Kolkata, March 14, 2024: Greater Kolkata College of Engineering & Management, a JIS Group Educational Initiative organized a Youth to Youth Connect Programme on March 12th, 2024 in commemoration of World Consumer Rights Day, celebrated annually on March 15th. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organized a youth to youth connect programme at Greater Kolkata College of Engineering & Management, under the esteemed JIS Group. Esteemed dignitaries including Anindya Chakrabarti Scientist -F & Sr. Director Head (Kolkata Branch Office-II), Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS); Najruna Sultana, Standard Promotion Officer, Kolkata Branch Office-II, Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS); Sourav Das, Graduate Engineer, Kolkata Branch Office-II, Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) along with Prof (Dr.) Mahuya Das, Principal GKCEM were present on the occasion.

The event aimed to propagate the significance of Quality & Standardization down to the grassroots level, empowering the youth with knowledge and awareness regarding consumer rights and the importance of adhering to quality standards in products and services. Highlighting the collaborative efforts, the Department of Civil Engineering & Department of Electrical Engineering of Greater Kolkata College of Engineering & Management recently formalized their partnership with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership propagates the commitment of both organizations to promote quality and standardization in engineering practices and education. During the program, students engaged in interactive sessions, workshops, and presentations conducted by experts from BIS, focusing on various aspects of quality standards, consumer rights, and the role of engineers in upholding these standards. The event brought forward a platform for knowledge exchange and dialogue, empowering the future leaders of the engineering community with essential insights and skills.
