India’s Sleep Snore Card by Centuary Mattresses on World Sleep Day reveals 85% of people have woken up from sleep due to their partner’s snoring

Mumbai, 18 March 2023: To adjudge and evaluate how Indians perceive the importance of sleep quality, Centuary Mattresses, a leading mattress brand in India, conducted a comprehensive survey on the occasion of World Sleep Day. The theme for World Sleep Day for 2023 is ‘Sleep Is Essential for Health’. The survey revealed that 70% of respondents are bothered by their partner’s snoring.

As per India’s Sleep Snore Card survey, about 7 in 10 couples have ended up waking up their partners at least once in the same sleep cycle due to snoring. Around 7 in 10, couples have also recorded their partner’s snoring, and 32% of married couples feel that their partner’s snoring is similar to the sound of a motorcycle.

India’s Sleep Snore Card survey was conducted among more than 2700 respondents in the age group 27 to 50 years from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Patna, and Guwahati.

The survey highlighted that 67% of the respondents felt that snoring could be linked with a tired day of work and has a little link with health considerations and sleep quality. Furthermore, around 45% of people linked snoring with obesity. There were other factors, such as most people (around 55%) believing that snoring can be tackled with simple remedies without changing the surroundings.

However, many factors showed how Indians have started to look at the importance of sleep quality through mutual discussions to change their lifestyles and sleeping habits. For instance, 36% of the people acknowledged the importance of having the correct mattress and pillow for sound sleep. Also, 71% of people agreed to talk about the snoring issue with their partners.

The importance of sleep quality and the negative impact of snoring on an individual’s health has been agreed upon by the medical fraternity.

Commenting on the outcomes of the survey, UttamMalani, Executive Director at Centuary Mattresses, said, “The survey results are a wake-up call for people to take sleep issues such as snoring seriously as it can impact both health issues and interpersonal relationships. Poor quality of sleep and its impact on health and interpersonal relationships are ignored, which can have long-term implications. With this survey on World Sleep Day, our goal is to increase awareness about the issues plaguing people’s sleep. We are doing our bit in helping people sleep better by providing them with good sleep enabling products with *antimicrobial treated mattresses and pillows* to improve sleep quality”[aP6]

Commenting on the myths related to snoring and quality sleep, Dr.JagdishChaturvedi, Nose, and Sinus Surgeon in Bengaluru, said, “The survey clearly shows that more people are aware of their sleep issues such as snoring problem and accepting it as well. It is high time that people start addressing this problem with doctor interventions. In the long term, not taking the doctor’s advice on snoring can have other health implications.”

Century Products are antimicrobial treated which is approved by the National Health Academy making its quality better for sleep requirements.

Apart from the generic habits, the survey helped understand how people ignore the critical value of surroundings for a comfortable sleep. The survey also suggested that women from Tier II cities have a more comfortable sleep as compared to other respondents.

Right taxation and regulation will help catapult the online gaming industry to make India a global gaming hub

March 18, 2023; New Delhi: The Online Gaming sector in India is a rapidly growing industry that holds the promise of contributing significantly to India’s goal of becoming a $1 trillion digital economy, generating substantial employment, and fostering innovation. The gaming industry, despite being in its initial stages, has already produced three unicorns and is likely to contribute more to the Indian start-up sector given there are more than 500 gaming studios in the country. A report titled “Online Gaming in India: The Taxation Quandary” by Primus Partners in association with Policy Watch India Foundation gives an overview of the online gaming sector while highlighting the challenges faced by the users and the industry, especially with respect to taxation. The report also highlights that regulation of online gaming will not only open up economic opportunities but also address various social issues.

Nilaya Varma, CEO & Co-Founder, of Primus Partners India said, “A robust and enabling regulatory framework for a dynamic sector like online gaming would ensure a responsible, transparent, and safe environment for all. The online gaming sector holds tremendous potential if it is encouraged with the right regulatory support from the government and a growth-friendly tax regime that keeps the users as well as the industry’s interests in mind.”

