New Delhi, India  February 12th, 2024: The second day of The Times Group presents ET Now Global Business Summit 2024 saw some thought-provoking and insightful conversations by some of the most important thought leaders and decision-makers in the Indian and global business scenario.

Yogi, Mystic and Visionary Sadhguru set the tone for the day’s conversation through his discourse on ‘Wealth &well-being’ where hehighlighted the importance of holistic growth not just of self but also of the planet that we live on. He said, “Well-being encompasses anything that contributes to your sense of wellness and can arise from various experiences. This was followed by an invigorating conversation with Amit Shah, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Government of India who gave the audience a glimpse of the government’s plans for the future of India. I believe in family planning, but in politics, it is always about the more the merrier.  We consistently strive to reform systems that are both feasible and optimally tailored for the evolving landscape of New India. Our government’s clear policy is to have a robust dialogue with each stakeholder to resolve and address any kind of issue that is prevailing in the country. Ashwini VaishnawMinister of Railways, Communications, and Electronics & Information Technology shared the transformative plans and upgrades in the railway infrastructure. His account of the speed at which the infrastructure is developing within the country had the audience captivated with a round of applause that lasted for minutes together. He said, “Significant strides have been made to modernize and upgrade the nation’s railway infrastructure, reflecting Prime Minister Modi’s forward-thinking vision spanning the next five decades. Under his leadership, there’s been a remarkable transformation in bureaucratic processes, exemplified by the remarkable progress within the railway sector. Efforts are underway to further enhance and refine the Vande Bharat trains, intending to eventually export these cutting-edge trains to other nations, showcasing India’s prowess in railway technology.”

Highlighting the numerous investment opportunities that India presented, Lord Gerry Grimstone, Chairman, Gemcorp Capital Management & former U.K. Minister for Investment, said, ” In the last three years, India has provided investment opportunities like never before. The past 20 years, saw a twofold surge in foreign investment. The ease of doing business, tax reforms, economic changes, and a ‘welcoming attitude’ has made India one of the most attractive destinations in the world for foreign investment.”

He also spoke about the progress that the country has made in the 5G rollout. “The rapid rollout of 5G, achieved in just 16 months with domestically produced equipment, is a testament to India’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements. Moving forward, our technology will rival global standards, positioning India as a competitive player in the most advanced sectors” he added.

Conversations around diverse topics such as artificial intelligence, financial literacy, investments in emerging startups, and female inclusion dominated the second day of the summit. Emerging technologies and their contribution to every walk of life right from education, healthcare, and businesses at large were discussed. One of the most important points that was highlighted was that businesses need to understand the changes that have been brought about in new India to realize its full potential.  The panelists emphasized that the biggest issue that the world is facing is that of climate change and the need for businesses to address this and make it a part of their overall strategy. It was agreed that a seamless collaboration between emerging technologies and human intelligence was the only way towards a better tomorrow.

He was also joined by Pt. Prodyut Mukherjee and their Jugalbandi presented SHANTI DHWANI based on Raga Gaoti, SHRINGAR – Dhun based on Raga Mishra Pilu & RANGEELA RITU – dhun based on Raga Kirwani, tributing the same to the season of Spring.

Kolkata, 12th February 2024: On the second day of Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival, celebrated environmental artist and writer Louise Fowler Smith and environmentalist and ornithologist Tara Gandhi were in conversation with environmental activist and writer, Bittu Sahgal in the session ‘Green Earth’ themed around Climate Change. The session was supported by the honorary Australian Consulate-General, Kolkata.

The discussion dived deep into the intersections of their respective fields exploring vital environmental concerns and new perspectives. During the session, Louise Fowler Smith captivated the audience with her book ‘Sacred Trees of India: Adornment and Adorations an Alternative to the Commodification of Nature’ presenting awe-inspiring images of trees being revered in remote corners of the country.

During the discussion, ornithologist, environmentalist, founder and life trustee of WTI, Tara Gandhi, rightly said, “It’s high time that we all come forward as activists and treat the environmental issues with urgency to reverse the effects on the planet. When I was young there was a poignant curiosity among children to know or point out a bird which has been noticed. But nowadays it’s become scarce to notice even sparrows in cities let alone getting curious about knowing about them, a hobby which was inculcated in us by Dr. Salim Ali through his book ‘The Book of Indian Birds’. A subtle change if we look at it but it speaks volumes about the environmental change which started taking place decades ago.”

The panel also discussed how deforestation poses a fundamental threat to ecological sustainability and to the continuation of life on earth. Through her book author Louise Fowler Smith reiterated on the causes of reversing deforestation to achieve NET ZERO which has been a global goal for the countries worldwide. Her journey through parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Assam and Orissa to observe how trees were worshipped, adorned and ornamented for generations, a tradition deep rooted in India, which has been significantly able to protect the environment.

