MARS Premier League: A New Beauty Talent Hunt by MARS Cosmetics

24th June 2025, New Delhi : MARS Cosmetics, India’s fastest-growing beauty brand, proudly joins the Bollywood Hungama Style Icons Awards 2025 as the Official Beauty Sponsor. To mark the occasion, the brand also launched MARS Premier League, an online beauty competition inviting talent from across India to display their makeup skills . The winner, Ms. Anupreet from Delhi, won ₹100,000 in prize money, an opportunity to walk the red carpet at the Bollywood Hungama Style Icon Awards, and a meet-and-greet session with Varun Dhawan.

From the start of MARS Cosmetics’ core value of “Makeup for Everyone,” the MARS Premier League, a platform where in competition winners had the opportunity to express their imagination in a fast-paced vehicle similar to sport. The competitors were invited to represent one of eight IPL sets, each to be matched against the City Paradise Eyeshadow Palettes, by designing dramatic make-up art infused with the atmosphere and the spirit of their cities.

Rishabh Sethia, Director and Business Administrator at MARS Cosmetics  “We’re always looking at opportunities to pair beauty with moments in culture that truly resonate with our fans. The IPL is a sporting event, of course, but it’s also a celebration of passion, community, and high-level energy. We brought that same energy into the world of makeup with the MARS Premier League. It was not competition; it was a moment for creativity, for self-expression, and for everything glamorous.”

The competition assessed participants in four rounds, with the first three rounds done online and open to all competitors from across the country. Not only could the fans vote for their favorite, but it was an overall extremely interactive competition. The final round was offline and consisted of creators and influencers, as well as a jury of experts, including Aditi Dubey, Vandana Sehgal, and Anupreet

To celebrate the colorful diversity of India, the MARS Paradise Eyeshadow Palette takes inspiration from the rich hues of cultures in various regions. Like the Mars Premier League competition, which opened its doors to talent from all over the country without borders, the palette embodies the spirit, energy, and uniqueness of India. Every carefully crafted shade tells a distinct story, with customers able to unleash their individual expression and still identify with a broader cultural tapestry. With particular color palettes drawn from different Indian cities, Mars not just respected local notions of beauty but also bridged emotions, helping individuals across the country feel seen and appreciated.

While MARS remains quiet about whether it will make the MARS Premier League an annual event, triumph in this very first year has already set a new benchmark for beauty marketing that harmonizes cultural sensitivity, entertainment, and mutual social connection in just the same way that MARS can.

Robots Might Be the Key to Independent Senior Living

June 23, 2025: More people are living longer. And most want to live independently as they age, in their own home. That hope frequently runs into challenges. Loneliness impacts the well-being of older people. Physical limitations make it harder to do chores and socialize outside the home. Memory issues can lead to missed appointments and failure to take needed medications.

Today, many of these challenges are met with the help of part-time home health aides. But the number of seniors continues to grow. In 2020 there were more people over 60 years-old than there were children under the age of five, according to the World Health Organization. By 2050, the proportion of the world’s population over 60 years old will nearly double what it was in 2015, from 12% to 22%.

IEEE Senior Member Ralf Ma explained that a growing senior population means as they retire, there’s a greater need to care for them, but a smaller workforce: “An aging population is one of the major challenges that humanity faces,” he said. “Artificial intelligence improves social productivity and fundamentally solves the problem of a decreasing labor force. Future household robots can also solve the problem of elderly care in their later years.”

The idea of robots for elder care has been discussed for years. IEEE Spectrum, for example, showed how a semi-autonomous robotic table could help older people maintain independence by simply carrying things for them.

Adding AI to Robotics

As artificial intelligence has advanced, there is increasing interest in using it to interface with robots. Because of advances in natural language processing, people regularly talk to smartphones and electronic devices that can now respond using generative AI. Shouldn’t robots be able to do the same thing?

Other advances might make it easier for robots to recognize objects in their environment or move within it.

“In the future, robots might remind them to take medicine, help with daily tasks and keep them company. They also notice emergencies and call for help when needed, making life safer and easier for seniors,” said IEEE Senior Member Márcio Teixeira.

