New Delhi, 25th January, 2024: Amity University Online, India’s first university entitled to offer online degree programs, today announced a strategic partnership with leading global technology company HCLTech. Bengaluru, Kanpur 25th, 2024: Researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K), have unveiled new insights into the process of relaxation of turbulent binary fluids in a new study published in the journal ‘Communications Physics’ by Nature Group. This significant research on binary fluids, referring to a mixture such as oil and water, challenges existing theories of turbulent relaxation and opens new avenues in the practical application of binary fluid dynamics in science, engineering and various industries.

Upon vigorous stirring, a binary fluid becomes turbulent and form an intermediate phase with cell-like structures. The current study, led by Prof. Supratik Banerjee, along with research scholars Nandita Pan and Arijit Halder from the Department of Physics, IIT Kanpur, explores the detailed process how such a binary fluid relaxes when the stirring is withdrawn. This discovery by the IIT Kanpur team has profound implications for understanding and manipulating the properties of such fluids in industrial applications.

In particular, the research offers a quantitative analysis of how the bulk of each component fluid and their interface in a binary mixture relax back to a phase-separated state once the turbulence ceases. Interestingly, the relaxed state of the bulk turns up to be categorically different than that of the interface region. However, both relax through a universal pathway, namely the principle of vanishing nonlinear transfers (PVNLT) proposed by the same authors very recently (Banerjee, Halder and Pan, PRE Letters, 107, L043201, 2023). Furthermore, this relaxation process in binary fluids, as per the findings of the study, significantly differs from that in single-fluid systems. This distinction can be attributed to the conservation of an additional quantity called the ‘scalar energy’, which is pivotal in understanding this relaxation process.

Prof. Supratik Banerjee, Department of Physics at IIT Kanpur said, “The findings of our research hold immense potential for applications in industries such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics, where binary emulsions like mayonnaise, antacid emulsions, shampoos, and body creams are manufactured. The findings provide essential insights into the manufacturing and preservation processes. This can lead to more efficient production methods, reducing waste and costs. By understanding the unique relaxation properties of binary fluids, companies can optimize the stability and consistency of their products, ensuring longer shelf life and improved quality.”

He added, “Additionally, in pharmaceuticals, where the stability of emulsions is crucial for the efficacy of certain medications, this research can lead to enhanced drug formulations, ultimately improving patient outcomes.”

A notable aspect of the research is the challenge it poses to the widely accepted principle of selective decay, a theory that has long dominated understandings of turbulent relaxation but fails to account for finite pressure gradients in the relaxed state of binary fluids. The application of these findings in industrial settings will not only enhance product quality and sustainability but also drive innovation in formulation and processing techniques, potentially leading to the development of new products and applications.

Mumbai- The commencement of the 9th cohort of the joint Executive MBA(EMBA) programme between IIT Bombay and Washington University(WashU) in St. Louis also marks the launch of new initiatives by WashU in the realm of Graduate Education for Indian students.

The inaugural edition of the IIT Bombay-WashU Dialogues, a biannual congregation designed to bring together a select group of institutional leaders from top academic institutions, public intellectuals, and industry experts to deliberate upon the most significant challenges and opportunities in higher education was held recently at the IIT Bombay campus. Bangalore, 23rd January 2024: Referring to the rapid technological changes in the next ten years, Justice Dinesh Kumar, Judge, Karnataka High Court, emphasized the need for law teachers to be abreast of the latest developments and equip students.

He was speaking at the Southern Region Law Teachers Conclave 2023-24 organised by the RV University in collaboration with Manupatra recently. The theme of the Conclave is ‘Empowering Legal Educators for tomorrow’.

In his address as the Chief Guest, Justice Dinesh Kumar stressed the need for legal educators to undergo training on the implications of cyber law and related legislations to ensure that they remain at the forefront of evolving educational methodologies that incorporate technology.

Justice Dinesh Kumar spoke of the evolving nature of legal education by contrasting the methods employed by practitioners and scholars over different generations. He pointed out that observation and assistance under senior lawyers were no longer the sole source of learning and growth for the current crop of legal professionals. With the exponential increase in access to data and information, Justice Kumar highlighted the need for legal professionals to prepare for an imminent overhaul of the system in the next decade. He also referred to the paradigm shift that legal education has undergone since the 1990s with the introduction of five-year integrated law programmes.

On 19th January 2024, the Supreme Court Collegium headed by the Chief Justice of India, Mr. Justice Chandrachud, comprising Mr. Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Mr.  Justice BR Gavai has recommended the appointment of Mr. Justice Dinesh Kumar as the Chief Justice of Karnataka following the elevation of Mr. Justice Prasanna Varale to the Supreme Court of India.

In his welcome address, Prof. Y.S.R Murthy, Vice Chancellor, RV University expressed happiness over partnering with Manupatra in organising this conclave. The Conclave consisted of panel discussions and insights from around 20 eminent speakers across various law schools from South India. The speakers ranged from partners of law firms, general counsels of companies and legal academicians, all of whom deliberated on the essential competencies required for students of law and the role of law teachers in facilitating the development of these competencies. The discussions largely focused on the need for a blend of industry and academia to prepare students for the challenges of the professional world.

The scope of technology in all aspects of learning with the evolving landscape in preparing the law teachers for increasing competition and globalization was also emphasized. The sessions covered various dimensions of the challenges that the law teachers need to grapple in the 21st century and mechanisms to cope up with the pace and the need for thorough introspection on an individual basis and leadership roles. The sessions also underscored the need for a renewed  focus on inclusive education and furthering strong foundational and language skills for educators to create better suitable environments for better learners and a better tomorrow.

Hyderabad 20th January 2024: Two B. Tech Computer Science and Engineering students from KL Deemed to be University have attained top positions in the World in Q4 of 2023. Mohammed Fathima claimed the 1^stposition in the global rankings. while B. Harsha Sai Singh secured the coveted 2nd position. Both students are CEH Master Students and have demonstrated technical prowess and dedication, earning certification as Certified Ethical Hackers from EC-Council.

Under the guidance of mentors and faculty from KL Deemed to be University, these students successfully uncovered vulnerabilities across major operating systems, databases, and networks. Their cyber security skills were honed through rigorous challenges that included threat vector identification, network scanning, OS detection, vulnerability analysis, system/web hacking, and more. They excelled in a grueling 6-hour challenge replicating a real corporate network and solved 20 complex scenarios mirroring real-world challenges faced in the industry.

New Delhi & Rajkot, , 19th Jan 2024: To further promote women-led business, the Mawadi University (MU) in-house startup incubator MUIIR and the MU Women’s Cell has collaborated with the CII- Indian Women Network to promote gender equity, on National Startup Day. The collaboration aims at developing an early startup and entrepreneurial mindset for female students keen to explore entrepreneurship, startup development and professionalizing their family businesses. The startup ecosystem in this regard has been a trailblazer, according to a 2023 WISER Report, currently 18% of India’s startups are women-led.

Marwadi University Centre of Innovation, Incubation and Research (MUIIR), incepted in 2017, has with its government and industry partners, including, NewGen IEDC, SSIP, GoI MoE Innovation Cell, already funded close to 135 startups, initiated 200 plus patents, and funded more than INR 5Cr to boost the startup ecosystem in Gujarat. The university has also set up the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Family Business, to aid students in professionalizing and scale family-led businesses.

Prof. (Dr) Amit Sata, Associate Dean, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, at Marwadi University, said that, “If India is to become the third largest economy by 2030, significant strides will need to be made to promote female entrepreneurship. It’s imperative that we fast-track female progression in and tackle any impeding barriers to innovation and entrepreneurship.”
