Motorica launches local production of its own bionic prostheses in India

New Delhi, 21st October 2026. Motorica Group, a leading Russian MedTech company focused on assistive technologies and medical cybernetics, has launched local production of its proprietary bionic hand prostheses in India. The company’s manufacturing unit has been established at the facility of Motorica’s Indian partner, a prosthetics developer and manufacturer, in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

This development involves transferring Motorica’s manufacturing technologies to its Indian partner and initiating localized production of Indy Hand, the company’s single-grip myoelectric hand prosthesis. Motorica specialists have trained local personnel, implemented manufacturing processes, and introduced quality control standards. To date, several dozen prostheses have been manufactured at the facility, with some already fitted to users. Motorica plans to expand localized production and introduce additional products from its portfolio at the Indian facility.

Indy Hand is Motorica’s myoelectric forearm prosthesis designed for people with upper-limb amputations and congenital limb differences. The prosthesis uses a myoelectric control system, supports multiple grip patterns, enables users to lift loads of up to 10 kg and has an IP54 ingress protection rating. Weighing 520 g, the hand combines a compact design with functionality. An optional rotator allows the hand to be quickly detached and rotate360 degrees. The model is actively sold in Russia and international markets. Localizing its production in India will enable Motorica to adapt proven engineering solutions to the needs of local users.

Local production enables Motorica to retain the product’s core technologies and design solutions while reducing manufacturing costs. Savings are achieved by sourcing components from local suppliers and reducing logistics expenses. Manufacturing in India also enables more responsive prosthesis servicing. As a result, advanced bionic prostheses will become more accessible to patients without compromising quality standards.

Adding to the company’s milestone, CEO of Motorica India, Mr. Ruslan Babintsev said, “Launching localized manufacturing is a natural next step in Motorica’s development in India. Over the past several years, we have built strong partnerships with the clinical community, established a local team, and laid the foundation for long-term growth. Manufacturing in India allows us to respond more quickly to the needs of clinicians and patients while making our prosthetic solutions more accessible across the country. As production grows, we plan to expand the range of products manufactured locally and continue strengthening our rehabilitation network in India and across Southeast Asia.”

Motorica has been operating in the Indian market since 2021. Since then, the company has established a network of more than 60 partner clinics, developed collaborations with Indian universities to train prosthetics professionals, and opened its own office in New Delhi in early 2025. Today, the office serves as Motorica’s regional hub, supporting business development in India and the company’s expansion into Southeast Asian markets.

The Indian prosthetics market has significant growth potential. According to a study published in Frontiers, the number of people living with amputations in the region is estimated at approximately one million. Meanwhile, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), only 10% of the population has access to the assistive products they need.
