Anant National University and Penn GSE to Host a Convening in Ahmedabad for an India-based Indigenous Research Project

Ahmedabad, July 2025: Anant National University, in collaboration with Penn Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE), will host the Indigenous Consciousness Education Research Methodology Convening on 25-26 July 2025. This convening brings together leading scholars, education policy experts and practitioners to explore Indigenous Consciousness research methodologies and set the foundation for an India-based research project – Indigenous Consciousness Methodology Education Research Project (ICER).

The convening marks a significant step in advancing Indigenous Consciousness Methodologies, an approach that honours local knowledge systems, prioritises community-engaged practices and fosters sustainable, equitable educational frameworks. Through ICER, set to be launched for the academic year 2025-2026, Anant aims to inform education policy development by ensuring that Indigenous perspectives remain central to shaping impactful and culturally responsive learning models. This initiative is closely aligned with the vision outlined in India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which advocates for inclusive, locally grounded education models that preserve and promote indigenous knowledge systems.

The convening also builds upon Anant’s collaboration with Penn GSE, expanding efforts in global education innovation. Anant and Penn GSE previously hosted The Future of Learning Collaborative in 2023, which led to the launch of an influential White Paper as an urgent call to redesign the global education system in response to sweeping changes that are reshaping human existence. Through the ongoing partnership, the two universities foster cooperative research, facilitate international exchanges, enhance the quality of learning, extend the reach of both institutions and collaborate on the exchange of academic materials and initiatives that advance matters of mutual academic interests.

A leading Ivy League institution, the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE) has a century-long tradition of producing education leaders driven by innovation, research and social impact. Penn GSE actively partners with schools, universities and communities around the world to improve educational access and equity. As part of its mission to promote global engagement in all its forms, the University of Pennsylvania through Penn Global administers a competitive global engagement grant programme. This initiative provides resources to faculty and staff to support a broad range of research, teaching, service and engagement activities both globally and in specific focus countries and regions.

With this convening, Anant is taking another bold step toward equitably inclusive education, ensuring that Indigenous knowledge systems receive due recognition and representation in research and policy discourse. This effort reinforces Anant’s vision to drive innovative, locally relevant education methodologies and materials rooted in India’s local realities, regional diversities and national aspirations.

Mumbai, July 16, 2025 — ClassTym, a next-generation interactive teaching platform, built around transparency and personalization launches with a radical mission: to put the power back in the hands of educators thus making quality mentorship accessible to students everywhere while reshaping the future of learning through human connection.

In a digital age where education is increasingly commodified and reduced to influencer content, ClassTym offers a refreshing alternative. Founded by Divya Tej, a visionary entrepreneur and passionate education reformer, the platform rejects rigid, curriculum-heavy systems in favor of flexible, mentor-led learning. At its core, it is a student-centric and educator-first platform that equips independent tutors, coaches, and subject matter experts with the tools to build digital classrooms — without the burden of upfront costs or rigid structures. It offers integrated tools for scheduling, whiteboarding, content delivery, and student management — all designed to make learning interactive, accessible, and impactful.

With intuitive tools and a seamless interface, ClassTym is focused on bridging the gap between students and educators, making knowledge-sharing meaningful and impactful for all.”

Reshaping the EdTech Industry

The launch of ClassTym marks a paradigm shift in the EdTech industry. While most platforms emphasize content delivery and scalability, ClassTym champions student-mentor relationships, academic integrity, and educator empowerment. It enables students to choose their mentors based on demo classes, real reviews, and subject compatibility. By shifting away from a one-size-fits-all model, ClassTym enables personalized learning journeys while supporting educators with smart tools that scale their reach and income.

Unlike other EdTech platforms that thrive on influencers and content creators, ClassTym stands firm on academic integrity. Every educator on the platform is verified, ensuring students learn from qualified, real-world experts — not social media personas.

A Vision Born from Experience

As an alumnus of Good Shepherd International School, Pathways World School, and Bournemouth University (UK), Tej combines global academic exposure with hands-on experience. His leadership comes from working at schools, where he engaged with thousands of students and teachers, giving him firsthand insight into the barriers limiting educator autonomy and student access — especially outside Tier-1 cities. It was this realization that led him to launch ClassTym, a platform that removes geographic, financial, and institutional barriers.

