The Association of Indian Forging Industry (AIFI) and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency Sign MoU to Promote Energy-Efficient Technologies in the Forging Industry

22nd July 2025: The Association of Indian Forging Industry (AIFI), the apex body representing the Indian forging sector, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India. This landmark partnership marks a significant step toward promoting sustainable manufacturing practices within the forging industry under the Assistance for Deployment of Energy Efficient Technologies in Industrial Establishments (ADEETIE) scheme. This crucial MoU was signed in the presence of the Hon’ble Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal.

The ADEETIE scheme, launched by the Ministry of Power and implemented by BEE, is aimed at enabling MSMEs across 14 energy-intensive sectors, including forging to adopt best-in-class energy-efficient technologies. With a comprehensive approach, the scheme offers interest subvention on technology adoption loans, handholding support for investment-grade energy audits, guidance on project implementation, and post-deployment monitoring. It also includes the establishment of a dedicated project management unit and a nodal banking partner to streamline execution.

Mr. Yash Munot, President of AIFI, emphasized the significance of the partnership, saying, “This collaboration with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency marks a significant step forward for the Indian forging industry. As one of the most energy-intensive sectors, forging stands to benefit immensely from the structured support offered under the ADEETIE scheme. By enabling access to financial incentives and technical guidance, this initiative will empower MSMEs to adopt cutting-edge, energy-efficient technologies. With a total budgetary outlay of ₹1,000 crore, the scheme will support over ₹9,000 crore in anticipated investments, including ₹6,750 crore in prospective MSME lending. Forging units will benefit from interest subvention rates of 5% for micro and small enterprises and 3% for medium enterprises, helping them overcome financial barriers to adopting energy-efficient solutions.

However, the high energy consumption in our processes has presented persistent cost and sustainability challenges. The ADEETIE scheme launched by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency is a timely and forward-looking initiative that directly addresses these issues. Through this MoU, AIFI will serve as a vital link between forging enterprises and the government, facilitating access to fiscal incentives such as interest subvention, and providing technical guidance on energy audits, project formulation, and implementation.

Delhi, India , July 18, 2025: Tenable, the exposure management company, has identified a Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Code Editor, a service designed for developers working within Oracle’s Cloud Shell ecosystem. This vulnerability could have allowed attackers to run malicious code on a server without needing direct access.

The RCE vulnerability enables threat actors to silently hijack a victim’s Cloud Shell environment, with just one click by the victim and potentially move across other OCI services. Once compromised, an attacker could execute arbitrary commands, access sensitive credentials, and pivot to other OCI services like Resource Manager, Functions, and Data Science. This could lead to broader system compromise, data exfiltration, or deployment of persistent backdoors, especially if the compromised environment had elevated privileges or access to other critical services.

According to Tenable Research, the main problem was that the Code Editor’s file upload feature didn’t properly check if requests were coming from where they should. This made it possible for a bad website to trick a user’s browser into uploading harmful files without the user knowing, as long as they were logged into their Oracle Cloud account. When the victim next opens their Cloud Shell, the malicious code in the uploaded file would automatically run.

This RCE vulnerability seen in OCI exemplifies what Tenable has coined the Jenga® Concept, the tendency for cloud providers to build services on top of one another, thus security risks and weaknesses in one layer cascade into other services.

“Similar to the game of Jenga®, extracting one block can compromise the integrity of the whole structure,” said Liv Matan, Senior Security Researcher at Tenable. “Cloud services, especially with their deep integrations and shared environments, function similarly; if a hidden integration or shared environment introduces a weakness, those risks can cascade into dependent services, significantly increasing the potential for security breaches. Our OCI research underscores the critical importance of scrutinising these interconnected systems.”

Oracle has already fixed this vulnerability, and no additional action is required from users.
