Star Sports Experts doff their hat to Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni after CSK’s Super Show at Wankhede

Chennai Super Kings cruised to a near-perfect win against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium and MS Dhoni’s fans couldn’t have asked for a better performance. The legendary captain marshaled his troops exceedingly well in a battle of champions on Super Saturday.

The tactical acumen of ‘captain cool’ Dhoni came to the forefront yet again as he utilized the potential of his players to the best of their abilities and outfoxed Rohit Sharma & Co. Lauding MS Dhoni for his captaincy moves, former India cricketer Ravi Shastri said the former India skipper had every trick up his sleeve as he assessed the pitch well.

Speaking to Star Sports, the official TV broadcaster of TATA IPL, Ravi Shastri said, “MS Dhoni made excellent use of Santner and Jadeja against Mumbai Indians batters. He knew that on such wickets these two can turn the tide, and that is why he showed more confidence in them.”

Jadeja was at his best against arch-rivals as the star India all-rounder picked up three wickets and took that sensational reflex catch of Cameron Green – which the experts dubbed as the catch of the tournament.

Speaking to Star Sports, the official TV broadcaster of TATA IPL, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh said, “Ravindra Jadeja is a superhero in the true sense. He can turn the match in his team’s favour anytime with the ball or the bat. Not everyone can take the catch he took of Cameron Green. He is such a special player.”

Sunil GavaskarSpeaking to Star Sports, the official TV broadcaster of TATA IPL, former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar said, “Like his captain, Jadeja is absolutely fearless. Green’s catch is like making a possibility out of the improbable. No matter how much you praise this player, it is less.”

But the show-stopper of the evening was a Mumbai boy albeit in CSK’s yellow jersey, Rahane – who played a knock for the ages. Playing his first game for CSK, the India cricketer made everyone fall in love with his classical stroke play, again.

Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh hailed Rahane’s knock as every shot the talented batter played, oozed class.

Speaking to Star Sports, the official TV broadcaster of TATA IPL, Harbhajan Singh said, “There are no words to praise this knock from Rahane. This inning is going to be will be remembered for years as Rahane has shown his true class. We had all forgotten about his batting style, but now we have a clear idea of his class.”

Gujarat Titans look capable of defending their TATA IPL title: Sanjay Manjrekar

Defending Champions Gujarat Titans will lock horns with a resurgent Kolkata Knight Riders in their second TATA IPL 2023 home game at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

One of the biggest reasons for Gujarat Titans’ consistently good performance in TATA IPL is the approach of their captain and the coaching staff.

According to former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, captain Hardik Pandya and head coach Ashish Nehra keep the atmosphere in the squad light and a chilled-out dressing room helps the players bring their A-game every time they step on the pitch.

Speaking to Star Sports, the official TV broadcaster of TATA IPL, Sanjay Manjrekar said, “Hardik is a successful captain because he does not take the game too seriously. Also, Ashish Nehra takes care of the tactical side and that is the reason why this team really seems to be playing as a unit. They proved it by winning the title last season and this season they beat CSK and confirmed that they are ready to defend their title.”

In the second game of Super Sunday, a strong Punjab Kings side will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have lost both their opening games. All eyes will be on young England all-rounder Sam Curran – who is the costliest buy in the history of TATA IPL. Impressed with the performance of the team, former India cricketer Virender Sehwag claims bowlers are going to hold the key for the Shikhar Dhawan-led side in this edition.

Speaking to Star Sports, the official TV broadcaster of TATA IPL, Virender Sehwag said, “Sam Curran will prove to be a very important bowler for Punjab Kings. He had a stellar run in the T20 World Cup and that confidence will work in his, as well as the team’s favour. Apart from Curran, Arshdeep Singh, Rahul Chahar, and Kagiso Rabada will be seen providing strength to this team. Overall Punjab looks very strong as a bowling unit.”

Actors Rupali Ganguly and Gaurav Khanna lend their support to Whisper’s #KeepGirlsInSchool Campaign

Mumbai: April 10, 2023 – Actors Rupali Ganguly and Gaurav Khanna are taking on Whisper’s mantle to educate mothers on the biology of periods. Both actors took to their social media handles to talk about how important it was to include ‘The Missing Chapter’ in the curriculum of schools so that adolescent girls don’t miss a single day of studies during their periods because of age-old taboos and misinformation.

