DeafCareers urges companies to open doors to deaf talent, launches ‘Pledge to Hire’ campaign for International Week of Deaf People

Gurugram, 24 September, 2026: On the occasion of International Week of Deaf People (21–27 September), DeafCareers.in has launched a new ‘Pledge to Hire’ campaign, encouraging companies across India to take a meaningful step towards building more inclusive workplaces by actively hiring talent from the Deaf community.

The campaign is built around a simple message: “Awareness Starts Conversations. Hiring Creates Change.”

While conversations around diversity and inclusion have become increasingly important in corporate India, DeafCareers believes that true inclusion must extend to access to meaningful employment and career opportunities. The initiative is therefore calling upon HR leaders, business leaders and organisations to commit to considering skilled Deaf candidates for suitable roles across their businesses.

DeafCareers.in works to make employment more accessible to the Deaf community, connecting skilled candidates with employers and supporting candidates through skill development, interview preparation and workplace-readiness initiatives.

Commenting on the initiative, Sahil Chopra, Founder & Director, DeafCareers, said: “Awareness is important, but awareness alone does not change lives. Employment does. Our pledge is a simple invitation to companies: look beyond the barriers, look at the talent. There are skilled, committed and capable people in the Deaf community who are ready to contribute, grow and build careers. We want more companies to take that first step and give them the opportunity.”

The campaign comes at a significant moment, with the World Federation of the Deaf observing International Week of Deaf People from 21–27 September 2026, with this year’s global theme focused on declaring Deaf people’s human rights.

Through the campaign, DeafCareers is encouraging companies and HR professionals to take the pledge, share the message within their networks and explore opportunities to hire Deaf talent.

The organisation believes that inclusive hiring can create value not only for candidates but also for employers by bringing diverse skills, perspectives and capabilities into the workplace.

Sahil Chopra added: “We don’t want this to be just another awareness week. We want it to become a starting point for conversations between HR teams and Deaf talent. One company hiring one person can create one career. And many companies taking that step can create a much bigger change.”

The DeafCareers ‘Pledge to Hire’ is now open to companies, HR leaders and individuals who want to support greater employment inclusion for the Deaf community.
