped their business increase access to new customers. With WhatsApp becoming a natural way for people to interact with one another, it’s emerging as a preferred medium for people to also connect with businesses.
