April 18 2023  Climate change has become a collective global issue in the last 20 years, and the concerns are only increasing. While many sectors contribute to the ongoing climate emergency, the one that stands out the most is carbon emissions due to the transport sector. Over the last couple of years, the Indian government has drafted policies and plans like FAME with the aim to achieve 30% EV sales penetration for cars, 70% for commercial vehicles, 40% for buses, and 80% for two- and three-wheelers by 2030. To achieve this advanced level of EV adoption, it needs to be supported by competitive technological infrastructure. To take a further deep dive, KPMG in India, jointly with CII, has published a report titled ‘Technology at the forefront of Electric Vehicles’.

Commenting on the report, Jeffry Jacob, Partner, Partner, and Lead, Automotive, KPMG in India said “Technology is playing a key role in driving the EV landscape in India. While many of the current innovations are going to become standard offerings in the future, the addition of newer features/ development of new technology is going to be a continuous process. And with India becoming a tech hub for the world, we are at a significant advantage”.

With the advent of EVs, a lot of technological transformation has also come into play. For instance, the engine from traditional ICEs is replaced by a battery, accompanying a Battery Management System (BMS), while transmission has been replaced by a motor and a controller. The shift to EVs is no longer an uncertainty but only a question of when. Adoption levels are expected to see exponential growth in the future with developing infrastructure, government incentives, and the launch of new EV models. The shift from ICE to EV has increased the electronics content from 16 percent to 55 percent in a vehicle with the addition of new features and controls.  Bengaluru, March 30, 2023, Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) under the Department of Information and Communication Technology (I and CT) inaugurated Ping 2.0.2.3 The theme of the Ping 2.0.2.3 workshop “IEEE Sustainable Development Platform – Next-gen tech. powered by AI.” highlights the importance of sustainable development in the current technological landscape.

The guest of honour of the event was Mr. Sudhir Mahale, Vice President of Cloud & AI Architecture at Deutsche Bank who was cordially introduced by Dr. Manjula Shenoy, Professor, Dept. of I and CT, MIT Manipal. Mr. Sudhir Mahale addressed the need for sustainability and described Artificial Intelligence to be: “A driving force with the ability to combat the most pressing environmental and social challenges facing the world today, including climate change, biodiversity loss, and food security”.

Kolkata, 20 March 2023: The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in association with Guru Nanak Institute of Technology under the JIS Group, successfully organized the 12th edition of The Bengal Chamber’s Technology Quiz-Inter College Quiz Fest on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the GNIT Campus. The event was hosted by two Quiz Masters, Mr. Auritro Chowdhury and Mr. Kinshuk Biswas, who are well-known names in the quizzing circuit.

A few Eastern India Colleges like Assam University, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, National Institute of Technology, Durgapur, KiiT University, Bhubaneswar, IIT Kharagpur have participated in this quiz competition for the very first time. After a tough competition, Subhayan Chakraborty and Mihir Srivastava from IIT Kharagpur emerged as the winner of the quiz fest. Animesh Jha and Ayush Sharma from IIT Kharagpur secured the position of first runner-up, and Tarun Anand and Diyanshu Kumar from NIT Jamshedpur were announced as the second runner-up. The Quiz Fest witnessed the participation of 100 teams, which is approximately 200 students from various colleges in Bengal and Eastern India. The participants competed against each other in an intellectually stimulating and exciting contest. The primary objective of the event was to encourage and reinvigorate the youth’s passion for quizzing, who are the future of business, the economy, and society in India. Hyderabad, March 06, 2023…..CIE (Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship) IIIT (International Institute of Information Technology) Hyderabad hosted The 42 SUMMIT, an AI(Artificial Intelligence) summit bringing on Friday at its premises in Gachibowli. 150 plus startups, corporates and incubators came together and participated.

The summit had sessions addressing a few different domain centered themes such as AI in MedTech, Reinventing Retail and Enterprise SaaS and AI, Sustainability / Mobility AI tech and FinTech AI. Each session had four panelists sharing their insights. Eight curated startups pitch on the stage, followed by a dialog between the startups and the investors/enablers.

Three panel discussions were held. One discussion was on AI in Fintech, second one was on AI in Medtech and third one was on AI in Mobility/Sustainability. Some of the panelists included Panellists included the likes of Corporate VCs represented by Mr. Hussaini SF(JPMC); Mr. Anuj Jain(Accenture); Mr. Gautham Sivaramakrishnan(Blume VC) and Mr. Siddharth Kochar(Wells Fargo) who deliberated on the possibilities and potential of AI in the booming space of Fintech. A medtech segment led by Mr. Manoj Kapoor(Providence India), Dr. Mahesh Iyer(Parexel) and other corporate leaders. Followed by an engrossing session on AI in Mobility, by Mr. Ravinder Singh (Kalaari Capital), Ms. Megha Y(Uber), Mr. Venu Gopal J(ZF) and Mr. Sridhar C(TCS). Final session was on enterprise SAAS, anchored by Mr. Sreedhar Peddineni (GTM Buddy), the industry and corporate foresight being provided by Mr. Priyaranjan Jha ( PepsiCo.), and Mr. Suhrid Palsule (Microsoft).

The panelists cut across multiple sectors of modern day AI implementations with conglomerates, MNCs and successful startups in equal proportions, such as JPMC, Blume VC, PepsiCo. and Microsoft, amongst others. Multiple thesis, curated market understandings, platformed justification of trends was represented by the startups who gave lightning pitches.
