Telangana Launches India’s First Resuscitation Academy

Hyderabad, March 14, 2025: EMRI Green Health Services (EMRI GHS) has established India’s first Resuscitation Academy at its national headquarters in Hyderabad. This academy is the first of its kind in the country, dedicated to excellence in resuscitation training, joining 30 other countries in the world.

Dr. GV Ramana Rao, Director, Emergency Medicine Learning Centre (EMLC) & Research at EMRI set the tone for the inaugural. The 108 emergency ambulance services operated by EMRI till date have attended to over 30 crore emergencies, saving 80 lakh lives and assisting 7.5 lakh deliveries in their ambulances.

R V Karnan, Commissioner of Health & Family Welfare, MD-NHM, CEO Arogyasri Trust, Govt of Telangana was the chief guest and formally announced the launch of the same on Thursday.

DR GV RAMANA RAO_RV KARNAN_ SUBODH SATYAWADI AND OTRHERS ARE SEEN AT THE INAUGURATION OF RESUSCITATION ACADEMY INDIA

Speaking on the occasion, Karnan highlighted that Telangana has better ambulance availability than the national average. While the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare recommends a ratio of one Basic Life Support (BLS) and one Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance per 100,000 people, Telangana currently has one ambulance for every 64,500 people. The goal is to further improve this ratio to one ambulance per 50,000 people.

The senior officer emphasized the critical need for Trauma Care to be delivered within the Golden Hour to improve patient outcomes. With support from the World Bank, Telangana is working to enhance its healthcare infrastructure by setting up 100 trauma care centres, aiming to strengthen emergency medical response capabilities. He also highlighted the significance of training and awareness, particularly in CPR, noting that all police personnel in the state, along with 50,000 civilians, have been trained in life-saving techniques.

R V Karnan emphasized the need for Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs), a portable life-saving device that assess heart rhythm and deliver an electric shock to restore normal heartbeat, especially during sudden cardiac arrest—to be widely accessible, including in public places. He also stressed that all educational institutions should conduct CPR training programs. Additionally, he suggested fostering Public-Private Partnerships to enhance emergency care services.

Subodh Satyawadi, President of EMRI GHS, in his opening remarks reflected on the organization’s journey. What began as a small initiative in 2005 with just a few ambulances has now expanded into a fleet of over 17,000 ambulances. Today, EMRI GHS is recognized as a trusted name in safety and quality pre-hospital care. Through various projects, its emergency response services now cater to nearly one billion people across the country. Mr. Subodh envisions Resuscitation Academy to be platform that will be a beacon of knowledge, innovation and impact in the area of resuscitation education and training in India for years to come.

Ms. Ann Michelle Doll, Executive Director of the Resuscitation Academy Foundation, USA; Prof. (Dr.) Marcus, Director of the Unit for Prehospital Emergency Care, Ministry of Health, Government of Singapore; and Mr. Tore Laerdal from the Laerdal Foundation also graced the occasion. Each of them addressed the gathering, sharing their insights on the occasion.

A demonstration of bystander CPR and high-performance CPR was conducted. Shri Vital Rao from Nirmal town, a CPR survivor, shared his experience, recalling how the 108 Ambulance Service saved his life, expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the team.

The Resuscitation Academy in India (RAI) has been established in partnership with the Global Resuscitation Alliance (GRA). Its primary objective is to enhance cardiac arrest survival rates in India.

India has reported approximately 1.2 million cases of sudden cardiac arrest, yet awareness of CPR remains critically low at just 2%. Additionally, instances of bystander CPR are rare. These alarming statistics underscore the urgent need for enhanced resuscitation strategies. In response to this challenge, the Resuscitation Academy was established.

To mark the occasion, the Inaugural Leadership Workshop of the Resuscitation Academy was held at the EMRI GHS Campus. The two day residential workshop began on Thursday, bringing together over 75 participants. Attendees include practising doctors from institutions like NIMS and Apollo, government health officials, subject matter experts and other key leaders in the field.

The workshop is designed to support the implementation of the Global Resuscitation Alliance (GRA) 10 Steps, recognized as the gold standard for enhancing cardiac arrest survival rates worldwide. The RAI believes that the effective implementation of these ten steps will help improve Return of Spontaneous Circulation in cardiac arrest cases in target regions in India from 2% to 10% by 2030.

Unit for Prehospital Emergency Care (UPEC), Ministry of Health, Government of Singapore, is the technical partner to the workshop under the aegis of Global Resuscitation Alliance

Baroda BNP Paribas Mutual Fund Celebrates Three Years of Over 100% Growth in Assets Under Management

Mumbai, 14th March 2025: Baroda BNP Paribas Asset Management India Private Limited (‘Baroda BNP Paribas AMC’), has more than doubled its Assets Under Management (AUM) from over Rs 21,000 crore to over Rs 49,000 crore in just three years. This milestone has been achieved by a significant expansion in investment capabilities and reach, reinforcing its position as a leading asset management company in India’s mutual fund industry.

