New Delhi, 15 October 2024: University of Essex, a prestigious institution ranked in the top 30 in the UK (Complete University Guide 2025 and Guardian University Guide 2025) is pleased to announce its innovative Integrated Masters in Science (MSci) in Nursing, offering a Dual Award in Adult and Mental Health Nursing.

The University currently holds the 11th position in the UK for Mental Health Nursing and 28th in UK for general nursing, according to the Guardian University Guide 2025, and 23rd in the UK for Nursing and Midwifery, according to The Mail University Guide 2025. Essex also ranks 4th for mental health nursing and 14th for adult nursing for overall positivity scores in the National Student Survey 2024 (English broad-discipline higher education institutions). The Integrated Masters in Science (MSci) in Nursing is a four-year, full-time programme and is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to excel in two key fields of nursing, making them versatile professionals capable of delivering both physical and mental healthcare.

The structure of the programme blends 50% clinical practice and 50% theoretical study, allowing students to develop hands-on experience in various healthcare settings while learning the core principles of nursing. Students will spend the first three years specializing in either adult or mental health nursing, with the flexibility to transition into the dual award track at the end of their third year, subject to academic performance. The final year focuses on the alternative field, allowing students to graduate with dual qualifications. Placements will be offered across Essex, giving students exposure to a wide range of healthcare environments, including NHS, private, and voluntary settings.

Graduates of this programme will be eligible for dual registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as both Adult and Mental Health Nurses. This dual qualification significantly enhances career opportunities, allowing graduates to work in diverse settings such as hospitals, mental health facilities, community healthcare, and specialized units that require professionals with cross-disciplinary expertise. Furthermore, graduates will be well-prepared for leadership roles within the healthcare sector, making them highly sought after in both the UK and international job markets.

Entry requirements for the programme include a minimum of BBC-CCD (112-88 UCAS tariff points) at A-Level, or equivalent qualifications. Applicants must achieve an IELTS score of 7.0 overall, with no less than 6.5 in writing and 7.0 in other components. Eligible students can also benefit from the NHS Learning Support Fund, which provides a £5000 grant per academic year to support their studies, along with potential additional financial support for students with dependents.

Ms. Prachi Kaushik, a renowned social entrepreneur and founder of the Vyomini Social Foundation, captivated students and attendees at the Symposium on Social Entrepreneurship – Paving the Way for Viksit Bharat @2047 organized by Amity University. In her keynote address, Ms. Kaushik explored how social entrepreneurship is revolutionizing healthcare delivery, particularly in underserved communities, through innovative solutions and strategic partnerships.

Her presentation, titled Social Entrepreneurs in Improving Healthcare Access & Affordability Across the Globe, shed light on Vyomini Social Foundation’s efforts to bridge the healthcare gap by focusing on access, affordability, and sustainability. Ms. Kaushik shared valuable insights into how social entrepreneurs are using innovation to address healthcare challenges and ensure equitable health services for all.

The symposium brought together prominent figures in social entrepreneurship, with dynamic discussions on the intersection of healthcare, innovation, and social equity. A key highlight was a panel discussion themed around improving global healthcare access and affordability. Visionary leaders from various sectors discussed how sustainable, innovative models are reshaping healthcare landscapes worldwide.

In her speech, Ms. Kaushik also aligned her work with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, a national initiative aimed at building a self-reliant and developed India by 2047. Reflecting on this, she stated:

“Viksit Bharat 2047 envisions a self-reliant and developed India by the centenary of its independence. The vision underscores the need for economic growth, technological advancements, and sustainable practices, with a focus on inclusivity and social equity. Achieving this ambitious goal requires empowering our youth, fostering innovation, and enhancing infrastructure to reduce dependency on imports. Sustainable development is essential, ensuring that progress is not at the expense of the environment.”

Her message resonated deeply with the audience, particularly her focus on innovation and sustainability as vital pillars in creating equitable healthcare systems that align with India’s development goals for 2047.

The panel discussion further explored how social entrepreneurs are addressing global healthcare challenges through the integration of telemedicine, mobile healthcare units, and community health workers. Experts discussed the transformative role of digital health platforms, AI, and data analytics in enhancing healthcare efficiency, as well as the need for public-private partnerships to develop scalable solutions for global healthcare needs.

The symposium concluded on an inspiring note, with participants reaffirming the critical role of social entrepreneurship in shaping a future where healthcare is both accessible and affordable for all. The event emphasized the importance of innovation, collaboration, and sustainability in building a robust global healthcare system.