Feminine-care brand Whisper, from the house of Procter & Gamble, recently launched the fourth edition of its #KeepGirlsInSchool campaign with a film titled ‘The Missing Chapter’. Conceptualized by Leo Burnett, through the film, Whisper aims to empower mothers with the right knowledge on period care, so that they in turn, can educate their daughters on menstrual hygiene and on using sanitary pads during their monthly cycles.

Rupali Ganguly and Gaurav Khanna both highlighted that in most parts of India, mothers themselves are unaware of the biological workings of their body during menstruation leaving 71% of the girls in India not aware about periods when they first get them. As a result, young girls have limited knowledge on how to manage their periods and prefer to stay home during period days every month. ‘The Missing Chapter’ aims to break this cycle of ignorance carried on through generations of mothers who were themselves never educated about this natural process.

Rupa Ganguli“I strongly believe that menstrual education is a huge gap in our society and has to be addressed as it is so critical for the growth and development of our girls from an early age. Unfortunately, many young girls don’t know about this natural process and don’t have access to sanitary pads. This leads to misconceptions and taboos around periods. Whisper’s KGIS campaign is doing an incredible job of educating young girls and women about menstrual health and hygiene and I’m very happy to support this cause,” said Rupali Ganguly, known for her stellar act in Anupamaa.

G0urava Khanna

“Not only young girls, we, as a society, need to be comfortable talking about periods and making an effort to understand what women and young girls go through every month. It is the most natural process in the world, and should be common knowledge to all. Whisper’s focus and dedication to creating awareness about periods and making sanitary products available to one and all is commendable and I am honoured to be associated with the brand,” said Gaurav Khanna who has acted in popular series like Anupamaa and Tere Bin.

“We are thrilled to have actors like Rupali and Gaurav take forward our message to a larger audience and thank them for their support of Whisper’s KGIS campaign. When included in the curriculum of schools across India, ‘The Missing Chapter’ has the power to completely change the way adolescent girls and unaware mothers perceive periods both in rural and urban India. It will change the entire dynamics of our society. Less girls will drop out of school because of their periods and more dreams will be realised, more aspirations will be fulfilled and that is the ultimate goal we are working towards with our KGIS campaign,” said Girish Kalyanaraman, Vice President and Category Leader, Feminine Care, Procter & Gamble India.

Whisper launched its #KeepGirlsInSchool Campaign in the year 2020 to shed light on ‘Missing Girls’ from Indian schools every month. They continued with the thought-provoking campaign in 2021 highlighting, ‘Missing Future’ of girls who dropped out of schools during their periods. In 2022, the brand brought to notice the ‘The Missing Chapter’ on periods in the school syllabi highlighting an important question – how long a Missing Chapter can be kept away from the Indian education system?

This campaign has struck the right chord with viewers who are seen lauding Whisper’s efforts to go the extra mile to spread period awareness.

Hyderabad kick-off Hero Super Cup campaign against Aizawl FC

Hyderabad kick-off Hero Super Cup

Manjeri: Manolo Marquez’s Hyderabad FC is back in action for the first time after the penalty shootout defeat in Kolkata, as they take on Aizawl FC in Hero Super Cup Group B clash at the Payyanad Stadium in Manjeri, in a 5:00 pm kick-off on Sunday, April 9.

HFC will play in their first-ever Super Cup campaign and will look to make a strong start against the I-League side. The Reds, on the other hand, beat TRAU FC in the Super Cup qualifier earlier this month, to register a place in the group stage of the competition.

The Aizawl FC side, currently under Coach Victor Lalbiakmawia, beat TRAU FC 1-0 in their qualifier at Manjeri. Belarus attacker Ivan Veras found the back of the net in that game and could be a danger man for Hyderabad in this game as well.

HFC Head Coach Manolo Marquez spoke to the media ahead of this game and believes that there is no place for complacency in a competition like the Hero Super Cup.

“It is going to be a tough game for our side. We have not played a single game for three weeks now while Aizawl recently beat TRAU and have been preparing for this competition for a slightly longer time,” said Manolo.

“We know that we need to win every game to qualify for the knockouts but Aizawl have a strong squad with quality players and if we lose, I think we do not deserve to qualify in the end,” he added.

