Abandoned at Birth, Border Cyclist Ram Finds New Beginning at AiR Humanitarian Homes

Bengaluru, India, Dec 15 : Ravi Naidu’s life began with heartbreak. Abandoned as a newborn at the Government Hospital on Magadi Road in 1967, he was left behind because his parents, who were returning to their home in Myanmar, could not arrange a passport for him. A compassionate couple from Rajajinagar, Ethy Raju Naidu and his wife, took the infant home and raised him as their own.

IMG_0841

But childhood was far from easy for Ravi. As a young boy, Ravi grew up battling ridicule, questions about his birth and the circumstances of his abandonment. Worn down by constant taunts, he dropped out of school after completing Class 10. Yet beneath the pain lay an unbreakable spirit.

Inspired by national icons Subhas Chandra Bose and Bhagat Singh, whom he admired since childhood, Ravi made a life-changing decision in 2000: he would cycle across India’s borders to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS. Spotting a broken bicycle in a heap of trash, he repaired it himself and prepared to set off on a mission few would dare to attempt.

When he approached the Commissioner’s office, Mr. Sangam Singh initially refused permission, insisting he could travel only if officially invited. Determined, Ravi wrote an undertaking on a ₹20 bond paper, declaring that no authority would be held responsible for anything that might happen to him.

A Lone Cyclist on India’s Borders

Beginning his journey at Mekhri Circle and joining NH7, he pedalled across some of the most challenging terrains in the country including Nagaland, Manipur, Shillong, Mizoram, reaching India’s farthest frontiers. Along the way, he adopted a new name, Ram Bahaddur, symbolizing resolve and courage.

Ram spent a day or two in each location, interacting with communities, raising awareness, and moving onward. Resources were scarce, but his grit carried him forward. Across India, he travelled across 33 states, covering nearly 118,687 kilometres in 3 years. Along the way, he was gifted a bicycle, and with it, he began cycling beyond India into other countries. His relentless expeditions and tireless efforts eventually earned him recognition from the Indian Government and a Guinness World Record. But that was then.

Recently, a video of Ram working as a garbage picker surfaced online and quickly went viral. When people discovered he was the same man who had cycled across India’s borders, his story moved thousands. Invitations for interviews followed, shedding light on his remarkable journey.

A New Home of Hope

Today, Ram has found a home at AiR Humanitarian Homes, a haven where many residents share similar stories of abandonment, rescue and healing. For Ram, it is also a return to the same kindness that had shaped his earliest years.

More than 50 years ago, one act of compassion had changed the course of his life. Now, in another moment of struggle, he has found kindness once again, this time at AiR Humanitarian Homes, where care, dignity and love await every individual in need.

Founded in 1998 by AiR-Atman in Ravi, an Enlightened Soul, Happpiness Ambassador, philanthropist, author, singer and poet, AiR Humanitarian Homes have transformed over 50,000 lives till date and care for more than 600 people every single day. Guided by the belief that Service to Humanity is Prayer, the Homes continue to uplift the destitute, the homeless, the forgotten— those whom society often overlooks.

Tier-2 & Tier-3 Cities Emerge as India’s Next Logistics Powerhouses

India’s logistic market is undergoing a powerful shift as metropolitan warehouses face rising costs, congestion and capacity limitations, mid-sized cities are stepping up as the next frontier for logistics infrastructure. According to a recent report, Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities now contribute 100 million sq ft, or about 18.7 per cent of the total stock since 2017.

The logistics sector gained strong momentum under the National Logistics Policy (NLP) and infrastructure initiatives like PM GatiShakti National Master Plan. These reforms accelerated development of multimodal logistics corridors, warehousing, and supply-chain integration. A key highlight of the year has been the continued progress of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, launched for 14 strategic sectors with an outlay of INR1.97 lakh crore.

As companies sought faster distribution and lower costs, Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities emerged as attractive alternatives to congested metros offering lower real-estate and operating costs, better last-mile reach, and improved regional access. Simultaneously, digital platforms such as the Unified Logistics Interface Platform enhanced supply-chain transparency and boosted efficiency.

Expansion‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ of logistics into non-metro areas is going to be more and more evident in the future. The continuation of manufacturing growth will result in the demand for regional warehousing and distribution hubs rising even further. We are forecasting that micro-warehousing, cold-chain facilities, and last-mile networks will be the focus of growth. The enhanced multimodal connectivity rail, road, and waterways will make the supply chain more resilient. AI and IoT-driven logistics tools will be there to further optimise routes, lower costs, and make deliveries faster.

“This year marked a turning point for India’s logistics industry. With rising metro costs and stronger infrastructure in emerging cities, supply chains naturally expanded into Tier-2 and Tier-3 regions. Looking ahead to 2026, we expect these markets to drive the next wave of logistics growth. At Airattix, our focus is on enabling companies to scale through flexible, asset-light warehousing models and smarter distribution networks. The year ahead will bring greater operational efficiency, reduced transit time, and a more balanced logistics footprint across India.”

For enterprises, relocating warehousing footprints to Tier-2/3 cities of the country means cutting down the costs, becoming more agile, and gaining access to the growing regional markets. For investors and policymakers, it is a sign of growth rebalancing beyond the metros, thus opening up the possibilities of job creation, regional development, and more extensive economic growth all over‍ ‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌India.

ISH and EUNIC Strengthen Culinary Education as Cultural Diplomacy in Third Collaboration

Gurugram, Dec 15: Indian School of Hospitality concluded the third edition of its ongoing collaboration with the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), underscoring a clear belief: cuisine remains one of the most effective ways to build cultural understanding, particularly when embedded within formal education.
IMG 2 (Christmas Brunch)
Over the course of this edition, European embassies from Austria, Czechia, France, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Malta, Poland, Spain, and Ukraine engaged directly with ISH students through structured culinary masterclasses and live demonstrations at the Gurugram campus. These sessions formed the academic core of the collaboration, positioning the kitchen as a classroom where culture, technique, and context intersected.
Rather than operating as standalone cultural showcases, the programme followed a common EUNIC framework that emphasised continuity and collective intent. Students were exposed to how European cuisines are shaped by geography, history, seasonality, and social ritual, allowing them to understand hospitality as a cultural discipline rather than a transactional skill.
The collaboration culminated in the European Christmas Brunch, hosted by the Liszt Institute Hungarian Cultural Centre, Delhi, and the Embassy of Hungary in New Delhi. The closing event brought together eminent guests who experienced a curated menu inspired by the culinary traditions explored during the programme, marking the conclusion of the third edition of the partnership.
Speaking on the collaboration, Kunal Vasudeva, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Indian School of Hospitality, said,
“We have been doing this consistently, and this is the third time we have brought this collaboration to life. Each edition builds on the last. Each time, a new group of students passes through these kitchens, engages with cultures directly, and carries that learning forward. Over time, they become cultural and culinary ambassadors in their own right. Cuisine is inherently global, and when education treats it with seriousness and respect, it prepares professionals who understand people before products. That is why we keep doing this.”
For ISH students, the third edition provided sustained international exposure through repeated engagement with European cultural institutions. The experience strengthened cultural literacy alongside technical competence, preparing them to operate confidently in diverse hospitality environments.
Through its continued partnership with EUNIC, ISH reinforces its position as an academic institution where global cultures are explored through practice-led education, contributing to a broader discourse on the role of culinary learning in cultural exchange and global citizenship.