The 6th International Conference on Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Leadership (ICEIL 2024) on the theme, ‘Leveraging Emerging Technologies for a Self-Reliant Nation’ held from 9th to 14th October 2024 at Amity University Noida, concluded with the Valedictory Session.

The Conference included 65 Research Papers Presentations, 55 Concurrent Panel Discussions on various themes, 2 Symposiums, 54 Case Study Teams, 121 Eureka Teams: Student Project & Idea Competition, 63 Teams for Lakhya: Business Competition, 50Start up Expo of start ups, 2 Pre-Conference Workshops, 8 Keynote sessions from eminent personalities, 52 Jury members for various in Competitions and 300+ Speakers & Panelists. The Conference had more than 10,000 participants including Academicians, Entrepreneurs, Researchers, Govt. Officials, Venture Capitalists, SMEs, Industry Professionals, Corporate Leaders, Start-Ups, practitioners and students.

Dr. Anshumaan Singh, Chairman, International Business Startup and Entrepreneurs Association (IBSEA), averred, “The students who are planning to venture into launching their own startups must focus on three Cs- clarity, capability and courage. And three Ps- Pasion, Purpose and Profit. Consistency is very important, however, they should not worry about perfection since perfection can never be achieved. Today, India has 1.5 lakh registered startups out of which more than 100 startups are Unicorns. During the Covid pandemic, India has shown to the world how challenges can be turned into opportunities.” He invited 10 students from Amity who want to have their own start-ups and said that his organization will extend its complete support them, right form ideation to funding.” He also urged the students to stay away from 5 Cs – criticize, complain, cry, curse or compare and working hard to achieve their goals.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, & Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, stated, “The three-day Conference was highly enriching and insightful with some great inspiring sessions by industry experts. Also present on the occasion were Dr. Sanjeev Bansal, Additional Pro Vice Chancellor Amity University, Dr. Nitasha Hasteer, Dy. Director-Academics, ASET, Prof. (Dr.) B.K. Murthy, Dean (Translational Research and Entrepreneurship Development), Science, Engineering and Technology, AUUP. The Valedictory Session concluded with a Prize Distribution Ceremony wherein winners of various competitions- Eureka, Lakshya, Case Study Competition and Start-up Expo, were awarded.

Twenty-nine trainees from the Home Stay Training Program at Indira Gandhi Government College (IGGC) in Tezu, Arunachal Pradesh supported by IIFL Foundation, the National Cadet Corp (NCC) under the Ministry of Defence and REACHA have successfully secured placements with Sterling Holiday Resorts Limited in Mussoorie, Manali, Kufri, and Ooty.

Recently a reunion and counseling interaction was organized for trainees from Year 1, covering 1st to 4th batches of the program. The event witnessed active participation from the students, along with some of their parents who joined virtually. This gathering allowed trainees to share their experiences and discuss how the program has shaped their journey.

Secured placements mark a significant achievement for the program and its participants, helping them start careers in India’s booming hospitality sector. IIFL Foundation extends its gratitude to Mr. Vikram Lalvani and the entire Sterling Holiday Resorts team for their invaluable support in facilitating these opportunities.

In addition, the Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) conducted the final assessments for the program’s last batches in September 2024, ensuring that the trainees are ready to take on professional roles in the hospitality industry.

The Home Stay Training Program was inaugurated in September 2023 in presence of General Officer Commanding 2 Mountain Division Lt. General M.S Bains, Mrs. Madhu Jain, Director of IIFL Foundation, Brigadier Dr. P.M Bali, Dr. Kangki Megu, Principal, IGGC Tezu, Local District Administration, and Mr. Nikhil Pant, CEO, REACHA. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Chowna Mein, MP Shri Tapir Gao and others conveyed their wishes through video messages. This program was a transformative opportunity for the youth of Arunachal Pradesh. These individuals are advancing in their professional paths as well as emerging into role models for their peers, inspiring others to pursue similar opportunities and broaden their horizons.

This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER)’s objectives of empowering and uplifting the youth of Northeast India. The success of the Home Stay Training Program demonstrates the importance of equipping young people with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in today’s dynamic job market. This program has emerged as a vital initiative to equip young people from the Northeast with essential skills and employment opportunities in the hospitality sector.

