FILA’s latest campaign marks the 50th anniversary of the brand’s debut in the world of sports

~Under the title ‘Numbers are Just Numbers without Love’, the campaign aims to highlight FILA’s sports heritage while communicating the passion that has driven the brand over the past half-century~

4th July 2023: Leading sportswear brand FILA is all set to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its remarkable journey in the world of sports by launching a new digital campaign featuring real voices and experiences of its ambassadors.

FILA unveiled its iconic F-Box logo in 1973, marking the brand’s debut in the world of sports. Over the last half-century, FILA has been worn by extraordinary athletes at the most iconic moments in sport. Highlighting the brand’s rich history, its impact on sports culture and its commitment to excellence and innovation, the campaign features a powerful line-up of FILA ambassadors both past and present including such as iconic Björn Borg, Suzanne Schulting, Grant Hill, Reinhold Messner, Alessandra Chillemi and Reilly Opelka.

Significantly titled, “Numbers are just Numbers without Love”; FILA not only aims to convey the profound passion that has fueled the brand throughout its 50-year journey in the sporting world, but also how each of its champions have always proved that there are more things at play than just the records they set.

The film starts with a poignant line- “What is being number one without following your own beat”? which sets the tone for an inspirational narrative that goes beyond winning for the sake of victory alone and doing more of what we love.

The digital film recounts a series of such stories to bring the endearing campaign message to life. Like the historic event when Soldini selflessly abandoned his solo round-the-world race to rescue Isabelle Autisser who was shipwrecked in the vastness of the Pacific Ocean, an act of compassion that exemplified how FILA’s champions embody values such as courage, empathy, and solidarity. Or when FILA recognized and highlighted the environmental efforts associated with Reinhold Messner’s mountain ascents – an authentic demonstration towards sustainability and conscious practices. By using their voices, the campaign instills a bold message and closes on a thought-provoking note- “And what are 50 years of performance without love?” alluding to the brand’s journey in the world of sports.

Audi India sales grow 97% in H1 2023

Mumbai,4th July 2023: Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, continued its robust sales performance on the back of strong demand, growth in the luxury car segment, evolving demographics and favorable economic conditions. The brand has retailed 3,474 units in the period January – June 2023 registering a growth of 97% compared to the same period last year.

Audi Approved: plus (the pre-owned car business) grew by 53% in the first six months of 2023. Audi India continues the expansion of its pre-owned car business, Audi Approved: plus in India. Currently operating with twenty-three Audi Approved: plus facilities across all major hubs in the country, the brand is expanding and will have twenty-seven plus pre-owned car facilities by the end of 2023.

Taking forward the electrification strategy, Audi India recently announced an industry-first initiative for EV owners – ‘Charge my Audi’ on the ‘myAudiConnect’ app. It is a one-stop solution that gives Audi e-tron customers access to multiple electric vehicle charging partners on one app. 750+ charge points are currently available to Audi e-tron owners on ‘Charge my Audi’ with more to be added in the next few months.

Mumbai, India —4th July 2023— La Fondation Dassault Systèmes today announced that the top three winners of the ‘Made in 3D – Seed The Future Entrepreneurs’ program are invited by Atal Innovation Mission to present their innovations at Shikhar, the G20 Startup20 Summit to be held on the 3rd and 4thof July at Gurugram, India. The G20 Startup20 Summit will host over 150 entrepreneurs and their start-ups across the world. These 150 start-ups include only three student start-ups, the winners of La Fondation Dassault Systèmes’ ‘Made in 3D – Seed The Future Entrepreneurs’ program.

Made in 3D – Seed The Future Entrepreneurs program was initially conceptualized by La main à la Pate Foundation in France and La Fondation Dassault Systèmes in Europe. La Fondation Dassault Systèmes in India adopted this program in 2020 and it has now been executing this program in collaboration with the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) of NITI Aayog – Government of India since the year 2021-22. The program aims to foster innovation and entrepreneurship amongst students by introducing them to product design, 3D digital technologies, 3D printing, and product promotion, as well as to the culture of ‘makers’ and start-ups. In this highly acknowledged program, students work as startups, conceptualizing, designing, and creating physical products using advanced collaboration tools, specialized 3D design software, and 3D printing technology.

