Extending Beyond Maternity Care: MomStory by Sahyadri Hospitals’ Community-Focused Initiatives

Pune – 8th June 2024 – In a heart-warming celebration of MomStory’s 2nd Anniversary, Sahyadri Hospitals successfully hosted the MomStory Pregnancy Carnival, where the hospital not only honored expectant mothers but also highlighted the completion of its impactful community support projects in Pune. The event, graced by celebrity guest Bipasha Basu, drew a large crowd of expecting parents, reflecting the community’s strong engagement with the hospital’s initiatives.

On the occasion of MomStory’s 2nd Anniversary, the focus was placed on emphasizing the dietary needs of pregnant women. These initiative addresses the crucial aspects of nutrition during and after pregnancy, significantly affecting both maternal well-being and the health of their newborn children. The health and nutrition of pregnant women affect the baby’s development in the womb and their growth after birth. Very often, the right nutrition and the required quality are not available to these women in rural/distant areas, causing many deficiencies in health and complications during and post-birth to both the mother and child.

At the carnival, attendees experienced a mix of education, excitement, and community engagement. Bipasha Basu shared her parenting experiences and took part in heart-to-heart conversations with the participants, adding a personal touch to the festivities. Dr. Mahima Bakshi, a Maternal Child Wellness Consultant and Brand Consultant to MomStory by Sahyadri Hospitals, reinforced the hospital’s dedication to motherhood wellness, stating, “Our commitment at MomStory by Sahyadri Hospitals is to nurture health and happiness right from the beginning of motherhood. Today’s celebration also serves as a platform to further our community support through new CSR initiatives, focusing on the dietary needs of pregnant women along with post birth wellness needs of new mothers and children which are crucial for good health in the society and future of the community.”

Navkaran Singh Kang, Assistant Vice President at Sahyadri Hospitals & MomStory by Sahyadri Hospitals, detailed these initiatives, “We are thrilled to join hands with local Anganwadi and ASHA workers to provide nutritional advice to expecting mothers and the ASHA workers who would guide them forward along with special ladoos that assist with post-delivery recovery and improve breast milk nutrition at the very least. Our visit to Maher orphanage was particularly fulfilling, where our doctors engaged with the children through games and activities, and distributed snack boxes, sweets, and gifts as a mother would. It was a day of joy and meaningful community interaction. Our initiative aims to benefit 2000 ASHA workers and approximately 3000-4500 expecting and new mothers over the next 6 months of the Indapur & Solapur track of Hadapsar belt in Pune.”

The carnival featured a lively Zumba session, a maternity photo booth with fun props, and zones dedicated to fashion and style, making the day both entertaining and informative for all attendees. The atmosphere was further enlivened with lucky draws and special giveaways.

Bipasha Basu expressed her delight at participating, saying, “It’s a privilege to celebrate such a special day with so many inspiring mothers. The strength and joy of motherhood are evident in each story shared here. I am excited to see how our continued efforts will support and empower mothers across the community.”

Through the Momstory Pregnancy Carnival, Sahyadri Hospitals not only celebrated motherhood but also affirmed its commitment to nurturing the community, ensuring that the journey of motherhood is supported with utmost care and compassion. The hospital looks forward to sustaining these efforts and fostering stronger community connections in the future, with a specific emphasis on the health and nutrition of women in underserved areas.

Climate finance critical in climate change solutions, India has opportunity to play a critical role, says Dastur Energy

Mumbai, 7th June, 2024: Recognizing the fact that G20 nations contribute to more than 80% of worldwide emissions, with India being the 3rd largest contributor only behind USA & China, Dastur Energy Pvt Limited which is a prominent player in the clean energy sector, has outlined its views on how the country can influence global climate change efforts. While proactive engagement and collaboration across developed and emerging economies are crucial for combating climate challenges, the Texas-based clean energy technology leader believes that India will have to play a larger role by shaping strategies and climate financing alternatives that are relevant across the international climate action landscape.

Presenting the firm’s views on how India holds a distinct opportunity to influence climate finance measures globally, Mr. Atanu Mukherjee, CEO, President, of Dastur Energy Pvt Ltd. elaborated, “The climate change battle requires massive financial commitments, with estimates suggesting that the worldwide transition to net zero needs about $275 Trillion over the next 27 years, or about $10 trillion a year. For a country like India though, more than $2.5 trillion of investments will be required by 2030 to fulfil its ambitious climate mitigation goals of reducing the country’s carbon emissions and intensity by 1 billion tonnes and 45% respectively.

