National : Lovely Professional University (LPU) reaffirmed its commitment to revolutionizing education as it hosted the Annual International Conference & Global Summit (AICGS) 2024. KLK Ventures Powers Sustainable Farming in J&K with Solar Water Pumps Under PM Kusum Yojana

Delhi, October 2024 – KLK Ventures is excited to announce the launch of its new platform aimed at transforming farming in Jammu and Kashmir with sustainable solar water pumps under the PM Kusum Yojana. The scheme supports farmers in areas where electricity is not easily available. Farmers can install solar-powered pumps of up to 7.5 HP, and in special regions like Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and other hilly areas, the subsidy is available for pumps of up to 10 HP. This helps farmers irrigate their fields without relying on expensive diesel pumps.

Adani acquires Orient Cement at INR 8,100 crore equity value

Ahmedabad, 22 October 2024: Ambuja Cements, the cement and building material company of Adani Cement and part of the diversified Adani Group, today announced the signing of a binding agreement for the acquisition of Orient Cement Ltd (OCL) at an equity value . Ambuja will acquire 46.8% shares of OCL from its current promoters and certain public shareholders. The acquisition will be fully funded through internal accruals.

“This timed acquisition marks another significant step forward in Ambuja Cements’ accelerated growth journey, increasing cement capacity by ~30 MTPA within two years of Ambuja’s acquisition,” said Mr Karan Adani, Director of Ambuja Cements. “By acquiring OCL, Ambuja is poised to reach 100 MTPA cement capacity in FY 25. The acquisition will help to expand Adani Cement’s presence in core markets and improve its pan-India market share by 2%. OCL’s assets are highly efficient, equipped with railway sidings and well supported by captive power plants, renewable energy, WHRS and AFR facilities. OCL’s strategic locations, high-quality limestone reserves and requisite statutory approvals present an opportunity to increase cement capacity in the near term to 16.6 MTPA.”

OCL has 5.6 MTPA clinker capacity and 8.5 MTPA cement capacity along with statutory clearance to increase the clinker capacity by another 6.0 MTPA and cement capacity by another 8.1 MTPA. In addition, OCL also has a limestone mining lease in Chittorgarh for setting up an Integrated Unit (IU) with clinker of 4 MTPA and a split Grinding Unit (GU) of 6 MTPA in North India. OCL has also secured a concession from MPPGCL, Madhya Pradesh for setting up a Grinding Unit within the premises of Satpura Thermal Power Plant. Both these complement the Adani Group’s existing cement footprint. (Refer Annexure – 1 for OCL’s location wise cement capacity and other assets and Annexure – 2 for Adani Cement’s footprint post-acquisition of OCL.)

OCL has recently commissioned a WHRS in Chittapur IU and is in the final stage of commissioning 16 MW solar in Chittapur and 3.7 MW solar in Jalgaon. OCL’s efficient plants, highly motivated teams, strong balance sheet and well-distributed dealer network will be excellent additions to the Adani Group’s existing cement business. OCL’s existing dealers will move to Adani Cement’s market network, creating formidable synergies.

Ambuja plans to optimize OCL’s overall capacity utilization to enhance its cost and competitiveness and improve its operating performance while leveraging the synergies inherent in the existing cement business.

Tata Motors wins order to supply 1000 bus chassis to Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation

Bengaluru, 22 October, 2024: Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, announced that it has received a prestigious order from the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) to supply 1,000 units of the Tata LPO 1618 diesel bus chassis. The order was won by Tata Motors following a competitive e-bidding process conducted via the Government tendering process, and the bus chassis will be supplied in a phased manner as per mutually agreed terms.

This latest order follows the successful fulfilment of a similar, larger order of 1,350 bus chassis received last year, and which are currently running efficiently by the UPSRTC. Designed for safe intercity and long-distance travel, Tata LPO 1618 diesel bus chassis deliver superior performance and excellent passenger comfort with low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

On receiving the order, Mr. Anand S, Vice President and Head – Commercial Passenger Vehicle Business, Tata Motors, said, “We are delighted to continue to partner UPSRTC in their efforts towards expanding and improving public transport. Celebrating Scientific Prowess: Dr. Krishnaswamy Vijay Raghavan Receives Vigyan Maharshi Samman

MUMBAI/PUNE: In a celebration of scientific excellence and educational achievement, MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU) honoured distinguished scientist Padma Shri Dr. Krishnaswamy Vijay Raghavan with the prestigious MIT-WPU Vigyan Maharshi Samman during its 6th convocation ceremony. The award was presented by the Chief Guest, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, in recognition of Raghavan’s outstanding contributions to the field of science. The accolade included a certificate, an idol of Saraswati, and a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakhs.

Dr. Krishnaswamy Vijay Raghavan, a recipient of the Padma Shri, serves as a DAE Homi Bhabha Chair and Emeritus Professor at the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS). He is also a former Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India and chairs the Prime Minister’s Science Technology and Innovation Council. His extensive career includes serving as Secretary to the Department of Biotechnology and Director of NCBS at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR).

In his address at the convocation, Dr. Krishnaswamy Vijay Raghavan expressed his gratitude upon receiving the prestigious MIT-WPU Vigyan Maharshi Samman, stating, “I am very proud to receive this honor. A university education is not solely about your time in classrooms. In fact, I would go as far as to say that the classroom is relatively incidental. We must foster a value-based universal education system connecting spirituality with science, through discipline and character building,”

Shri Rahul V. Karad, MIT-WPU’s Executive President, emphasized India’s potential to become a global leader in spirituality and science. He discussed the university’s vision for a Global Education Managing Council to integrate spiritual components into technical education and encouraged students to innovate, rather than merely replicate Western models, fostering original thinking in engineering and technology.

During the ceremony, MIT-WPU also honoured other outstanding achievers. Abhijit Pawar received the ‘Founder President Medal,’ while Anushree Kulkarni was awarded the ‘Executive President Medal.’

The convocation saw over 5,000 students receive degrees across multiple disciplines, including Engineering and Technology, Computer Science and Engineering, Business, Economics and Commerce, Health Science and Technology, Science and Environmental Studies, Law, and Consciousness Studies.