The growth in our AUM over the past 3-years has been supported by strong investment performance. A key driver of the company’s success has been its strategic investment in human capital and processes. The investment management team has more than doubled. This coupled with well-defined investment process, guard-rails, robust risk control and portfolio monitoring has allowed us to help create wealth for investors. Over this period, Baroda BNP Paribas Mutual Fund has broadened its product suite by over 50%, covering active and passive investing, equity, debt, hybrid, multi-asset, thematic, and sectoral funds investing in India and overseas.

“As an organization focussed on serving investors and partners in not just ‘India’, but ‘Bharat’ too, we now have investors from 90% of all pin codes in the country,” said Suresh Soni, CEO, Baroda BNP Paribas Asset Management India Private Limited. We have seen strong growth in our distribution network which includes leading banks, national distributors, certified financial planners, SEBI registered investment advisors among others. We believe our continued focus on investment performance along with increasing distribution and reach should help us double our AuM again over the next 3 years. Our mission is to empower investors nationwide to participate in immense potential of India’s economic growth and financial markets. We are committed to foster prosperity across India and Bharat as part of our brand promise of ‘Together for More’. said Mr Soni.

“Several of our funds are among the top performers in their respective categories. Our focus remains on aiming to deliver consistent returns, generating alpha, and creating wealth for investors across short, medium, and long-term horizons,” said Sanjay Chawla, CIO – Equity, Baroda BNP Paribas AMC. The performance has been driven by research-backed investment strategies and robust processes across multiple asset classes.

In addition to domestic markets, the AMC has also seen significant success in attracting foreign flows into India. The fund house has successfully raised offshore equity funds from institutional and retail investors in Europe, South Korea, and Japan. “Despite recent trends of FIIs outflows from India, our offshore funds’ AUM has doubled from $220 million to $460 million over the past three years. Global investors, including pension funds and family offices, recognize India’s strong economic potential and are looking to make long term allocations to this market,” said Jayesh Gandhi, Head – Offshore Advisory & AIF, Baroda BNP Paribas AMC.

“With the onset of rate cut and regular liquidity easing measures, we expect interest rates domestically to have a downward bias in FY26.This has opened up opportunity for investors to benefit from spread compression and bull steepening of the yield curve. This should lead to greater investor participation in Fixed Income funds. Over past 2 years, Baroda BNP Paribas Mutual Fund has been increasing its exposure to REITs and INViTs in various funds. This segment offers interesting opportunities for investors, and we expect it to grow significantly in future.” said Prashant Pimple, CIO – Fixed Income, Baroda BNP Paribas AMC.

The AMC is also working to attract investment in the offshore fund space by leveraging its retail license from the International Financial Services Authority (IFSCA) in GIFT City, India’s international financial hub. “This license will allow us to play a role in realizing PM Modi’s vision of turning GIFT city into an international financial services centre, rivalling regional peers in Asia and the middle east,” Mr. Soni concluded.

Animela, India’s First International Animation Festival, Showcases IIAD’s Award-Winning Animations

As India’s animation scene comes into its own, a new generation is pushing the boundaries of storytelling. This past week, the Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD) became among the voices shaping that future at Animela, India’s first international festival dedicated to Animation, VFX, Gaming, Comics and XR. Hosted at IDC, IIT Bombay (March 7–9), the festival brought together a global network of artists, animators and industry veterans to explore the shifting possibilities of animation as a medium.

For IIAD, the festival is an opportunity to showcase the evolving vocabulary of its students, whose films have been officially selected for screening. These films, developed under the mentorship of Shaaz Ahmed (Associate Professor, IIAD), were among the works selected for the festival.

The Day My Dad Arrives – Sreeram Jayaram

Rooted in Sreeram’s personal experiences, this award-winning film unfolds an emotional journey, chronicling the longing of a young boy eagerly awaiting his Gulf migrant worker father’s return. The film was initially a major design project (MDP) titled “Personal Narratives”which gradually evolved from audio stories into a visually compelling 2D animated magnum opus. In the past it has been awarded the Animation Xpress ANN Award 2023 for Best Student Film category.