Moderator, Bittu Sahgal skillfully facilitated the discussion, navigating through various aspects of climate change and its detrimental impact on the ecosystem. The panel discussed pressing issues surrounding the environment, shedding light on the urgent need for collective action and the potential consequences if we fail to address these challenges effectively.

Mumbai,  12th February 2024: ACME Group, a leading renewable energy company in India, and Indian Gas Exchange (IGX), India’s first natural gas exchange, today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation and collaboration on developing the green hydrogen and ammonia market in India. The MoU was signed by Shri Manoj Kumar Upadhyay, Founder and Chairman of Acme Group and Shri Rajesh Kumar Mediratta, Managing Director and CEO of IGX at the ongoing India Energy Week in Goa. 

Acme Group is a pioneer in green hydrogen and ammonia space and combined with the deep experience of IGX in creating liquid tradeable market for natural gas, both companies aim to develop the physical traded market for green molecules across the country starting with regional hubs located near to hydrogen and ammonia projects and leading eventually into a nation-wide hub. 

The MoU between IGX and Acme covers the partnership across the hydrogen and ammonia value chain, starting from production to logistics and supply to the industrial customers for use in a range of applications and reduce the overall emissions contributing to the national decarbonization targets. 

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ashwani Kumar Dudeja, Group President and Director of Acme Group said, “We’re excited to collaborate with IGX on developing the market for green hydrogen and its derivatives in India, aiming to pioneer sustainable energy solutions and create liquid and transparent market for customers.” 

Shri Rajesh Kumar Mediratta, MD and CEO, IGX said, “Together, we will develop innovative strategies to accelerate adoption, fostering economic growth and advancing energy security for a more sustainable future by creating a short-term tradeable market leveraging our learnings and experience from developing similar solutions for the natural gas sector.”

Mumbai, 12th February 2024: India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), the public sector undertaking under the aegis of the Ministry of Tourism, today announced a notable surge in its turnover for the cumulative period upto December 2023. Following an exceptional financial performance in FY 2022-23, ITDC continues to exhibit impressive results in 2023-24. The total cumulative turnover upto December 2023 amounted to Rs. 393.56 Crore, reflecting a substantial increase of over Rs. 75.09 Crore compared to the corresponding period of last year.

The cumulative Profit Before Tax (PBT) for the same period reached Rs. 76.80 Crore compared to Rs. 60.84 Crore for the corresponding period last year, indicating a growth of over 26%.  Likewise, the Profit After Tax (PAT) for this period stood at Rs. 55.71 Crore as against Rs. 46.12 Crore corresponding period of last year.

Amongst the cheers of the excited fans the final winners were presented special trophies by Mr. Vijay Deverakonda, actor and co-owner of Hyderabad Black Hawks at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium. The winners of the VD Black Hawks Open ’24 were invited to the camp of  Hyderabad Black Hawks where they get a chance to train with the team.

Since his first performance at Bhopal in 1985 Uday has performed in a number of prestigious festivals and events in India and abroad.

Born out of the immense passion for music of the founders, Kumari Shibulal and SD Shibulal, Sangamam aims to promote the rich tapestry of India’s heritage and diverse art forms to a wider audience, while fostering awareness and preservation of our cultural legacy.

Sharing her thoughts on Sangamam, Kumari Shibulal, Founder (SFPI) said, “Music has the ability to bring people together and create a common platform that transcends boundaries and differences. Both Shibu and I are inclined towards Indian Classical Music, and it is our admiration for heritage and culture that sowed the seed for Sangamam a couple of years ago. Through this initiative, we aim to reach out to art admirers who are inspired by the richness of Indian Music and Dance forms.”

Pt. Uday on his LIVE Dhrupad performance opined, “Meeting art admirers has always been a fulfilling experience. With my 40 years of experience as an educator and performer, it gives me immense happiness to share the beautiful ancient art form. Bangalore has always been very welcoming, and it was an absolute pleasure performing at Sangamam. Initiatives like these are bridging the gap between the art, artists, and admirers.”

Dhrupad is also one of the oldest living traditions of North Indian Classical music, drawing its roots from the rich, ancient Indian philosophies and its artistic value systems. It has originated from the sacred Sanskrit script of Sama Veda.

In an endeavour to promote and keep alive the lineage of teaching Dhrupad in the traditional Guru Shishya Parampara, Pt Uday has established a residential Gurukul, by name ‘Dhrupad Swarkul’ with a goal to impart knowledge and training to selected and deserving Sadhaks of this art form – Dhrupad. The ‘Guru-Shishya Parampara’ is the quintessential Indian process of imparting valuable knowledge and philosophy passed through the ages by the Gurus. SFPI has collaborated with Dhrupad Swarkul to promote this ancient art form to children who have interest in pursuing this art form – Dhrupad.