Robots might also be able to receive data from sensors worn by the people they care for.

“Caregiving robots will also be able to monitor health using sensors and track vital changes to provide emergency services in real time when a problem has been identified,” said IEEE Graduate Student Member Haonan Guo.

A Cure for Loneliness?

One hope is that robots can have in-depth conversations with the people they care for, thus alleviating some of the loneliness that comes with living alone.

And the idea of talking to robots isn’t as strange as one might think. The first ever chatbot, called Eliza, was built with 200 lines of code close to 60 years ago, and it was designed to simulate the experience of going to a therapist.

The program was effective enough. Its designer, Massachusetts Institute of Technology computer scientist Joseph Weizenbaum, was often concerned because “during the brief interactions with Eliza, many users began forming emotional attachments to the algorithm. They would open up to the machine and confess problems they were facing in their lives and relationships.”

The evolution of chatbots has progressed significantly, and there are already several devices on the market that use generative AI to serve as conversational chatbots or emotional support robots.

But so far, robotics isn’t advanced enough to have an all-in-one general purpose robot that can help with chores. Once there is, however, it’s only a matter of time before the robot is also given conversational capabilities.

Ryan International Academy and Rotary Club Plant 1,200 Saplings Across Bengaluru in Major Green Initiative

Bengaluru, 23 June 2025: In a move to foster environmental stewardship among the youth, Ryan International Academy partnered with Rotary Bangalore Orchards for a massive tree-planting drive across four of its Bengaluru campuses. Notable Rotarians and Ryan students, as part of the ‘Each One, Plant One’ program, planted over 1,200 fruit-bearing saplings this week. For students, it was an experiential lesson on ecological responsibility.

Ryan

The programme aligns with the 12-point vision of Dr AF Pinto, Chairman of the Ryan Group of Institutions, derived from the international theme “Our Land. Our Future. We are #GenerationRestoration,” highlighting the strength of afforestation and environmental restoration in prevention of climate change and land degradation. The plantation drives were conducted at Ryan International Academy campuses at Sarjapur, Kanakapura Road, Magadi Road, and Horamavu. Ryan Group will take this partnership with Rotary Club on a national scale across all its schools.

This massive greening effort was made possible by the support of Rotary Bangalore Orchards, with all 1,200 saplings generously donated by Mr. Ravishankar Dakoju. Each student is entrusted to caring and nurturing a sapling — increasing personal ownership and ecological consciousness on the part of the students.

A variety of fruit-bearing saplings were planted, including 200 each of Laxman Phal, Mango, Jamun, and Jackfruit, along with 100 each of Seethaphal, Guava, Gooseberry and Rose Apple.

The events were a collaborative community affair, with eight Rotarians participating across the four campuses. The activity at the Horamavu campus was attended by students, staff, and two distinguished Rotarians, including Mr. Neil Michael Joseph, who participated at all the four campuses.

Mr. Neil Michael Joseph, a green leader, social entrepreneur, and Director of Bhagirathi Group and Happiness in Transit, said: “While we are in the transport business, we are contributing to pollution, so we asked ourselves, how do we reduce our carbon footprint? And that led us to plants. As a Rotarian, I care about environmental renewal. What Ryan is doing with Each One, Plant One is truly visionary—getting children involved in tree planting creates a long-term emotional and ethical connection to nature.

I’m especially impressed with the idea of entrusting children with nurturing saplings—what a beautiful way to grow both a child and a tree together. We at Rotary are restoring 1,500 acres of barren land in Challakere as Dakoju Rotary Forest. We are happy to spread the same here, and we commit to taking this initiative to more cities.”

The plantation drive was a live classroom, where children learned about how trees clean the air, prevent soil erosion, and support biodiversity. Children also took a Green Pledge to take care of their sapling and embrace sustainable practices such as water conservation and plastic reduction.

This project underscores Ryan Group’s abiding commitment to integrating academic excellence with environmental values. As the plants find root, so does a deeper awareness among students of their place in preserving Earth for generations to come.