For season 2022-23 of the program,600 students from 100 schools selected from 31 states and union territories of India, aged 12 to 16 years create pseudo-startups to develop their dream products with the help of 200 teachers and 150 volunteers. The students conceptualized, designed, and created physical products using advanced collaboration tools, specialized 3D design software, and 3D printing technology.

The winners of the third edition of Made in 3D were announced on 24th June in Pune in the presence of Mr. ChintanVaishnav, Mission Director – Atal Innovation Mission, and Mr Samuel Praveen Kumar – Joint Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. The chief guest of the event was PadmashreePramod Kale, Former Director, of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Indian Space and Research Organization.

First place was awarded to MSGS, a student startup from Swami Atmanand Government Multipurpose Higher Secondary Utkrishta Hindi Medium School, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, India. The team invented Foot Relaxo Shoes that work on the principle of acupuncture. The product leverages the spinal points on the base of the foot as it applies pressure to these points using

the design rendering on the 3D printed product and maintains blood flow using magnets. This innovation is very useful for patients diagnosed with neuro/spinal disorders as it can be used as a sole insert in their shoes or can be used as slippers.

Second place was awarded to AAYO-3D, a student start-up for innovating a quick-fix tool that can seamlessly combine two disconnected rubber water pipes. This product aims to make water accessible to all, especially in rural areas of Sikkim, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and parts of Nepal where people rely on traditional practices of obtaining and circulating water which has many drawbacks including wastage of the precious resource.

Third place was awarded to Indra, a startup dedicated to revolutionizing the drone accessory industry. The team invented MadhuMitra, their flagship groundbreaking solution that addresses the issue of unwanted honeybee hives in urban environments. It embodies the startup’s commitment to preserving the delicate harmony between humans and bees. MadhuMitra represents a bee-friendly approach to ensuring the safe removal of honeybee hives without harming bees. Through innovative technology and precision engineering, the product allows for the relocation of hives to more suitable locations, creating a harmonious coexistence between bees and humans.

The top three winning teams will showcase their dream products/innovations/ideas in front of global industry leaders, policymakers, mentors, investors, and entrepreneurs at the G20 Startup20 Summit. The summit offers first-of-its-kind global start-up ecosystem that brings together varied stakeholders on a common platform. The summit represents the global start-up ecosystem and raises the macroeconomic concerns and challenges faced by entrepreneurs with the G20 leaders.

One student representative from each of the three start-ups will be participating in a panel discussion at Shikhar, Startup 20 Conclave.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Creates ‘Wetland Ecosystem’ within its Plant Premises

Bangalore, 4th July 2023: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), in line with its commitment towards preserving and regenerating the environment, marked its Silver Jubilee “Environment Month” celebration with a remarkable initiative. Aimed at enhancing the native biodiversity, TKM successfully created a new “Wetland Ecosystem” through plantation drive and restoration of existing natural pond at the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) Pond, located within its manufacturing facility in Bidadi region (Karnataka State).

The occasion was graced by esteemed dignitaries –Mr. T. Mahesh, Chief Environment Officer, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board and Mr. Eshwar Prasad, Secretary of Parisara, The Environmental Protection Organization (NGO), in the presence of Toyota Executives – Mr. B. Padmanabha, Associate Executive Vice President of Manufacturing and Mr. Sudeep S. Dalvi, Senior Vice President, Director & Chief Communication Officer. Over 120 participants took part in this important event including school children, teachers, Toyota suppliers, dealers & logistic partners, and other representatives from TKM.

This eco-initiative not only commemorated Toyota’s 25th Environment Month celebration, but also provided an opportunity for diverse stakeholders to deepen their understanding about wetland ecosystems and their pivotal role in promoting environmental sustainability. Wetlands are among the most productive ecosystems. They play a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance by supporting diverse plant and animal species and helps in mitigating climate change through carbon sequestration. Wetlands store carbon within their plant communities and soil instead of releasing it to the atmosphere as carbon dioxide. Thus, wetlands help to moderate global climate conditions. Further, the unique valuable natural characteristics of wetlands helps to protect and improve water quality, providing fish and wildlife habitats, storing floodwaters, and maintaining surface water flow during dry periods. Under Toyota’s Global Environmental Challenge 2050’, one of the key focus elements is ‘Living in Harmony with Nature’ which largely constitutes afforestation. Towards this, over 2,550 saplings of varied species were planted.