Patangarh Ka Hero | Animation Film on Gond Art | Documentary Film | IIAD

Nanki Ghuman’s film is a cinematic mixed-media experiment that reimagines Gond art for contemporary viewers. Using Adobe After Effects to animate hand-drawn illustrations alongside real-world footage and pixelation effects, the film reinvigorates the art form. The interplay of painted animations, pixelated characters and 2D transitions creates a dynamic visual language that respects Gond art’s heritage while pushing its aesthetic forward. The film won special mention at Chitrashaala: A Short Film Festival on Rural India and was recognised as Best Student Short Film and Best Director at Mokkho International Film 2024.

Aami Tumi Rum – Anindita Banerjee

Anindita Banerjee’s film critiques societal hypocrisy, highlighting the gap between professed and actual support for women. Following Rumi’s journey of self-discovery, it weaves Bengali cultural richness—music, dance, and traditions—into its narrative. Inspired by personal experiences and traditional art forms like Kalighat paintings, Jamini Roy’s works and Patachitra, Anindita’s illustrations feature large Bengali eyes, symbolising deep emotion. Structured in three parts, the film uses colour to reflect shifting settings and moods.

A True Story – Anish Sekhri

Officially selected for the 11th Goa Short Film Festival, Sekhri’s film reimagines Indian folktales for children (7–10). Initially drawn to mainstream animation, he shifted focus to the Panchatantra, exploring ambition and self-acceptance. Using simple characters like the sun and clouds, the film imparts life lessons through a mixed-media approach, bridging generations and keeping these timeless stories relevant.

I Hope This Conversation Doesn’t Take Place in 2045 – Srishti Arora

Arora’s film empowers women by amplifying silenced experiences and sparking dialogue on unspoken truths. Rooted in everyday stories, it serves as both a platform for expression and a design intervention—encouraging self-discovery and problem-solving. The title playfully critiques harsh realities while celebrating resilience and collective strength.

Anyday, Everyday, One Fine Day! – Raashi Borade

Raashi Borade’s film is about a little girl struggling to conveniently get through her everyday life and the episodes that she faces being socially anxious which are based on sets of metaphors. It is about growing up and the joys of friendships and how people around you can strengthen and help us with our personal development. Each episode resonates with commonly faced problems by a child and his or her response to socially anxious feelings. The film was officially screened at IAWRT’s annual 17th Asian Women’s Film Festival 2021.

Shaaz Ahmed (Associate Professor, IIAD) whose practice Mud n Water Studio produces animation, ad films, short films, urban art and documentaries, also contributed to the festival’s intellectual discourse. He led a session titled Animation Pe Charcha, exploring animation as a mode of inquiry, cultural documentation and political discourse. Additionally, he joins the panel Mapping Your Creative Path, alongside industry experts Nina Sabnani and Rajesh Tarukhia, in a discussion moderated by Lotte Marie Allen.

Sakhi’s Stalker Surfaces at Sai Darshan’s Holi Festivities in Sony SAB’s Wagle Ki Duniya

Mumbai, March 13, 2025: Sony SAB’s Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey continues to deliver thrilling twists as Sai Darshan Society gears up for a grand Holi celebration. The society comes together to help Dakshesh (Deepak Pareek) in his ill-fated magic trick, thanks to the intervention of the original magician who wrote the spell book. With a tribute to the fading world of magicians, normalcy returns to Sai Darshan, or so it seems.

This week, the Wagles find themselves caught in a web of trust and deception as Sakhi’s (Chinmayi Salvi) stalker, Sushant (Shikar Patel) , makes a surprising return. Claiming to have changed his ways, he visits the Wagle home and earns their trust after bringing back Radhika (Bharati Achrekar) , who had briefly gone missing. Rajesh (Sumeet Raghvan) , unaware of his true identity, welcomes Sushant with open arms, praising his good deed. However, Sakhi is left stunned by the turn of events but chooses to stay silent, allowing him a second chance. Meanwhile, Vivan (Namit Shah) remains suspicious, keeping a watchful eye on Sushant’s every move. As the festive zeal intensifies, the lines between redemption and hidden motives blur. They culminate in a shocking moment when Sushant infiltrates the Sai Darshan Holi celebration in disguise.

waagle

Can Sakhi trust Sushant, or is she making a dangerous mistake? Is Vivan’s intuition correct? What will happen when the Wagles discover the truth?

Sumeet Raghvan, who essays the role of Rajesh Wagle, said, “Rajesh is someone who always wants to believe the best in people. He trusts easily, sometimes even when he shouldn’t. This track is interesting because it puts that very trust to the test. Holi is a time of celebration, but for the Wagles, it takes a suspenseful turn. Rajesh welcomes someone into his home with open arms, unaware of the hidden danger to his own daughter. The way the story unfolds and the tension rises will keep the audience hooked. What starts as a joyous festival soon takes an unexpected twist, making this Holi one filled with shock and revelation.”
