New Delhi, August 3: The Government has announced significant progress under the Adarsh Gram component of the Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM-AJAY), with 47,328 villages selected for targeted development and 46,642 development works completed so far.
The initiative aims to transform Scheduled Caste-majority villages by improving basic infrastructure, strengthening essential services, and promoting inclusive socio-economic growth at the grassroots level.
Under the programme, development activities are being undertaken to address critical gaps in rural areas, including access to essential amenities, community facilities, and infrastructure support. The objective is to create better living conditions and ensure that development benefits reach communities through focused and planned interventions.
The progress achieved under PM-AJAY’s Adarsh Gram component highlights the government’s continued efforts towards reducing rural disparities and empowering communities through improved facilities and opportunities.
The initiative holds significant importance as village-level development directly impacts the everyday lives of residents. Improved infrastructure and public services can enhance access to education, healthcare, sanitation, livelihood opportunities, and social welfare programmes, helping communities achieve greater economic and social empowerment.

The completion of more than 46,600 development works marks a major milestone in strengthening rural infrastructure and advancing the vision of inclusive growth, where every community has access to basic facilities and opportunities for progress.
