Trident Protects Over 2000 Acres from Stubble Burning

New Delhi – November 28, 2024 – Each year, stubble burning releases high concentrations of particulate matter, pushing the Air Quality Index (AQI) in regions like Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi NCR to “severe” levels. These pollutants not only degrade air quality but also contribute to seasonal health crises.

As a transformative step, Trident Group has adopted the use of parali (paddy stubble) as a fuel source in its industrial boilers, preventing the burning of stubble from approximately 2000 acres of land. This practice, commonly used to clear fields post-harvest, is a primary contributor to the hazardous Air Quality Index (AQI) levels in Northern India, with cities like Delhi seeing AQI readings exceed 400 during peak season—levels deemed “severe” and dangerous for public health.

Traditional stubble burning releases high concentrations of particulate matter contributing to respiratory issues, smog, and a significant rise in pollution across Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi NCR. These emissions, often attributed to over 44% of Delhi’s seasonal pollution spike, have made stubble burning a critical environmental and public health issue.

NIIT Foundation and Mahindra Finance Launch Financial and Digital Literacy Program for Gig Workers

27th November 2024, National: NIIT Foundation, in partnership with Mahindra Finance, has announced the launch of a Financial and Digital Literacy Program aimed at empowering 30,000 underprivileged Gig workers across India. This initiative represents a significant step towards equipping the growing gig workforce with essential skills for the digital age.
In today’s rapidly evolving economic landscape, financial and digital literacy have become crucial for personal and professional success. Despite the prevalence of the digital landscape, only 38% of the households are digitally literate, while only 27% of the population can be deemed as financially literate.
This program addresses a critical need among gig workers, who often lack access to formal financial education and digital tools. By bridging this knowledge gap, the initiative aims to foster financial inclusion and enhance the economic resilience of this vital segment of the workforce.
The comprehensive program will cover a wide range of topics, including banking basics, savings strategies, e-wallet usage, investment fundamentals, insurance principles, and key government schemes. Through a combination of interactive workshops, online modules, and hands-on training, participants will gain practical skills to manage their finances effectively in the digital era.

WadzPay Secures SGD USD 50 Million Investment Commitment from GEM

Kenny Basumatary’s Debut Boro Film ‘Bibo Binanao’ Premieres at IFFI Goa

Guwahati/Kokrajhar; November 27, 2024: Filmmaker Kenny Basumatary’s first Boro film – ‘Bibo Binanao’ (My Three Sisters) – was showcased at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

Produced by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC),Bibo Binanao’ is a dramedy, a story of four sisters in rural Bodoland. Pansy Brahma plays the youngest sister Mizi, who stands by her sisters as they try to raise chickens, deal with deaths in the family, an abusive husband, life-threatening health scares and other hurdles that life throws at them. The other three sisters are played by Sangeena Brahma, Helina Daimary and Mithinga Narzary.

“It was an absolute pleasure to work with all these actresses. They were all always prepared with their dialog, so we could happily shoot long takes without having to frequently cut. And all of them have fabulous scenes that they’ve performed exactly as I envisioned,” Kenny said.

Rubul Boro, the Boro film industry’s most regular supervillain, who also played Dog Da in ‘Local Kung Fu 3’ recently, has his first gentlemanly role in ‘Bibo Binanao’.

At IFFIKenny walked the red carpet along with National Award-winning director Kulanandini Mahanta, who worked as production designer on ‘Bibo Binanao’, and Alex Leo Pou, executive producer from NFDC. In fact, Kenny walked the red carpet a second time as part of team ‘Swargarath’, which is in the Panorama section of the festival.

Speaking of the first show of ‘Bibo Binanao’, Kenny said: “We were actually apprehensive. Who on earth would come to watch a Boro film, and that too by me – I’m not exactly a festival famous director. But to our pleasant surprise, around 70 people turned up. While the film isn’t an out-and-out comedy, it was good to hear the audience laugh at the right places. Many of them came up to us after the end and said that they really liked it.”

People in Guwahati can watch ‘Bibo Binanao’ at the upcoming Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival (BVFF), where it will have its Assam premiere in the competition section. A theatrical release isn’t on the cards yet. “NFDC will hopefully send the film to more festivals,” said Kenny.

The event was graced with the auspicious presence of Dr. Mukesh Parashar, Registrar, Dr. T. A. Wani, Dean Research & Development, Dr. P. K. Tomar, OSD NIU, and Lt. Pratima Pandey, Dean Student Welfare & Director of Sports, NIU under the vision of Dr. Vikram Singh, Chancellor NIU and Prof. (Dr.) Uma Bhardwaj, Vice Chancellor of NIU with the event beginning with the Torch Ceremony.