New Delhi, 14th October 2024: The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), administrator of the NMAT by GMAC™ exam and a global association of leading graduate business schools, has announced the extension of the registration period for the NMAT by GMAC™ exam. The deadline, which was previously 10th October 2024, has now been extended till 13th October 2024, in response to overwhelming demand from aspiring candidates. The test scheduling deadline has also been extended from previous 14th Oct to now 17th October 2024.

The NMAT by GMAC™ exam has continued to witness strong interest from MBA aspirants across India and globally. Renowned institutes such as Indian School of Business, S.P. Sohar University (SU) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Indian Institute of Management, (IIM Rohtak) to explore collaboration to initiate the Bachelor of Business Administration program. This (MoA) was signed by Prof. Dheeraj Sharma, Hon’ble Director of IIM Rohtak and Dr. Hamdan Al Fazari, Vice Chancellor of Sohar University, during the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) conference held in Sohar University with the theme “Elevating Intellectual Property, Research, and Innovation in Oman”, under the patronage of H.E. Prof. Rahma Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MoHERI) with His Excellency Amit Narang, Indian Ambassador to Oman, in attendance.

Prof Dheeraj Sharma was invited to deliver the keynote address for the World Intellectual Property Conference. Prof Sharma highlighted the need for a balance between protecting intellectual property versus open innovation. Also, Prof. Sharma encouraged researchers to examine opportunities for disruptive innovation that truly bring value to mankind and society. Prof Sharma requested the researchers and eminent scholars participating in the conference to avoid commercializing and investing frivolous innovations that create negative externalities. He cited previous research to proffer a view that innovation should not be an attempt to change people but should be aimed at positively changing the world we live in. The event was attended by H.E. Prof. Rahma Al Mahrouqi, Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education Oman, Research and Innovation (MoHERI). In addition, the event was attended by His Excellency Mr. Amit Narang, Hon’ble Indian Ambassador to Oman and Senior official of WIPO and several top researchers from across the world.

The MoA highlighted the importance of the partnership in advancing business education and research in the region and marks a significant milestone in academic collaboration between the two esteemed institutions. Sohar University will offer its infrastructure for any such endeavor that will allow for a speedy start of the program. However, the program start date has not been finalized at this time.

The Bachelor of Business Administration program is specifically targeted at the vast Indian diaspora population within the radius of 200 kms of Sohar University. It was found that there is a significant opportunity to offer high quality education to potential students of the Indian diaspora in the region. The modalities for the same are being worked out. The joint degree program will provide students with a comprehensive foundation in key disciplines such as management, finance, operations, and marketing. The program emphasizes critical thinking, data analysis, and ethical business practices, ensuring that alumni are well-prepared for the challenges of the global business environment.

New Delhi, 9 October 2024: To promote dialogue on the role of youth in shaping the future of UAE-India relations, H.E. Abdulnasser Alshaali, Ph.D., the UAE Ambassador to India, held an exclusive session in Delhi with 40 Legislative Assistants to Members of Parliament (LAMP) Fellows.

The session aimed to inspire the next generation of leaders and provided LAMP Fellows with the opportunity to engage in an open dialogue with the Ambassador on a range of key topics. During the event, Ambassador Alshaali provided an overview of the UAE’s priorities for youth empowerment and education, emphasising that youth play a crucial role in fostering innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development.

The importance of educational collaboration between the UAE and India was also highlighted, especially with the recent opening of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi’s campus in Abu Dhabi. This development marks a milestone in bilateral relations and presents an opportunity to enhance knowledge-sharing between the youth of both nations.

New Delhi, 08 October 2024: The University of East Anglia (UEA), one of the UK’s top 25 universities, has announced a dedicated scholarship for Indian students enrolling in BSc Biomedical Science with a placement year at NHS (National Health Services). This scholarship worth £4,000 annually for the entire programme duration makes it a significant financial aid for Indian students aspiring to build careers in biomedical science within the UK’s NHS.

This innovative four-year degree program in Biomedical Science is crafted to provide students with both advanced theoretical knowledge and practical skills, with a strong emphasis on real-world applications. A key highlight of this programme is the optional NHS placement year in the third year. This placement, dependent on availability, demand, and the student’s academic performance and aptitude, offers students the opportunity to work as trainee biomedical scientists in IBMS-approved NHS medical laboratories.

Throughout the placement, students will complete the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) training portfolio, which sets the foundation for obtaining HCPC registration as professional Biomedical Scientists. This hands-on experience is integral to developing the expertise required for a successful career in the field.
