Mr. Siddharth Chaturvedi from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation highlighted Arya’s proactive approach to action, stating, “Reflection and action are crucial, and gatherings like Rith are essential. Adaptation is constant and applies universally, especially in the context of climate change—it is at the core of Arya’s ethos. The language of adaptation must shift from beneficiaries to encompass business people who are both producers and consumers.”

Mr. Raman Wadhwa, Director of DAY-NRLM at the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, emphasised the importance of collaboration in driving climate action. “Collaboration is key to making our efforts more climate-resilient. No one can tackle this alone; we need multi stakeholder partnerships to drive climate action. The climate crisis is an urgent threat, and the economic cost will be enormous if we don’t act. However, we can turn this challenge into an opportunity,” he said.

Ms. Sangeeta Dawar from Bayer Crop Science stressed the need for substantial funding to drive large-scale market transformation. “Climate change is one of the greatest challenges we all face today, and substantial funding is required to drive large-scale market transformation. According to a global survey of 2,000 farmers, 75% recognize the reality of climate change and agree that adaptation is necessary,” she said.

Mr. Subhadeep Sanyal from Omnivore highlighted the urgency of implementing new solutions in the agriculture sector. “In agriculture, if we don’t prioritise sustainability in relation to nature, it will directly impact our assets and, consequently, the market. Economic sustainability is a key factor for us when evaluating investments, with our focus being on increasing farmers’ income and providing them better access to finance,” he said.

Karnataka Government Launches Landmark Initiative to Eliminate Cervical Cancer

The Government of Karnataka’s Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, in partnership with the Karnataka chapter of ECHO India, OBGYNs, and several non-governmental organizations, has officially launched ‘Accelerating Cervical Cancer Elimination – CCE: The Karnataka Movement’. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India sells 5,83,633 units in September’24

Mumbai, 05 October 2024: Continuing the year on a high note with positive momentum and double-digit growth at the onset of festive season, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today announced its overall sales for the month of September 2024.

During the month, the company’s overall dispatches stood at 5,83,633 units, registering 11% YoY growth. This includes domestic sales of 5,36,391 units and 47,242 units exports. The domestic sales registered 9% YoY growth while the exports grew by a massive 34% over the same period of last year.

It is worth mentioning that HMSI’s YTD April – September 2024 domestic sales are 28,81,419 units and exports stood at 2,76,958 units.

Markapuram Resident Thrives After Innovative Glaucoma Surgery at Maxivision KPHB 4

Hyderabad – In a groundbreaking medical development at Maxivision Super Speciality Eye Hospital, Mrs. Subbulu resident of Markapuram, has become one of the first patients to undergo a cutting-edge glaucoma surgery, known as KDB Excisional Goniotomy, along with cataract surgery. Mrs. Subbulu had been suffering from Pigmentary Glaucoma in both eyes and was on three anti-glaucoma medications for the past 1.5 years. While her left eye had already been operated on for cataract, her right eye had significant cataract development. Living away from her children made it difficult for her to manage her medication schedule, which required administering eye drops three times a day for both eyes.

Taking these challenges into consideration, Dr. Harshitha recommended a KDB Excisional Goniotomy in conjunction with cataract surgery for her right eye. This minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) aims to stabilize intraocular pressure (IOP) while reducing or potentially eliminating the need for glaucoma drops for up to 5–10 years. After extensive counseling with Mrs. Subbulu and her family, they agreed to proceed with the surgery.

On October 2, 2023, the first-ever KDB Excisional Goniotomy combined with cataract surgery A at Maxivison was successfully performed. The results were remarkable, and Mrs. Subbulu has been free from glaucoma drops in her right eye for nearly a year.

Recently, impressed by the positive outcome, Mrs. Subbulu opted for the same procedure on her left eye, which was performed by Dr. Harshitha on September 11, 2024.

“My quality of life improved significantly after the right eye surgery, and once I was convinced that this new procedure effectively reduces intraocular pressure, I decided to have it done for my left eye as well,” said Mrs. subbulu.

Her son, who was closely involved in her care, added, “Dr. Harshitha patiently explained the benefits of the new glaucoma procedure over traditional surgeries, and we are glad we chose this option for both of my mother’s eyes.”

Highlighting the significance of this procedure, Dr. K.