Hyderabad named their first team squad for the Super Cup campaign with the likes of Bart Ogbeche, Joao Victor, Halicharan Narzary, Borja Herrera, Javi Siverio, Joel Chianese, and Odei Onaindia all set to play a role in this competition.

Laxmikant Kattimani misses out, nursing his injury but Hyderabad has enough quality to put on a strong performance against The Reds in this tie.

The game kicks off at 5:00 pm IST and will be telecasted live on Sony Sports 2 with live streaming on Fancode.

Green Heart Competition: A Student-Led Initiative for Plastic Waste Management and Environmental

Green heat comptition

The color RED is synonymous with the heart. Then why Green Heart? This green heart competition was conducted especially for Mother Earth. Before I tell you What is Green Heart Competition? I would like to share what is the inspiration behind this. It was a question that my son asked me. He was preparing for his TED ED speech. The topic was creating an interactive worksheet for segregating plastic from the source. He researched found the 5 R’s – refuse, reduces, reuses, repurposes, and recycle. The question was about the plastic that comes in packed food items like milk, flour, biscuit, Maggi, etc we cannot refuse, reduce, reuse, or repurpose as students. Even this plastic is not accepted by vendors for recycling. As a student, if I want to stop plastic from going to landfill what should be done?

My son’s curiosity and observation led to the existence of the GREEN HEART Competition. So we decided the steps on how can we make it possible

1) Plastic should be segregated from the source – this will reduce the plastic going into landfills.
2) Easy Storage – Once segregated, clean the plastic, then start stuffing it in plastic bottles. Stuffing should be very tight. squeezing plastic without leaving any space for air even. Making it an ECO-BRICK.
3) Easy disposal – Once the eco-bricks are made. They would be collected and handed over to KESAV SITA Foundation which converts the plastic into eco-fuel.

This was end to end solution of the plastic when collected at the source and converted into fuel. The challenge is the collection of plastic at the source. Answering my son’s question we launched Green Heart Competition. Students need to prepare the eco-bricks. Submit them to the school. Students who make a high number of eco-bricks would be rewarded. This is a habit-formation step. A complete month was given to make the eco-bricks.

Schools like Suyog Sunderji Wisdom School Wagholi, PDA’s English Medium School, Akrudi, Trinity International School, Yewalewadi, Maher NGO, Swasaya Foundation, Zilla Parishad School – Janta Vidyalaya, a small rural school in a remote village called Rakshaswadi in Daund District participated in this competition. More than 500 Students have participated. We were able to collect plastic of more than 120kg.

Few people like Mita Banerjee, and Headmaster Shingade from Janta Vidyalaya create the hallmark of serving Mother Earth. There is a ritual in this school. Every Friday students need to collect plastic from their nearby villages and submit it to school. To date, this school has collected more than 200kg of plastic. They have actually made it a lifestyle for their students. Every month these students collect and send it to school. From school either Mitaji or from Kesav Sita Foundation or any tempo from the village bring these bottles to Pune. They are finally given for conversion into fuel.

I am so grateful to Megha Chandvankar ma’am and Geeta Malkhani ma’am from Suyog Sunderji Wisdom School, Rupali Dhamdhere ma’am from Trinity International School, Priti Dabade Ma’am From PDEA’s English Medium School, Mr. Mangesh Pol from Maher NGO, and Ms. Shilpa from Swasya for encouraging children to become the building block in making the mother earth greener.

I am also grateful to Er. Ravishankar from IDYM for giving me an opportunity to speak at the global platform about the initiative in International Environment Protection and Awareness IEPAC 2023 conference.

Now are making this Green Heart Competition into Green Heart Campaign for throughout the year. Let us make the lifestyle of future generations segregate plastic at source. If the young generation is aware, trained, and molded in a decade we would have cooler Earth. Let’s join hands together for a greater purpose with small baby steps making changes at the grass root level.

Former Secretary, School Education, Govt of India, Mr Anil Swarup, inaugurates ‘IPTTA-Fest

IPTTA-Fest

Hyderabad, April 10th, 2023: The one-day ‘IPTTA-Fest – 10’, hosted by IPTTA – Integrated Preschool Teachers Training Academy, was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. Anil Swarup, IAS (Retd.), Former Secretary, School Education, Govt. of India; Founder Chairman, Nexus of Good and author of the bestseller ‘Not Just a Civil Servant’; today at the State Gallery of Fine Arts, Madhapur. Guest of Honour Ms. Sultana Moidu, a renowned early childhood education expert; graced the occasion. Ms. Sonal Andrews, Director and founder of IPTTA; fifty aspiring candidates graduating from IPTTA, school principals, teachers from various schools, and inquisitive parents, were present on the occasion.