The report cites that announcements in Budget 2023-2024 are otherwise positive for the sector as it has addressed the persistent ask to incorporate the offset of losses in the calculation of gains from online games for income tax. While a definition for “Net Winnings” is awaited, the report illustrates an ideal methodology.

It also highlights that over-taxation would gradually lead to attrition of legitimate players, perhaps to illegal offshore gambling apps, reduce revenues for legitimate gaming companies, and in turn result in a loss to the exchequer by way of reduced direct and indirect taxes.

A pertinent issue relating to the implementation mechanism proposed in Budget 2023-24 for TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) on online games has been highlighted in the report. The issue has arisen due to amendments to section 194B under which online gaming is currently covered from 1st April 2023, and the separate provision on online gaming i.e section 194BA coming into force from 1st July 2023, leading to an anomaly. It would be ideal to streamline the applicability of the amendments for “online game” and establish a singular effective date of April 1, 2023. Alternatively, the current tax regime could be continued for the period between April 1, 2023, to June 30, 2023, to eliminate any discrepancies in interpretation. The recurrent developments will also lead to higher costs for the industry resulting in unnecessary expenses that will be difficult to bear for several smaller and mid-size gaming companies, according to the Primus Partners report.

On the GST front, the report cites evidence from countries where the sector has developed to show the GGR (Gross Gaming Revenue) tax model enables the industry to flourish. Levying GST on the total face value would be a departure from established practices, besides making the sector unviable. The recent changes in TDS on income from the prize pool in online gaming without any threshold should be considered by the GST Council.

Online gaming is a rapidly growing industry expected to grow at a CAGR of around 27% over the next five years in India. The sector holds a huge potential to boost India’s GDP and is anticipated to be a significant job generator, with the ability to add more than 1 million jobs by 2030, making a remarkable contribution to India’s growth story.

Adarsh Sharma, Managing Director, Primus Partners India said, “A favourable and conducive environment has been established by the government to facilitate seamless growth of the online gaming industry. The Hon’ble Prime Minister’s emphasis that the global gaming sector possesses enormous potential, and that India must explore to increase its footprint in it, is the government’s reaffirmation and one that would pave the way for a promising and optimistic future.”

Spirit AeroSystems, Astraius join forces to boost UK launch ambitions

spirit systems

Scotland – March 18 – Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., and Astraius Ltd. announced today a collaboration to enhance future satellite launch capabilities from Prestwick Spaceport.

During a visit to the Spaceport by Scottish Government Minister for Business, Trade, Tourism, and Enterprise Ivan McKee, the companies commemorated the announcement with a signing ceremony.

Prestwick Spaceport, a joint partnership between Glasgow Prestwick Airport and South Ayrshire Council, aims to become Europe’s premier location for carrying small satellites into orbit via “air launch,” a proven technique that enables a rocket to reach space after being launched from an aircraft that has flown out to an ideal location over the ocean.

Spirit and Astraius – both located within Prestwick’s developing space cluster – are working to advance and accelerate the system components and key processes required for the Astraius horizontal launch platform. The U.K. government has made the orbital launch a key priority, with the National Space Strategy outlining plans to secure an increased portion of a global space economy expected to be worth £490bn by 2030. The space sector in the U.K. already employs over 45,000 people, with Scotland accounting for one-fifth of that figure.

Scott McLarty, Spirit Senior Vice President, Airbus and Regional/Business Jet Programs, said Spirit’s sites in both Scotland and Northern Ireland are well placed to support and develop a robust and sustainable space sector.

“Spirit is well-positioned to develop new skills and technologies to contribute to the U.K.’s resilience and supply chain in the space sector and support high-value manufacturing regional hubs,” he said. “We are delighted to be working with Astraius to explore opportunities to contribute further to the expansion of the U.K. Space Sector, through the design, manufacturing, integration and testing of aerostructures for launch activities.”

Astraius’ horizontal launch solution leverages the accessibility of C-17 transport aircraft, combining innovative technology with proven delivery platforms that remove the reliance on individually modified aircraft and increase responsiveness. The company brings together an international team with experience in commercial space launches and operations, to offer an affordable solution that caters to the growing demand for payloads designed to carry out a variety of tasks from orbit, such as monitoring climate change and supporting disaster relief efforts.

