Bengaluru,27th May 2024 – RV University’s School of Computer Science and Engineering (SoCSE) inaugurated the Center for Quantum Sciences and Technologies (CQST) on Thursday, May 23, 2024. The Center was inaugurated by Prof. Tarun Souradeep, Director of the Raman Research Institute, Bengaluru. The Center for Quantum Sciences and Technologies (CQST) aims to lead research and development in various aspects of quantum sciences, including quantum physics, materials, devices, computing, biology, pharmacology, sensing, imaging, metrology, and machine learning (quantum AI).

Along with the inauguration, RV University (RVU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with industry partner QpiAI, marking a significant step towards industry-academia collaboration in quantum technologies.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries including Sri D. P. Nagaraj, Pro-Chancellor of RV University, Dr. Y.S.R. Murthy, Vice Chancellor, Assistant Secretary of RSST, Mr. Nikhil Murthy and Dr. G. Shobha, Dean of School of Computer Science and Engineering (SoCSE) along with Dr. K.N. Subramanya, Principal, RV College Of Engineering. The event was conducted by RV Chair Professor Dr. P. C. Deshmukh, who will lead CQST. At the event, professors C.V.S.N. Reddy and S. Vaidyanathan outlined the center’s future activities.

Murthy, Vice Chancellor of RV University, emphasised the significance of the Center for Quantum Sciences and Technologies (CQST) in fostering innovative research and education in quantum sciences and said “The inauguration of Quantum Science and Technology (CQST) marks a milestone in RV University’s commitment to advancing scientific research and education. CQST will lead RVU projects in diverse fields of quantum sciences and technologies, encompassing all aspects of quantum physics, quantum materials, quantum devices, quantum computing, quantum biology, quantum pharmacology, quantum sensing, quantum imaging, quantum metrology, quantum machine learning (quantum AI) etc. The CQST at SoCSE, RVU will provide an umbrella opportunity for students and faculty across the RV Institutions to undertake research and development work in interdisciplinary quantum sciences.”

These will include majors and minors in B.Tech. and M.Tech. in Quantum Engineering and Engineering Physics, along with M.Sc. programs at the upcoming Mysuru campus of RVU. These courses are designed to prepare students for the burgeoning field of quantum sciences, equipping them with the knowledge and skills required for future innovations.

Billabong High Malad & Juhu Achieve 100% Success in 2024 IGCSE Exams

Mumbai: Billabong High International School in Malad and Juhu has achieved a 100% success rate in the 2024 Cambridge IGCSE exams. The result was declared on 23rd May by the board.

At Billabong Malad, Tanishka Desai emerged as the Grade 10 topper with the highest 94.83% marks followed by Deanna Misquith with 90.83% and Riya Bhojwani with 90.17%, securing the second and third positions respectively. In Grade 12 results, Jiya Gupta topped with 87.25%, while Siddharth Kukreja scored 85.25% and stood 2nd.

Whereas, students of Billabong High International School, Juhu have also excelled in this year’s IGCSE exams with Diva Gupta securing the first rank scoring 88.30% marks, followed by Palaash Munot with 87.33% and Durga Adesara with 85.83% marks.

The Global Futures Scholarship is available to students worldwide, including those from India. This scholarship reflects Manchester’s commitment to global engagement and innovation. It is available for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.

• Undergraduate: The University of Manchester offers international students 100 merit-based scholarships of £21,000.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must be applying for direct first-year entry in 2024 and have, or be working towards one of the following qualifications: A Levels, IB Diploma, Indian Standard XII (CBSE, ISC, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Gujarat boards only), Advanced Placement (AP).

Timeline: Applicants must apply for the scholarship online by 14 April 2024. All successful applicants will be notified by 30 April 2024.

• Postgraduate: The University of Manchester offers international students 100 merit-based scholarships of £8,000.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants will be considered for the award based on academic merit and the quality of their scholarship application.

Timeline: Applicants must apply for the scholarship online by 26 April 2024. The link to the application form will be emailed to all offer holders. The successful applications will be notified by 31 May 2024.

2. Humanities Bicentenary Scholarships

The Faculty of Humanities is excited to provide a variety of commemorative Bicentenary scholarships and financial aid options for qualified candidates beginning in September 2024. These awards are limited in quantity and are distributed based on student’s academic performance and the excellence of their program application. No additional application is required; the applications will be automatically reviewed and the selected will be informed.

  • • Undergraduate: The University is offering £2,000 per year of study to undergraduate students.

    Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must have completed or waiting for their results for a maximum of 3 years of study. The Scholarships are available to the School of Arts Languages and Culture and the School of Environment, Education, and Development.

  • Undergraduate: The University is offering £2,000 for the first year of study to undergraduate students.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must be domiciled in India. The Scholarships are available to the Alliance Manchester Business School and the School of Social Sciences.

• Postgraduate: The University is offering £10,000 for one year of study to postgraduate students.

LEAD sees 80 Percent growth in students scoring above 90 Percent in CBSE Class 10 board exam

Samsung Conducts First Design Thinking Workshop for School Students
