Shirpur, 30 2026: On the occasion of World Pharmacists Day and NSS Day, SVKM’s NMIMS, Shirpur Campus, organised a Tree Plantation Drive to promote environmental awareness, conservation of medicinal plant resources and sustainable practices among students.
The drive witnessed active participation from students of B. Pharm and other programmes at NMIMS Shirpur, along with faculty members. Students actively participated in the plantation activity and contributed to the campus’s efforts towards environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.
As part of the drive, more than 50 saplings were planted at suitable locations across the campus, including shaded areas and open spaces. The plantation included medicinal plants as well as selected endangered and conservation-important plant species, including Dinka species, Tulsi, Turmeric and Shatavari, among others.
“The Tree Plantation Drive is a meaningful step towards creating awareness about environmental conservation and the importance of medicinal plants. Through such initiatives, we aim to encourage our students to contribute towards a greener and more sustainable environment,” said Dr. Sunita Patil, Director, NMIMS Shirpur Campus.
The activity also highlighted the importance of medicinal plants, conservation of endangered plant species and preservation of biodiversity, while creating awareness about environmental sustainability and natural healthcare resources.
The plantation drive was conducted in the presence and support of Dr. Sunita Patil, Director, NMIMS Shirpur Campus, and Dr. S. S. Pancholi, Associate Dean, NMIMS, School of Pharmacy and Technology Management, Shirpur Campus. Their presence and encouragement supported the successful execution of the initiative.
The efforts were led by Dr. Aniket Karmase and Dr. Vishal Beldar, with valuable support from the dedicated staff members, including the campus gardening team.
The initiative reflected the spirit of World Pharmacists Day and NSS Day, encouraging students to contribute towards a healthier society and a greener environment, while strengthening the green cover and medicinal plant resources of the SVKM’s NMIMS Shirpur Campus.
