mjunction completes first Skill Development Program for LGBTQIA+ community

Kolkata, 3 June 2025: As part of its ongoing efforts to promote inclusion and improve employability, mjunction services limited has successfully completed its first skill development program for the LGBTQIA+ community in Mumbai .The program, run in collaboration with the George Telegraph Training Institute, was designed to provide participants with practical, industry-ready skills. A total of 120 individuals were trained for roles such as Front Office Executive and IT Help Desk Support. Out of these, 59 participants secured employment following the training. The comprehensive training programme included technical skills development, entrepreneurship training, and a structured mentorship component. LGBTQIA+ participants were paired with mentors from mjunction who provided ongoing guidance and support throughout the program.

Although certain sectors have taken steps toward inclusion, the overall employment rate for LGBTQIA+ individuals in India, particularly transgender persons remains significantly low. Persistent challenges such as workplace discrimination, absence of inclusive policies, and limited access to skill-building opportunities continue to impede progress. mjunction’s initiative is a noteworthy intervention, aimed at addressing these barriers by offering industry-relevant training and structured mentorship. Through this effort, participants are better equipped to pursue meaningful employment and integrate into the mainstream workforce.

This initiative was part of mjunction’s broader focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and aimed to offer equal access to opportunities for all, regardless of identity or background. The training helped participants gain confidence, relevant skills, and access to meaningful career pathways.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr Aninda Chatterjee, Vice President, Finance & Chief Financial Officer (CFO), mjunction services limited, commented, “We believe that real progress happens when everyone gets a fair chance to grow. This program was our small step toward ensuring that members of the LGBTQIA+ community are not just included but empowered. We are proud of what the participants have achieved and are committed to continuing our work towards a more inclusive and diverse workforce.”

Among those who are already employed are Shabo Sheikh and Gargi. Both expressed their immense satisfaction on the contents and mentoring of the programme. “Before this program, we had the skills but lacked direction and confidence. Being part of a structured training where we were seen, respected, and mentored has been life-changing. Today, we not only have jobs but also a sense of belonging and purpose. We are truly grateful to mjunction for this,” they said in unison.

World Environment Day: From Applause to Accountability—India Must Lead the Circular Shift

By Mr. Rajesh Gupta, Founder & Director of Recyclekaro
“On this World Environment Day, let’s remember that sustainability is no longer a choice—it’s a responsibility we owe to the planet, to future generations, and to ourselves. The era of unchecked consumption is behind us. Today, the question is not whether we need to change, but how urgently and how collectively we act.
The real shift begins when we stop viewing sustainability as a siloed domain of experts and policymakers, and start recognizing it as a shared commitment; embedded in every household, every industry, and every decision we make. It’s time to move from linear thinking, where we extract, use, and discard, to circular solutions that regenerate value and resources at every stage.
From how we manufacture products to how we recycle old devices, from minimizing waste to maximizing reuse each step we take contributes to a larger ripple effect. In the circular economy, waste isn’t the end ;it’s the beginning of something new.
India, with its scale, talent, and urgency, has the opportunity to lead this global transformation. But it starts with intention. It starts with awareness. And above all, it starts with action. The planet doesn’t just need applause for sustainability—it needs accountability. Let’s rise to that challenge.

HCG Curie City Cancer Centre, Vijayawada Organized ‘Zombie Walk’ on World No Tobacco Day, to create awareness on Devastating Outcomes of Tobacco Addiction

Vijayawada, 2 June 2025 — Marking “World No Tobacco Day”, HCG Curie City Cancer Centre, Vijayawada, in association with Government Dental Doctors and students, organized a unique public awareness campaign titled, “Zombie Walk: Tobacco turns You into the Walking Dead”, in the vicinity of the Government Dental College.

Participants dressed up as decaying “zombies”, to symbolize the slow, destructive effects of tobacco on the human body. The dramatization carried an effective message: that tobacco doesn’t kill instantly — it causes the body to decay from within, over time. Some participants bore painted messages across their attire and props, echoing lines, including “I died young. Thanks, tobacco,” and “Smoking didn’t kill me fast — it made me rot slowly.” Others embodied phrases such as “The real horror? Tobacco addiction” and “This is what 15 cigarettes a day looks like”; sending strong visual cues, that caught the attention of onlookers and passersby, making them stop in their tracks, to pause and imbibe the gravity of the messages.

Mr Yuva Kishore Terli, Chief Operating Officer, HCG Curie City Cancer Centre, Vijayawada, added: “This initiative reflects HCG’s continued focus on cancer prevention through public engagement. Using creative manifestations, such as the Zombie Walk, we’re able to connect with the community at a deeper level and enforce the imperative that quitting tobacco is not just necessary, but urgent. We at HCG remain committed to supporting people at every step of their tobacco-free journey.”

The walk concluded with a community interaction, where doctors urged the public to prioritize preventive care and voluntarily decline the first cigarette, or packet of chewing tobacco, altogether. With efforts like these, HCG Cancer Hospital continues to lead from the front in spreading awareness, offering early diagnosis, and empowering individuals to fight tobacco-related diseases with appropriate and effective, support and medical intervention.
