Transformers & Rectifiers Gains on MEIL Order, Strengthening Growth Prospects

Mumbai, Aug 31: Shares of Transformers & Rectifiers (India) Ltd. gained sharply on Monday after the company secured a major project order from Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd. (MEIL), strengthening its order pipeline and improving visibility for future business.

Transformers & Rectifiers Gains on MEIL Order, Strengthening Growth Prospects

The order, valued between Rs 100 crore and Rs 500 crore, excluding GST, involves the manufacturing of transformers and related work and is scheduled to be executed over 35 months. The company has classified it as a large order under its internal policy.

The fresh contract has attracted investor attention as it adds to the company’s revenue pipeline at a time when demand for power transmission and electrical equipment remains supported by infrastructure development.

For Transformers & Rectifiers, the order provides an opportunity to strengthen capacity utilisation, improve revenue visibility and expand its presence in large-scale power and infrastructure projects. The company’s shares rose nearly 8% during Monday’s trading session, reflecting the positive market response to the order win.

The development also highlights the broader momentum in India’s power-infrastructure ecosystem. Rising investments in electricity transmission, distribution, industrial projects and grid expansion are creating demand for transformers and other specialised electrical equipment.

While the order is expected to support the company’s medium-term growth, its impact on the wider Indian economy is likely to be indirect. A sustained increase in such infrastructure orders can support manufacturing activity, supply chains, logistics and employment while contributing to higher capital investment.

The latest order therefore strengthens the company’s business outlook while also reflecting continued investment in India’s critical power infrastructure.
