Vandalur, Mar 03: The inauguration of the Water Recycling System at the Langur Enclosure and the laying of the foundation for similar systems at the Otter and Chimpanzee enclosures at the Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Vandalur, Chennai mark a significant milestone for the Institute for Climate and Environment (ICE) in its capacity as Knowledge Partner.

Implemented by the Environmental Action Committee of the Rotary Club of Madras, the water recycling system has a treatment and recirculation capacity of 400,000 litres per day. The technology, provided by Circen Technologies, is designed to significantly reduce the enclosure’s dependence on fresh water while ensuring the highest standards of habitat care and animal welfare.

The system installed at the Nilgiri Langur wet moat enclosure is expected to reduce fresh water consumption by nearly 70% while maintaining optimal living conditions for the primate population. The initiative sets a benchmark for eco-friendly infrastructure and responsible water management practices within zoological parks. The project aims to promote efficient water usage while supporting the health and well-being of the animals, setting a benchmark for eco-friendly infrastructure in zoological parks.

In addition to the Langur enclosure system, the foundation stone was laid for a new water treatment plant at the Otter Pond, sponsored by Aspire Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd. Plans are also underway for a water recycling system for the Chimpanzee Enclosure, supported by DRA Homes. What began with the Langur enclosure is now expanding across the zoo, building momentum toward improved water efficiency and environmentally conscious operations.

Global TV shipments remained flat year-on-year at 61.5 million units in 4Q25, despite a sharp decline in China, according to data from Omdia’s latest TV Sets (Emerging Technologies) Market Tracker: History – 4Q25. Shipments in China fell by 25.3% year-on-year, as government subsidies ended and many consumers brought forward upgrades over the past year. However, strong demand in other regions helped offset the decline, keeping the global market broadly stable for the quarter.

China recorded the steepest regional contraction in shipments, while mature markets such as North America and Western Europe continued to expand, up 4.7% and 3.2%, respectively. Developing regions delivered the strongest growth, led by Latin America & the Caribbean (up 12.5%) and the Middle East & Africa (up 9.4%). This outperformance reflects a shift in brand focus toward international market, as several Chinese brands increased shipments into these markets to compensate for weaker domestic consumption.

 

Western Europe was the second largest regional market in 4Q25, with Asia & Oceania in third place, after both regions overtook China during the quarter. In North America, while shipments increased, sell through during the holiday period was softer than expected, resulting in higher inventory levels.

 

 

Despite the sharp decline in their home market, TCL and Hisense increased their combined shipments by 2.2% year-on-year, supported by stronger momentum outside China. Their combined share of shipments into North America increased year-on-year from 28.6% to 30.7%, even as compliance requirements in the US have tightened. With China demand falling quickly, brands have redirected shipments toward the US and other overseas markets, betting that demand for XXL size TVs will remain resilient through the year.

 

 

“Chinese brands have shown strong agility in their growth strategies over the past year,” said Matthew Rubin, Principal Analyst, TV Set Research, Omdia. “Accessing the US market is more challenging now, but both TCL and Hisense have adjusted supply chains to meet new requirements. That flexibility comes with added cost, and profitability is becoming a bigger priority, particularly as component costs such as memory rise.”

 

 

Premium models remain the principal driver of profitability across the TV market. Looking ahead, both major Chinese TV brands are positioning Mini LED technology as a core premium offering over the next few years. However, OLED shipments grew 8.6% year-on-year in 4Q25, with Western Europe, the largest OLED TV market, up 11.5%. OLEDs ability to capture high-spending consumers will be tested as more RGB Mini LED TVs enter the market. CES 2026 highlighted that competition at the premium end remains intense, with TCL showcasing Mini LED paired with enhanced Quantum Dot technology as the flagship of its 2026 lineup.

During the event, the NOC team streamed AppLogic Networks data into Grafana and quickly built dashboards with a one-minute interval refresh rate they could use live.

 

A standout capability was AI-driven App QoE scoring, a sentiment-style scoring system derived from AppLogic Networks’ B.E.S.T. insights that enabled the NOC to view Quality of Experience by access point, room, and floor location.

Real-world operational wins during the event

 

The trial supported practical NOC workflows under live conditions, including:

 

  • Faster DNS troubleshooting: When one DNS server stopped responding, the NOC could see inbound queries without outbound responses in live views, helping confirm the issue quickly.
  • IPv4 and IPv6 clarity: With IPv4 assigned by DHCP and IPv6 assigned by RA, the NOC monitored v4 and v6 traffic volume separately to understand differences in behavior and experience.
  • IPv6 load-balance validation: The team compared router traffic volumes to verify whether router to router IPv6 traffic distribution was working as intended.
  • Security and policy-driven insight: The team monitored network activity for anomalous behavior potentially associated with malware and confirmed that no such malicious activity was observed during the event.
  • Easy to integrate into existing tools: The team streamed AppLogic Networks data into Grafana and used it alongside existing Wi-Fi and operational tools, without requiring any system replacement. By integrating client-to-AP association data obtained via the Juniper Mist API, the team was able to analyze App QoE on a per-access-point basis with greater contextual accuracy.

For the NOC team, it is about creating a stable and seamless connectivity experience that allows all participants to engage comfortably without being conscious of the underlying network. When QoE can be measured and visualized by location, the NOC team can better understand how participants are experiencing the network in real time.
