Noida, September 9, 2024 — Noida International University (NIU) celebrated its Foundation Day in conjunction with Teacher’s Day, marking a significant milestone in its journey of excellence in education. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Vikram Singh, Chancellor of NIU, who served as the Chief Guest. The celebrations were held on the university campus with great enthusiasm and participation from students, faculty, and staff.

The event began with a heartfelt video presentation that highlighted NIU as the dream project of its founders, showcasing the university’s roadmap and achievements over the years. This powerful visual journey set the tone for the day’s celebrations, emphasizing the vision and dedication that have driven NIU to its current standing.

Dr. Vikram Singh, Chancellor of NIU said, “We can only grow together, and it is through our collective efforts that we can achieve new heights. Adding to the day’s cultural richness, the event featured a Saraswati Vandana, a traditional invocation to the goddess of wisdom, followed by a vibrant musical performance by the university’s student group. These performances showcased the students’ talents infused the celebration with a sense of joy and reverence.

Tablets were distributed to selected students under a government scheme, symbolizing NIU’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and empowering its students with the tools necessary for modern education. This initiative was one of the highlights of the event, further solidifying NIU’s role in fostering educational equity.

The day was made even more memorable with active participation from the students, who showcased their talents and made the event insightful, fun, and engaging. To recognize excellence in teaching and research, awards were presented to the most outstanding faculty members. The Best Teacher Award, Best Researcher Award, and Best Non-Teaching Awards were given to distinguished professors and staff members, setting an example for the future leaders of the nation.

Roorkee, Uttarakhand, 6th September 2024: The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), an institution with a rich legacy of 177 years, celebrated Teachers’ Day with grandeur at the OP Jain Auditorium, Department of Civil Engineering. The event paid homage to the late Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a visionary educator and the second President of India. The celebration was graced by the presence of Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, Prof. U.P. Singh, Deputy Director, Prof. Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Dean of Faculty Affairs, along with other esteemed Deans, Associate Deans, and Heads of Departments.

On this special occasion, IIT Roorkee recognized and honored faculty members who have demonstrated outstanding dedication and excellence in teaching and research. These awards underscore the institute’s commitment to fostering academic brilliance and innovation, which have been the hallmarks of IIT Roorkee throughout its long and illustrious history.

Undergraduate (UG) Category:

· Prof. Shiv Kumar Gupta, Department of Mathematics (more than 80 students)

· Prof. Nikhil Kumar Singh, Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering (31-80 students)

· Prof. Sudheer Kumar Tiwari, Department of Earth Sciences (Young Faculty, 31 or more students)

Postgraduate (PG) Category:

· Prof. Gopinath Packirisamy, Department of Biosciences & Bioengineering (10 or more students)

· Prof. Sourabh Arora, Department of Management Studies (Young Faculty, 10 or more students)

Lifetime Teaching Achievement Award:

· Prof. Pradeep Kumar, Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering

In addition, Prof. Manil T. Mohan, Department of Mathematics, was honored with the Prof. Bal Krishna Outstanding Teacher Award (2024), while Prof. Yogesh Kumar Sharma, Department of Physics, received the Ramkumar Prize for Outstanding Teaching & Research (2024).

IIT Roorkee also recognized the efforts of those faculty members who featured in the top five in various UG and PG categories but did not receive awards. As a token of appreciation for their exemplary work, these faculty members will be given appreciation letters acknowledging their significant contributions to the institute’s academic environment.

The two-day event saw participants indulge in various activities designed to honour and celebrate the invaluable contributions of teachers. Attendees wrote letters to their favourite teachers, crafted personalized bookmarks, and engaged in magnet design and letter colouring sessions.
