Youth Must Cultivate Inner Calm to Build a Peaceful World: Dr Birbal Jha

Patna, September 21: The message of peace and inner harmony rang out at British Lingua, Boring Road, Patna, on Saturday as acclaimed author and educator Dr Birbal Jha addressed a gathering of young people on the occasion of the International Day of Peace. Serving as the chief speaker, Dr Jha urged the youth to embrace peace as a daily practice and a pathway to prosperity.

“Peace is not a commodity to be bought; it is a skill to be cultivated,” the Youngest Living Legend of Mithila, Dr Birbal Jha told the audience, stressing that small acts of kindness can spark greater harmony. “True peace begins with something as simple as bringing a smile to another’s face. While we cannot see our own smile without a mirror, the joy reflected in others is unmistakable.”

Calling inner calm the key to personal growth, the English Litterateur Dr Birbal said, “The pursuit of inner peace is, in fact, the pursuit of prosperity. A mind at peace radiates energy, fosters understanding, and transforms relationships.” Dr Jha urged young people to shed negativity—“Distance yourself from arrogance, envy, greed, and ego. A sincere pursuit of peace naturally leads to happiness.”
Dr Jha drew from diverse traditions to underline the universality of his message. “The Bhagavad Gita, the Bible, and the Quran converge on a simple truth: treat others as you wish to be treated,” Dr Jha said. Quoting the Dalai Lama, he reminded the gathering, “Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.”
Forgiveness, Dr Birbal stressed, is a mark of strength. “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong,” Dr Jha said, citing Mahatma Gandhi. “Conflict, when handled wisely, can be transformative and productive. Settle disputes at the peace table before they escalate.”
Rejecting the notion that peace means passivity, Dr Birbal Jha, known as ‘Living Literary Legend of Bihar’, urged the audience to act with moral courage. “Speak now or forever hold your peace,” Dr Jha said. “Confront challenges mindfully and resolve issues with empathy.”
As India moves toward a future of global leadership, Dr Jha called on the youth to become ambassadors of harmony. “Each smile, each act of kindness, and each moment of forgiveness plants the seeds for a more harmonious world,” Dr Jha concluded.
The programme, attended by students and young professionals, ended with a pledge to practice daily acts of peace, echoing Dr Jha’s belief that “life without serenity is life half-lived.”

Empowering Dreams: How Scholarships Are Shaping the Future of Meritorious Students

By – Neeraj Kansal Founder & CEO of Crack Academy

In today’s highly competitive academic landscape, education has become one of the most significant investments for a brighter future. However, for many talented students, especially those from financially weaker backgrounds, the rising cost of quality education often acts as a barrier to achieving their aspirations. This is where scholarships play a transformative role, empowering meritorious students to pursue their dreams without being held back by financial constraints.

Scholarships serve as gateways to equal opportunities, enabling deserving students to access the best educational resources, mentorship, and guidance. They not only provide financial relief but also act as a motivational driver, encouraging students to excel academically and perform to their full potential.

school

In recent years, many educational institutions have introduced structured scholarship programs designed to support both merit and need. For instance, some institutes offer 100% scholarships to top-performing students, 75% to the next set of achievers, and 50% to a broader group of aspirants. These initiatives are particularly impactful for students preparing for competitive examinations like NEET, JEE, UPSC, SSC, Banking, and Railways, where early preparation and guided learning can make a significant difference.

Beyond financial assistance, scholarships instill a sense of confidence, responsibility, and ambition among students. They encourage young minds to dream big and work harder, fostering an ecosystem where talent is recognized and nurtured, irrespective of economic status.

As India steadily moves towards becoming a knowledge-driven economy, promoting scholarships for meritorious and financially weak students is crucial. By removing financial hurdles and unlocking opportunities, these initiatives help shape future doctors, engineers, administrators, and innovators who will contribute meaningfully to society.

In essence, scholarships are not just financial aid; they are catalysts of change, empowering young aspirants to turn their dreams into reality.

Super 30 Founder Anand Kumar Encourages Students to Blend Knowledge with Social Responsibility

India, 16th September 2025: Renowned mathematician and Super 30 founder Anand Kumar addressed students at Marwadi University on the 58th National Engineers’ Day as part of the Human Library Series, inspiring them with a powerful message on learning for knowledge, building resilience under pressure, and embracing technology responsibly

 Anand Kumar

Opening his talk, Kumar urged students to view Engineers’ Day as an opportunity to ‘recommit to knowledge, not just credentials.’ He cautioned against reducing education to mere marketing or short-term outcomes, emphasizing that strong content and clear concepts must always come before scale. Everyone talks about growth and promotion, but few focus on strengthening the content,’ he said. ‘Study for knowledge and to innovate — jobs and money will follow when you truly understand your subject

Drawing on three decades of teaching, Kumar shared powerful stories of students whose persistence transformed their lives. He spoke about Abhishek Raj, who once studied under a streetlight while working odd jobs, went on to qualify for IIT Kharagpur, and now holds a senior position in the United States. He also highlighted the journey of Shashi Narayan, who overcame personal loss to top a global science scholarship competition in France, pursue Computer Science at IIT Kharagpur, and now works as a scientist in London. ‘Hard work has no substitute,’ Kumar reminded the students. ‘When faced with difficulties, don’t change your path change your effort.’

