PKL Season 11 Hyderabad Leg Recap: Puneri Paltan Maintain Lead, Telugu Titans Shine at Home

Hyderabad, November 11, 2024: Defending champions Puneri Paltan continue to dominate the league standings at the end of the first leg of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 in Hyderabad, but it was a closely-contested three weeks with all teams fighting for the win till the last whistle of their matches.

Puneri have 30 points in eight matches, but close on their tails are the Telugu Titans, who have 26 points in eight games, having made the most of the home advantage. As season 11 moves out of Hyderabad, Pawan Sehrawat,
skipper of the home team, shared his thoughts on the crowd support.

“I’ve never seen such incredible support for any team. The fans here in Hyderabad support us whether we win or lose. This amazing crowd could rival any other stadium’s atmosphere. And speaking of performance, our defense has shown only 30-40% of its true potential so far — they’ve managed to stop top world-class raiders and we want to continue this form in the upcoming matches,” he said.

As the league moves to Noida, here is a look at the highlights from the Hyderabad Leg of the tournament:

TOP RAIDERS

Ashu Malik (Dabang Delhi K.C.)
With 97 raid points to his name, Ashu Malik was one of the top players for Dabang Delhi K.C., shouldering the responsibility of his team’s raiding department in the absence of skipper Naveen Kumar. A majority of his points came from 83 successful raids as well as 8 Super Raids, taking him to the top of the raiders list at the end of the Hyderabad leg.

Pawan Sehrawat (Telugu Titans)
The hi-flyer showed the home fans his true self in the Hyderabad leg with his exceptional performances for the Telugu Titans. In the eight matches that his team played, he scored 88 raid points, but needed just 66 successful raids to reach this tally. He also scored six Super 10s, with his performances ensuring four straight wins for the Telugu Titans in their last four matches.

Devank Dalal (Patna Pirates)
One of the more surprising names on this list, Devank Dalal has been the best raider for the Patna Pirates this season. Having scored a massive 25 points against the Tamil Thalaivas in one game, Devank was pushed into the limelight, and he has not looked back since. His five Super 10s in seven matches has taken his raid points tally to 87, just one behind Pawan Sehrawat, and he will hope to continue this form in the Noida leg.

TOP DEFENDERS

Gaurav Khatri (Puneri Paltan)
The Puneri Paltan side have been their usual best in season 11, and once again, all the plaudits will fall on their defending. Leading this department in season 11 is Gaurav Khatri, who has 33 tackle points in the eight matches that he has played this season. This includes four High 5s, the most in this season till the end of the Hyderabad leg.

Nitin Rawal (Bengaluru Bulls)
Nitin Rawal has been one of the top players for the Bengaluru Bulls at the end of a tough leg for the Pardeep Narwal-led team. He led the Bengaluru Bulls’ defence, scoring 26 tackle points in total, including two High 5s and four Super Tackles to his name.

Sumit Sangwan (UP Yoddhas)
Sumit Sangwan was the star defender for the UP Yoddhas in the Hyderabad leg, having scored 26 Tackles Points in his seven matches. He did so with 22 successful tackles, and will play a crucial role during his team’s home leg.

Preview for Matches on November 11:
All eyes will be on Devank Dalal and Ayan Lohchab as the Patna Pirates move to Noida for PKL 11. They will hope to create problems for the Neeraj Kumar-led Gujarat Giants, who are hoping to add to their one win in six matches.

In the second match of the day, U Mumba will hope to continue their winning form against the young guns of the Haryana Steelers. Ajit Chouhan has proven his worth, and will hope to give the likes of Jaideep Dahiya and Mohammedreza Shadloui a run for their money.

Please find below the schedule for PKL Season 11 match on Monday, November 11:
Match 1 – Gujarat Giants vs Patna Pirates – 8 pm

Vishva Karthikeya said, we are aware of cataract in adults, but kids too have the problem of cataract when eye develops between the ages of 6 to 8 years. Kids are the future of our country and it is our responsibility to ensure they are healthy, we need to identify cataract at the earliest and consult an ophthalmologist.

Several competitions and fun activities are being organized across the LVPEI network during November 7–14, 2024 – painting/fancy dress/elocution/clay modelling/ Braille reading/ pottery sessions. The activities are also open to children of employees.

Catch Early, Act Early to see Clearly. Childhood cataract can result in irreversible vision loss, if left untreated.’ said Dr Ramesh Kekunnaya, Head, Child Sight Institute, L V Prasad Eye Institute at the start of the walk. Cataract not only affects the vision but the overall development of the child. It is for us to ensure that none of the children miss on this opportunity and ensure a bright future for the child.

Dr Prashant Garg, Executive Chairman, LV Prasad Eye Institute; said, early detection ensures better outcome and this is particularly important for childhood cataracts. If the child doesn’t have clear vision, his brain development is affected. As healthcare warriors we have to ensure that our society is educated, once the society is educated, they have a better health. It is our responsibility to spread the message among public that how it is important for them to be conscious about some of the debilitating diseases and if they find anyone having that, they should act immediately.