What Sets ClassTym Apart

ClassTym is built from the ground up with a laser focus on transparency, accessibility, and empowerment. Key features include:

Zero Upfront Fees for Educators – Anyone can start teaching on ClassTym without paying a rupee. This reduces entry barriers for passionate educators across the world.

Verified Expert Network – No influencers. Only qualified, vetted educators are allowed on the platform, ensuring credibility and trust for students.

Student Empowerment – Students select educators based on demo sessions, reviews, and subject fit, ensuring a better learning match and stronger academic outcomes.

ClassTym is more than a platform — it is deeply grounded in a powerful philosophy: authentic learning must be rooted in trust, interaction, and mentorship. Built to empower real educators and offer students a truly personalized experience, ClassTym aims to make education interactive, transparent, and deeply human again.

From Jaipur to Nagpur, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Ignites a Nation of Problem-Solvers

GURUGRAM, India, July 10, 2025: From the sunlit classrooms of Jaipur to the buzzing lecture halls of Nagpur, a powerful question echoed across campuses: “What problem will you solve for India?”

That question lies at the heart of Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, a national innovation challenge that is transforming students into changemakers—and campuses into launchpads for the future.

SFT Jaipur

After a powerful launch on April 29, the design thinking workshops and college Open Houses swept across India—reaching not just major metros but also the vibrant heartlands of the Northeast.

Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2025 will provide INR 1 crore to the top four winning teams to support the incubation of their projects, along with hands-on prototyping, investor connects, and expert mentorship from Samsung leaders and IIT Delhi faculty.

At Neerja Modi School in Jaipur, over 1,000 students filled the auditorium with their ideas, ambitions, and dreams. Among them, Naman Lakhani found himself thinking beyond textbooks:

“I’ve always wanted to build something that could solve real-world issues. Samsung Solve for Tomorrow showed me that someone out there actually wants to listen to us—and help make those ideas real.”

Anshika Gupta, another student, added: “It felt like a spark. This programme is not just about innovation—it’s about inclusion. It made me feel like I could be a part of building India’s future, even while I’m still in school.”

The journey continued to Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh School, also in Jaipur, where Ishan Sharma, part of a 850-strong student turnout, found his perspective shift:

“I realised that I don’t need to wait to graduate or become an adult to solve problems. If we have ideas now, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow wants to hear them. That’s empowering.”

In Nagpur, the vibrant community of Ramdeobaba University welcomed the campaign with open minds and open notebooks. Among 640 participants, Manya shared her dream of building AI-driven solutions for public health:

“For once, a platform came to us—to our campus, to our city—and said, ‘Let’s build something that matters.’ It’s not just a competition. It’s a launchpad.”

Even virtually, the momentum didn’t stop. Shanti Business School in Ahmedabad hosted one of the largest online Samsung Solve for Tomorrow open houses yet, with over 1,700 students tuning in. Discussions ranged from clean energy to accessibility tech.

“It felt like a national classroom of creators,” one student shared in the chat. “We were miles apart, but our ideas connected.”

In Bhopal, Oriental Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) brought the conversation to ground zero—how students can use tech to tackle local problems. With 290 students in attendance, the event had a quiet, determined energy.

“We don’t just want to dream. We want to build,” a student said. “Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is giving us the blueprint.”

As Samsung Solve for Tomorrow rolls across India, it’s making one thing clear: Innovation doesn’t belong to labs or big cities. It belongs to every student with a question and the courage to find an answer.

So, if you’re a student with an idea that could solve a real problem—this is your moment. Apply now to Samsung Solve for Tomorrow. Your classroom could be the next stop in this journey. And your idea? It could change everything.

Dr Birbal Jha: The Visionary Champion of Language, Culture, and Social Empowerment

“Language is not merely a tool of communication—it is a passport to dignity, equity, identity, and both social and economic mobility.”Dr Birbal Jha

BIRBAL

In a country of over a billion voices, where dialects shift every hundred kilometres and opportunities often favour the linguistically privileged, one man has dedicated his life to empowering the voiceless through the power of language. That man is Dr Birbal Jha, a social entrepreneur, noted author, cultural crusader, and social reformer, who has helped over 4 lakh individuals rewrite their destinies—not with wealth or influence, but with words, self-confidence, and skill.

Born in the heart of Bihar and rooted in the rich soil of Mithila, Dr Jha is a self-made visionary whose life’s mission has been to make English—once a symbol of elitism—into a language of liberation and emancipation. His impact, however, extends far beyond classrooms and textbooks. It is etched into the lives of the marginalised, the aspiring, the forgotten, and the proud bearers of India’s regional cultures.