IPTTA-Fest is a unique exhibition of innovative teaching aids for pre-primary and primary teachers and all other stakeholders of Early Childhood Education. Teaching aids primarily help children to grasp and develop prerequisite skills and learn difficult-to-comprehend concepts with an element of fun. Teaching aids make classrooms more interactive, children more attentive, and enhance their brain development during early years. The Aids are made from indigenous material, with multipurpose utility, and could be used at different levels.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Anil Swarup said, I am so glad at the work IPTTA is doing here. What IPTTA is doing is very essential for school education in this country. Something which is now being recognized in the National Educational Policy is that the development of the child in the initial years is extremely important, something which was ignored earlier, but is being addressed now. But organizations like IPTTA are providing teachers who are capable and trained to teach something which not everyone can do, but I am glad that IPTTA is doing that through its training. My hope and wish is that this model they set up gets scaled and more and more teachers get benefitted from the training that is given here. In India, there is no dearth of ideas but for that idea to fructify and sustain for a period of time it has to overcome several challenges and that’s a tough job. But its people like you who keep telling us, that despite all these constraints if things can happen, we can also make them happen. That’s the source for inspiration to meet with performers and deliverers like you. I am glad that I am here with you people, I made a round of the exhibition and see some phenomenal work being done. You are touching upon a very crucial aspect of school education. One thing I understood is that the brain of a child gets made in the first six or seven years and fortunately the new education policy focuses on developing the mind of a young child and that’s what you are also doing. My only desire is that the good work you are doing gets to be known and others tend to replicate what you are doing here, because the ultimate objective should be scaling the good work.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonal Ravi Andrews said, Teaching aids can play a crucial role in facilitating learning and making it more interactive and engaging for children. By using teaching aids, teachers create a more dynamic learning environment that caters to different learning styles and abilities. IPTTA-Fest is showcasing some innovative ways of teaching difficult concepts, simplifying the entire learning process to be in sync with the child’s perspective, thus enabling the kid to comprehend easily. Children have a short attention span, teachers can grab and prolong their attention through interesting and innovative teaching aids, she adds.

IPTTA-Fest – 10, had over 100 innovative teaching aids and 300 activities, conceived and created by the outgoing batch of fifty early childhood teachers from IPTTA. The creative collection for this year’s exhibition revolves around the theme, Geochrome – colors and shapes. They are presented in the form of stories, rhymes, language, math, EVS, art and craft, games, and activities. These teaching aids and activities encompass the syllabus of pre-primary and up to grade 2 curriculum. The exhibits are designed to grab the attention of students and make them learn complex and abstract concepts in a lucid and coherent way. The Aids comprise of puppets, interactive books, multisensorial creative techniques, live counters, takeaways, etc. Each of them is used to achieve specific learning objectives to make learning interesting. IPTTA-Fest – 10, the exhibition is in sync with National Educational Policy (NEP) 2020 and National Curriculum Framework (NCF) for Early Years Education.

Sonal Ravi Andrews said, through IPTTA Fest, we are creating a platform for teachers at the Pre-primary and Primary level to learn and share innovative methods of teaching, which are easily replicable and within the budgetary constraints that schools have. IPTTA’s objective is to make classroom learning for pre-primary school children interesting and teaching aids are the foundation for good learning. Every year IPTTA-Fest, brings more than a hundred teaching aids on one theme, to make every class interesting to the kid. With today’s children being overloaded with digital inputs, for them to feel and touch things will make a lot of difference and that’s what teaching aids do. More than 700 teachers visited the exhibition from across the city and neighborhood, to learn and share their knowledge, to evolve innovative and best practices in the Early Child Education area. This exhibition was an excellent opportunity for those in the teaching profession and parents to see innovative and original methods of imparting knowledge while being able to grab the attention and get the child interested, she adds.

IPTTA-Fest is a unique platform for aspiring pre-primary and primary teachers studying at IPTTA to showcase their talent and knowledge acquired from the yearlong diploma program. Around thirty participants exhibited their works which were innovative, easy to comprehend for the child, and could be replicated conveniently in the classroom.