Kumar urged students to measure success by the problems they solve and the value they create, rather than the immediate salary packages they receive. He framed AI as both an opportunity and a test, emphasizing the need for continuous upskilling and global awareness. He encouraged students to study how subjects are taught around the world and to focus on what unique contributions they can make. Reflecting on his own early struggles and the inception of Super 30, Kumar shared how curiosity about global learning trends and early adoption of new tools shaped his own journey

In closing, Kumar urged students to nurture four qualities for meaningful success: an unrelenting thirst for goals, positive thinking through setbacks, hard work to build true strength, and patience to endure the journey. He praised the audience’s focus, reminding them that listening is the first step to creating anything worthwhile, and left them with a powerful message — knowledge, character, and contribution must go hand in hand, especially on a day that celebrates engineers’ role in shaping society.

Academic Performance, Career Concerns & Homework top Stressors for Students: IC3 Student Suicide Report 2025

24 August 2025: The Annual IC3 Conference & Expo 2025, held at Jio Convention Centre, in Mumbai on August 20–21, brought together more than 1,500 educators, school leaders, counselors and university representatives from across 95 countries to address one of the most urgent challenges facing India’s youth: student mental health and well-being. The conference, centred on the theme “Counseling as a Culture”, marked the launch of the Student Suicides Aversion Report-Mental Health & Well-Being, Volume III: The Student Well-Being Pulse Report, an extensive survey based on responses from 8,542 students across India by the IC3 Institute.

The report reveals a crisis cutting across grades, gender, and geographies. While academic pressure remains the dominant stressor, students report persistent emotional distress, lack of access to professional support, and widespread uncertainty about their futures.
Key Findings from the 2025 Student Well-Being Pulse Report

Emotional distress among students is widespread. One in five rarely experiences calmness, motivation or excitement, and girls continue to be disproportionately affected, reporting nearly twice the rate of persistent sadness compared to boys. Forty percent of students do not know where to go in school for mental health support, while nearly half have never received structured career counseling, a key source of anxiety about their future. Three out of four Grade 12 students fall short of the recommended 7–8 hours of sleep on school nights, driven largely by academic overload and relentless overthinking. Yet, there are positive signs: more schools today acknowledge the importance of counseling, and awareness among students on where to access support has been steadily rising. The Supreme Court has also underscored the urgent need for robust school-based counseling systems, adding both momentum and legitimacy to this critical movement.

Commenting on the findings, Ganesh Kohli, Founder of the IC3 Movement, said, “This is no longer a silent problem. It is a visible and urgent crisis. While more schools are now offering counseling and students are increasingly aware of where to seek help, almost half of our students still remain unsure, and career anxiety continues to steal their sleep and peace of mind. Mental health cannot be treated as optional. Every school must make counseling and emotional support part of its core infrastructure, while expanding access, broadbasing programs, and equipping teachers and staff as trained gatekeepers. Our children deserve nothing less.”
Gendered and Hidden Struggles

The report underscores deep gender disparities. Girls are more likely to internalise stress and avoid professional help, while non-binary students report the lowest overall well-being. Friends are often the first point of contact for students in distress, yet most peers lack the training to provide effective support.

Career Anxiety and Academic Overload

Uncertainty about the future is among the top three stressors for students. Without clear and consistent career guidance, many feel adrift, compounding the academic pressure that defines much of adolescence. Sleep deprivation, especially among senior students, is at critical levels and directly linked to screen use before bedtime and chronic overthinking.

As the IC3 Movement enters its 10th year, the 2025 Annual IC3 Conference & Expo in Mumbai marked a defining moment in its journey to embed counseling into the fabric of education. Bringing together more than 1,500 educators, counselors, university representatives, and changemakers from 95 countries, the event highlighted both the progress made and the work that still lies ahead broadening access, training educators as gatekeepers, and creating systemic support structures across schools.

The conference featured over 35 expert-led sessions, pre-conference workshops, and the Inner Child Workshop, helping educators reflect on their own formative experiences and connect more deeply with students. Senior education leaders, including Dr. Indu Shahani (ATLAS SkillTech University), and Shri Sanjay Kumar (Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India), shared insights on embedding mental health and counseling into everyday school functioning, while stressing the shared responsibility of families, institutions, and communities.

As the host of this event, ATLAS SkillTech University will play a pivotal role in supporting the initiative. Sharing her thoughts, Dr. Indu Shahani, Founding President & Chancellor of ATLAS SkillTech University, India said “I am proud to support this important gathering. I feel deeply honoured to be part of a platform that is shaping the future of education and student well-being. What makes this conference meaningful is the way it positions counseling not as an option, but as a culture that must exist in every school. I look forward to joining conversations that advance this belief and help ensure that every young person receives the guidance they deserve during their formative years. For me, this is not only about education, but also about nurturing futures with care and purpose.”
Keynote reflections came from renowned voices such as Boman Irani, Devdutt Pattanaik, and Gauranga Das, while the Presidential Forum brought together Ratna Pathak Shah, Soha Ali Khan, Ronnie Screwvala, and other luminaries to discuss purpose, well-being, and the role of collaborative support for young people.

As IC3 moves into its next decade, these conversations underscore the Movement’s commitment: counseling must not only be accessible but integrated, proactive, and capable of shaping the holistic development of every student. To further this mission, IC3 has also introduced new formats such as IC3 On Demand, a customized model of engagement where events are designed in partnership with mission-aligned institutions to achieve shared goals with high impact; and the IC3 Regional Conferences, enhanced platforms that build on the Regional Forums to support educators and counselors across regions in addressing the evolving needs of students worldwide.