The Founder of a Language Movement

As the Founder and Managing Director of British Lingua, an internationally acclaimed institution headquartered in Delhi, Dr Birbal Jha has led what many call an English skills training revolution. Over the last three decades, he has trained more than 400,000 individuals, spanning students, job seekers, government employees, and rural youth, transforming their lives through employability skills and communicative competence.

But Dr Jha’s contribution goes deeper than grammar and vocabulary. He introduced the groundbreaking andragogy of “English for Social Equity”—a bold and inclusive model that challenges linguistic elitism and promotes language learning as a tool for social justice and mobility. In a nation still grappling with systemic inequality, this approach has resonated powerfully with India’s aspirational masses.

Transforming the Poorest of the Poor

Dr Jha had a landmark collaboration with the Government of Bihar, where he spearheaded a training programme for 36,000 Mahadalit youth—those considered the poorest among the marginalised. These young people, many of whom had never stepped into a formal classroom or spoken a sentence in English, were given the tools to dream, express, and rise.

From learning basic English expressions to facing job interviews, these young men and women emerged from Dr Jha’s programmes with dignity, confidence, and hope. For many, this was more than a training—it was a second birth.

Empowering Educators, Building Futures

Recognising his expertise, the Government of Bihar also entrusted Dr Jha with the upskilling of English teachers in government high schools. Through intensive training modules, he introduced thousands of teachers to modern, communicative language teaching, thereby improving the quality of English education across the public-school system.

In Dr Jha’s words, “When a teacher improves, generations benefit.” His work in this domain has quietly but effectively impacted hundreds of thousands of schoolchildren, creating a ripple effect of progress.

In the run-up to the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India focused on enhancing both infrastructure and human interaction. Those who served as the first point of contacts were trained in Spoken English and behavioural skills. This training was imparted by Dr Birbal Jha under the banner of British Lingua. It aimed to ensure effective communication and warm hospitality for international guests. Dr Jha’s efforts were widely applauded by the government as well as media houses, highlighting the vital role of soft skills in shaping India’s image on the global stage.

A Cultural Warrior in the Age of Globalisation

While his educational endeavours span across India, Dr Birbal Jha has also fought to protect the soul of his native culture. As Chairman of the Mithilalok Foundation, he launched the internationally recognised “Save the Paag Campaign”—a movement to revive and protect the traditional Maithili headgear (Paag), which symbolises dignity, honour, and identity in Mithila culture.

Under his stewardship, the campaign garnered nationwide attention, culminating in the recognition of the Paag as a cultural symbol. His work reinstated a vanishing heritage into public pride, reconnecting the youth of Mithila to their roots with renewed affection. Paag postage in 2017 was issued by the Government of India following the campaign.

Again in 2017, his cultural, educational and literary contributions were formally acknowledged when Dr Birbal Jha’ biography titled “Youngest Living Legend of Mithila” was published—honouring his unique blend of activism, intellect, and identity.

Author, Motivator, Thought-Leader

Dr Jha is also a prolific author with over 30 books to his credit. His publications—such as “Celebrate Your Life”, “English for Social Justice” and ‘Spoken English Kit’—have become go-to resources for learners, educators, and policymakers alike. His works are not merely academic—they are social documents that blend pedagogy and andragogy with purpose.

A Life Rooted in Values, A Vision for the Nation

Dr Birbal Jha’s journey—from a small village in Bihar to becoming one of India’s most influential educational reformers—is a testimony to the power of resilience, purpose, and relentless service. He doesn’t merely teach English—he uses language as a medium to restore dignity, ignite aspirations, and foster unity.

He continues to inspire with campaigns like “Viksit Bharat, Viksit Bihar”, calling for regional empowerment in alignment with the national vision. His message is clear: development must begin with education, language, and culture—the real engines of human progress.

Conclusion: A National Treasure in a Local Hero’s Soul

In an era where many chase fame and fortune, Dr Birbal Jha stands apart as a torchbearer of hope, humility, and humanity. His impact is measured not in headlines but in lives changed, voices found, and identities reclaimed.

He has proven that with the right words, a farmer’s child can become a leader, a marginalised youth can become a professional, and a fading tradition can once again bloom.