Chennai Grand Masters 2024: Aronian Narrows Gap with Leader Arjun Erigaisi, Vaishali and Harika Draw

Chennai, November 11, 2024: Grandmaster Levon Aronian registered a resounding victory over GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave to close the gap on table-topper GM Arjun Erigaisi, who was held to a draw by GM Parham Maghsoodloo, after the fifth round of the Chennai Grand Masters 2024 here on Saturday.

In the Challengers category, meanwhile, the all-women clash between D Harika and Vaishali Rameshbabu–a first for Chess Grand Masters–ended in a stalemate, with the two players cancelling each other out tactically.

Organised by MGD1 and sponsored by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, the Chennai Grand Masters 2024 features two categories–Masters & Challengers. With a rating average of 2729, the Masters presents a more competitive field this time around. The debuting Challengers, meanwhile, is designed to provide emerging Indian talent the chance to compete in a top-class tournament.

Aronian, playing white, opted for the Kings Indian defence and his opponent responded with Alekhine Anti-Grunfeld variation. The game looked evenly poised during the initial exchanges but Aronian took control of the board by the 30th move and MVL’s error of pushing his e-file pawn a few moves later cost him dearly. Aronian is now in second place with 3.5 points while Arjun continues to lead the standings with four points.

All other matches in the Masters section ended in stalemate despite newly crowned world no 2 Arjun Erigaisi and the experienced Vidit Gujarathi pushing for a win. Gujarathi tried hard but had to settle for a draw after 57 moves against GM Amin Tabatabaei while GM Alexey Sarana and GM Aravindh Chithambaram signed the truce after 33 moves.

In the Challengers category, Pranav V’s run of four successive wins was halted by GM Raunak Sadhwani as the two Indians shared the point after 39 moves. Meanwhile, GM Murali Karthikeyan was the only player to claim a full point in Round 5 by beating compatriot GM Abhimanyu Puranik.

The Chennai Grand Masters 2024 is taking place at the Anna Centenary Library in Chennai from November 5 to 11, 2024, with tickets available for the general audience on BookMyShow for INR 100. Additionally, the tournament can be streamed online on ChessBase India’s YouTube channel.

VitrA’s Eco-Friendly, 100% Recycled Washbasins Steal the Spotlight at Design Mumbai 2024

VitrA India made an unforgettable impression at the recently conducted Design Mumbai exhibition 2024. This event mainly highlighted VitrA’s innovative Recycled Ceramic Washbasins. In addition to the recycled ceramic washbasin, the expressively minimalistic Liquid Series by VitrA in collaboration with Tom Dixon was showcased at Design Mumbai 2024. The Liquid collection’s smooth-edged aesthetic provides a vision for the bathroom of tomorrow – defining a new standard in bathroom products for home, hospitality and commercial spaces.

The Recycled Ceramic Washbasin is the world’s first and only recyclable ceramic washbasin. This concept represents eco-friendly manufacturing, as it is crafted entirely from waste materials that are typically produced during the ceramic sanitaryware production process. Rather than allowing this waste to contribute to the massively expanding environmental pollution, VitrA has found a way to repurpose it into a high-quality, functional product.

This washbasin is made from broken ceramic pieces and waste sludge which are left for disposal. These materials are constructed by grinding broken ceramics into milled scrap and combining it with pulp from wastewater treatment facilities to create fresh sludge. This mixture is then shaped into moulds, dried, fired and glazed to create the final product. This creation is available in matt taupe finish and five distinctive shapes: oval, TV, round, pebble and square. Each basin has a slightly textured surface that enhances both its visual appeal and tactile experience.

This washbasin is designed to withstand high absorption rates and is resistant to deformation, ensuring a long-lasting product. Crafted entirely from waste materials, it saves approximately 5kg of raw materials per product, offering a sustainable solution that reduces the need for raw resources. It’s packaging is also made in an eco-friendly manner which aligns with VitrA’s sustainability goal. This innovative design has accredited VitrA with the high standing “Green Good Design Award”, a result of their unique approach and their role in setting new industry standards.

Mr. Tirthankar Sarkar, Sr. Country Manager, VitrA India stated, “VitrA focuses on promoting products which are made from recycled and waste materials. Through Design Mumbai we have aimed to bring a product which not only has a modish appearance but is safer for the environment as it reduces carbon emissions. This product is suitable for both design aficionados and eco-conscious customers.”

The Recyclable Washbasin stood out at the Design Mumbai event as it not only enhances bathroom aesthetics but also reflects VitrA’s strong commitment to sustainability. This environmentally safe product aligns with modern environmental concerns, supporting a circular economy by reducing waste and minimizing resource consumption.

By reusing ceramic waste, VitrA contributes to conserving natural resources and lowering environmental impact. For those who missed the event, stay connected with VitrA through their website and social media channels for updates on its latest innovations and future exhibitions.