This translates to roughly $170 billion worth of investments required per year till 2030, even as India is able to fulfil only about 25% of its current need across different sectors. While climate related foreign direct investment (FDI) has soared over the past decade, India needs to tap into its domestic financial institutions to raise funds and channel overseas resources into its fight against climate change. We believe that there are several opportunities in this regard and India needs to innovate new-age financial solutions, with the country’s commercial banks and development financial institutions playing a pivotal role in accelerating the transition to net-zero carbon emissions.”

Dastur Energy also highlights the increasingly important role of Corporate India in this journey, stressing the need for greater participation in the domestic carbon market, potentially leveraging a cap-and-trade system for carbon credits to incentivise companies to reduce their carbon emissions. As Mr. Mukherjee noted, “An increased focus on supporting technology and innovation is the need of the hour in the Indian context.

This needs to be supported by increased investments in renewables, wide-spread adoption of sustainable practices and implementation of energy-efficient technologies & systems across carbon-intensive industries and sectors. Parallelly, more work can be done in enhancing carbon pricing, mobilizing development banks and encouraging private finance for better climate action support. The aim should be to amplify collaboration both domestically and with the international community; aligning goals across nations and improving access to funds so as to achieve equitable distribution amongst developing nations.”

As part of the G20 global alliance, India undoubtedly has significant responsibilities in climate change mitigation and will have to envisage ingenious climate finance solutions that can coalesce the financial support necessary to meet its 2070 net-zero target. The country will have to leverage its participation in larger global forums and summits to share its unique challenges and strategies, taking care to address its own climate change imperatives while also helping shape global policies.

Dastur Energy remains convinced that India holds a distinct opportunity to influence global climate finance measures by virtue of the country’s multidimensional strategies in creating opportunities and resolving challenges in the climate financing space. Considering its overall experience and steadfast commitment to climate action, India could emerge as a major force in global efforts and serve as a beacon for the global community in the battle against climate change.

Through this initiative, Mamaearth will include complimentary seed samples with close to 30,000 orders delivered through Swiggy Instamart on World Environment Day. Mamaearth chose to collaborate with Swiggy Instamart to leverage its extensive reach and engage a wide audience, promoting sustainability and eco-conscious living on a larger scale.

The brand believes that goodness starts with the small choices we make every day, and this is reflected in the choices the brand has made with its products and initiatives like Plant Goodness where every order made on the website results in a tree being planted on behalf of the consumer. This initiative aims to promote afforestation, support farmer livelihoods, and foster sustainable coexistence with nature. The brand has been in a constant endeavor to serve consumers and society and make the world a better place.

Anuja Mishra, EVP, and Chief Marketing Officer, Honasa Consumer Limited comments; “At Mamaearth, we believe in the power of doing good to drive meaningful change. In collaboration with an NGO and farmers for agroforestry, these trees have been planted in farmlands across Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana. The saplings planted are fruit-bearing trees that help farmers increase income opportunities with the produce from these trees. The agroforestry approach doesn’t use the entire agricultural land, and the farmers continue to do their farming along with creating an orchard. This helps in creating carbon sinks in agricultural fields, thus moving towards the target of ‘Net Zero Carbon’. The brand has also created positive environmental changes, including the sequestration of 250,000 tons of carbon and the production of 500,000 tons of oxygen each year while greening 3,500 acres of land.

HDFC Mutual Fund Launches Campaign GenerationRestoration to Combat Climate Change

Mumbai, 7th June 2024:Reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability, HDFC Mutual Fund has launched the 4th edition of its NurtureNature campaign. Through this campaign, the company focuses on water conservation through lake restoration. This year’s initiative, titled¬¬¬¬¬¬¬Generation Restoration, is a long-term effort dedicated to fighting climate change and its devastating impacts. Under NurtureNature 4.0 – Generation Restoration, HDFC Mutual Fund will restore the water holding capacity of an old lake for every digitally registered SIP during the campaign period, aiming to rejuvenate and restore an existing lake. From June 5th to June 11th, 2024, any new SIPs registered digitally or online of a minimum of Rs. 2,500 per month for at least 3 years in eligible equity and gold schemes, the fund house will contribute towards restoring a 5,000-litre water holding capacity in an old lake. The aim is to rejuvenate and restore the water holding capacity of an existing lake, providing a sustainable water source for villagers, agricultural activities, and environmental preservation.

Commenting on this socially responsible initiative, Mr. Navneet Munot, MD & CEO of HDFC Asset Management Company Ltd., said, “Global warming is an existential threat to humanity. As the world grapples with deforestation, rapid urbanization, environmental degradation, and groundwater depletion, we must take immediate action.