Astraius Chief Executive Officer Kevin Seymour stated, “This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is the first step in what I’m confident will be a long-term partnership with Spirit AeroSystems. Spirit’s advanced manufacturing expertise and world-class facilities can significantly bolster our development roadmap, bringing together UK engineering excellence with proven horizontal launch technology. With both companies located in Prestwick, Scotland’s largest aerospace cluster, our collaboration is further testament to the proactive and vibrant space ecosystem developing around Prestwick Spaceport.”

On the collaboration between Spirit and Astraius, Minister Ivan McKee commented, “There is great potential and opportunities in the space sector in Scotland with the first orbital launch from Scottish soil due this year. That is why we have identified the sector as a priority in our National Strategy for Economic Transformation. Our ambition is clear, we want to become Europe’s leading space nation by 2030. The signing of this MoU is great news, and it is another positive step in the development of space and aerospace opportunities in Prestwick. Spirit AeroSystems brings a wealth of capability and technologies that can support further growth of the space sector in Scotland, and I am excited about the innovative developments Spirit and Astraius can bring to Prestwick.”

Ian Annett, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the U.K. Space Agency, said: “We are committed to becoming the leading provider of commercial small satellite launches in Europe by 2030 and we welcome the partnership between Spirit AeroSystems and Astraius, which brings Astraius another step closer towards conducting a launch from the U.K. Developing orbital launch capabilities is already helping the space sector to generate growth across science and engineering supply chains, catalyze investment, create new jobs and career paths, and inspire the next generation of space professionals all over the U.K.”

Origin and AU Group announce their partnership

au group

Mumbai, Maharashtra: Origin, a leading trade credit insurance provider in India, and AU Group – the world’s leading independent broker specialised in trade receivables, headquartered in Paris – today announced a strategic partnership. This partnership marks an important milestone for both companies : and it will enable Origin to provide a wider range of insurance products and services to its customers and AU Group will extend its geographical scope and service capabilities.

Trade credit insurance has become increasingly important in India, given the volatile nature of the global economy. The partnership will enable Origin to offer a comprehensive range of trade credit insurance products and services to its customers, including coverage for political risk, non-payment, bankruptcy, and insolvency and this is aligned with the AU Group’s development strategy.

According to recent industry reports, the penetration of trade credit insurance in India is low, with less than 5% of Indian Corporates taking out such policies to mitigate their trade risks – domestic and exports. This is in sharp contrast to developed economies where trade credit insurance penetration rates are much higher and part of the sales process. This low penetration can be attributed to a lack of awareness and understanding of the benefits of trade credit insurance among Indian Corporates, as well as a limited availability of such products in the Indian market.

The partnership between Origin and AU Group will raise awareness about the importance of trade credit insurance and Political Risk, and will to expand the availability of such products to Indian corporates. With AU Groups’s expertise in Trade Credit Insurance, Political Risks and Surety Bonds as well as and Origin’s strong presence in India, the partnership is poised to deliver innovative and comprehensive solutions to the Indian market.

Talking about the first time she shared screen space with Upendra, Shriya said, “The first time I met him we were shooting for the song Namaami Namaami. It’s beautifully choreographed by Chinni sir. The crew mentioned that Upendra sir is coming on set and everyone around was talking about him. Suddenly he walked in while I was learning my dance steps. I turned back and saw him in his regal outfit as he is dressed as a king in the song. He was smiling even though everyone around him was very quiet and serious. He walked in with a big smile and was full of laughter. He is a superstar but doesn’t act like one. He is simply in love with his film set and is having a good time. For him it’s really hard to accept appreciation but it’s very easy for him to appreciate and praise others, and that speaks volumes about him.

As if on cue, Upendra started praising Shriya. “When I heard that you are doing this movie, I thought wow! Just a dream come true. I’d approached you for two-three movies in the past, but you were so busy, acting in so many Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil movies,” he said.
