06 August 2024, Sonipat: Sahil Rawat, Xth grade student of Orchids The International School, has once again made a presence on international turf by winning two medals at the recently concluded World Table Tennis Star Youth Contender which was in Lima, Peru. The young table tennis lad clinched Silver in the U-15 Boys Doubles and Bronze in Mixed Doubles during the competition.

The World Table Tennis (WTT) is the arm of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), revolutionizing the sport since its inception in 2019. WTT events are considered highly prestigious in the table tennis world due to their rigorous competition standards and the platform they provide for emerging talents to compete alongside established stars.

Speaking on his achievement, Sahil Rawat said, “I’m overjoyed and proud to represent my country and win these two prestigious medals. The WTT Star Youth Contender series is particularly significant as it serves as a crucial stepping stone for young players aiming to make their mark in the professional circuit. These tournaments offer valuable ranking points and international exposure, playing a vital role in shaping the future of table tennis. Sahil’s success at this event is not just a personal achievement but a testament to India’s growing prowess in the sport.

This prestigious WTT event saw participation from ten countries, making it a highly competitive tournament. Sahil has shown great skill and determination to go through various levels in the competition. His journey to Silver and Bronze medals included some brilliant victories at the 16 rounds, the quarterfinals against the USA, the semifinals against another Indian competitor, and a fiercely contested final against Puerto Rico.

This was not the first time that Sahil participated in an international-level competition. Starting his professional journey in 2021 from Dehradun, he has earned a very impressive count of ten National medals and four international medals to his name, constantly proving that he is remarkable at table tennis. The doubles competition had been structured into Main Draw, Pre-Quarterfinals, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and the Finals.

Sahil started practising Table Tennis in 2017, and he has been trained under coaches namely Peter Nilson, Veer Saran, Manish Verma, and Halim. Currently, he is trained under Peter Nilson at PSPB Table Tennis Academy.

Mumbai, 5 August 2024: IIM Sambalpur, one of India’s premier management institutions, concluded its Management Immersion Programme (MIP), a four-day residential program for IILM University students aimed at providing immersive experience of management education and campus life at IIM Sambalpur. Scheduled from 30th July to 2nd August 2024, this immersive programme is designed to provide these 62 students from IILM University with unparalleled experiential learning experience in flipped classrooms, practical management insights and hands-on experience through various interactive sessions, workshops, and case studies conducted by IIM Sambalpur’s distinguished faculty and industry experts.

The Kelley School of Business at Indiana University is excited to announce the launch of its inaugural MSIS Global Case Competition in August 2024. This high-stakes competition aims to identify and attract top-tier talent for the Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) program, while elevating the program’s global visibility.

The competition will challenge undergraduate students from top universities across India to showcase their problem-solving, leadership and innovation skills. Today, in the first half the students participated in a noble activity as well, by visiting Jeevan Jyoti Ashram, an orphanage in Khandagiri near Jaydev Vatika with 40 female inmates. At the Ashram, they conducted an activity of using plastic waste to create decorative planters for indoor and outdoor plantations.

Baghpat youth used ICT to spark global conversation on World Nature Conservation Day, engaging 3,000+ participants. “Dear Mother Nature” postcard campaign spanned 55 countries, combining global outreach with local classroom activities.

Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, India – In an impressive voluntary effort, rural youth in India utilized technology for social good to promote the importance of nature conservation. The Udaan Youth Club, affiliated with Nehru Yuva Kendra Bagpat, developed global campaigns using ICT tools and collaborated with various institutions to reach thousands of people online. This initiative, held in celebration of World Nature Conservation Day on July 28, engaged around 3,000 participants, emphasizing the significance of environmental conservation and sustainable practices.

The club organized the “Dear Mother Nature Global Postcard Writing Competition,” which saw participants from 55 countries, spanning various age groups, expressing their gratitude to Mother Nature through postcards. This event highlighted the creativity and commitment of rural youth in India. Out of 590 entries, 345 postcards were selected and shared on social media, sparking global discussions on environmental conservation.

In Malaysia, the Keningau Vocational College conducted a local version of the postcard competition, where students created and presented their postcards in classrooms. Similarly, U.P.S. Composite School Jinai in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, held a related activity under the guidance of teacher Sweety Singh. These local chapters allowed students to deepen their understanding of environmental issues and demonstrated the role of creative expression in environmental education.

The Udaan Youth Club also hosted a national awareness quiz, attracting 2,261 participants. Of these, 1,500 individuals achieved perfect scores and received certificates of accomplishment. Additionally, 352 people participated in an online pledge program, committing to environmental conservation. Their pledges were shared on social media to show their dedication.

To recognize the outstanding contributions of participants, Udaan Youth Club posted photo posters and video messages of top performers on social media. The success of the activities was supported by platforms such as Mera Yuva Bharat, Contest 360, and nearly 30 other organizations. A comprehensive report of the campaign will be shared with the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change.

The campaign effectively used ICT tools to amplify local voices globally, encouraging people worldwide to support environmental conservation. This strategic use of technology facilitated widespread engagement and highlighted the collective responsibility towards environmental stewardship.

Unique aspects of the program included the use of ICT by rural youth, the global thinking of local youth, and the self-organized nature of the initiative. The campaign was popularized with the help of impact partners and included both global online activities and local classroom engagements. The choice of postcard writing reconnected people with nature in a personal way.

Mumbai, 26.07.2024 — The Krishnamurti Foundation India announces the release of its latest book, Teaching – The Greatest Profession. It contains six discussions that J. Krishnamurti held in 1984 with the teachers of the two schools he founded—Rishi Valley School and Rajghat Besant School. Providing a perspective that goes beyond conventional knowledge transfer and technical skill development, Krishnamurti emphasizes the importance and urgency of bringing about a deep psychological change in human beings through a different kind of education.

While technological knowledge is extremely valuable in this age, Krishnamurti cautions against placing too much emphasis on technique. Although these abilities are necessary to make a living, in his opinion, they shouldn’t take precedence over the need for a comprehensive understanding.