TKM started its plantation journey way back in 2009 and has created a dense forest with more than 3,28,000 trees within its factory premises. The company has also adopted Miyawaki method of afforestation. and has successfully restored and reconstructed the forests based on the concept of “Potential Natural Vegetation”. This application has helped in creating a ‘Natural Forest’, within TKM’s manufacturing facility, by planting native species to create biodiversity and aid food chain and ecology. Thus far, TKM’s plantation drives have continued to evolve and expanded to 112 acres of green cover within the factory premises, out of which 32 acres of afforestation has been developed using the Miyawaki method. The resultant outcome has been truly remarkable. From a mere 181 plant species, the count has surged to an impressive 700, while the number of faunal species has risen from 76 to 264. The vibrant ecosystem now encompasses 88 bird varieties, 38 butterfly species, 107 insects, 17 reptiles, 8 mammals, and 6 amphibians, reflecting the successful development of a thriving native forest ecosystem.

Furthermore, TKM has created an experiential environmental learning centre ‘Ecozone’ (spread across 25 acres with 17 theme parks and home to 65,000 trees with 650 native species) for children, teachers, community members and other stakeholders, within its manufacturing facility aimed at creating the environment leaders and change champions for the future, to usher in desired behavioural change in the communities.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. T. Mahesh, Chief Environment Officer of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), said “KSPCB applauds Toyota Kirloskar Motor for their consistent commitment to environmental conservation. The creation of the ‘Wetland Ecosystem’ stands as a testament to their responsible corporate practices. We believe this initiative will inspire others to prioritize the conservation of natural resources and promote a greener and healthier environment. We at KSPCB also motivate industries to take up GreenCo certification as this would strengthen their processes to contribute towards environment conservation. Together, we can create a legacy of environmental stewardship, ensuring a harmonious coexistence between nature and human progress. Also, Dr. Shanth A. Thimmaiah, Chairman of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, conveyed his best wishes for Toyota’s future endeavours as well appreciated TKM’s green journey”.

Commenting on the celebration of Toyota’s 25th environment month, Mr. B. As a part of this momentous event, an eco-exhibition was set up namely ‘Hasiru Santhe’ where environment-friendly items were on display such as medicinal plants, homemade beauty products, utensils made up of clay, wooden toys, eco-friendly interior products, and alternatives to plastic, to create awareness and promote best eco practices.

TKM has implemented various distinctive eco-initiatives to sensitize all its stakeholders on the importance of environmental sustainability during its environment month celebration. In this regard, recently, the company conducted a reforestation drive under its iCARE (I, Community Action to Reach Everyone) – an employee volunteering program in Ramanagara district (Karnataka) by engaging its employees (about 325 plus volunteers participated) who planted 250 saplings to enhance the greenery in the region.

4th July 2023 Adhering to Education New Zealand’s commitment focus on the internationalization of education, Waipapa Taumata Rau University of Auckland and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University announced a collaboration to offer a Dual Degree Programme in Computer Science and Engineering. The program will empower students from both countries to earn two degrees- a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Computer Science and Engineering from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham followed by a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science or Master of Data Science (MDataSci) from the University of Auckland.

Designed to offer students a future-focused global learning experience, the program will provide students access to world-class mentorship from both institutions’ faculty members and cutting-edge research facilities. Students can commence their BTech studies at Amrita University and, after three years, transition to the University of Auckland for a two-year program to complete their Master’s degree. Upon completing the two degrees, students will also be eligible for a post-study work visa in New Zealand. To further deepen educational ties between New Zealand and India, high-achieving students opting for the double degree program will qualify for a scholarship of up to $20,000 towards tuition fees.

The dual-degree program will also offer industry-based internship opportunities allowing students to gain real-world experience and platforms to apply their theoretical knowledge in a professional setting.
