New Delhi, Aug 24: Gold prices moved higher in the Indian market on Monday, while silver prices witnessed a marginal decline as investors remained cautious amid geopolitical tensions and uncertainty over the global economic outlook.
The price of 24-carat gold stood at around ₹1,63,385 per 10 grams, registering a rise of ₹1,096. Silver was quoted at approximately ₹2,46,207 per kg, down ₹392 from the previous level.
Internationally, spot gold gained 0.5% to around $4,627 per ounce, touching its highest level since May 15. The precious metal has remained firm in recent sessions, supported by a weaker US dollar and continued demand for safe-haven assets.
In Kolkata, 24-carat gold was priced at ₹1,63,130 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold stood at ₹1,49,536 per 10 grams. Silver was priced at around ₹2,46,390 per kg.
Gold prices in other major cities also remained firm. In New Delhi, 24-carat gold was quoted at ₹1,63,300 per 10 grams, while Mumbai recorded a rate of ₹1,63,580 per 10 grams.
Global market sentiment continues to be influenced by geopolitical developments, movements in the US dollar and expectations surrounding US monetary policy. Investors are also closely watching upcoming inflation data and comments from Federal Reserve officials for clues about the future direction of interest rates.
With uncertainty continuing across global markets, gold remains in focus as a safe-haven investment. Silver prices, meanwhile, could remain volatile as investors assess both global economic conditions and industrial demand.
