Pune, Sep 07: For most founders, a birthday is a day to step away from work
For Shreya Sharma, Founder of Rest The Case, it became a day to do something outside of it.
This year, instead of a traditional birthday celebration, Shreya chose to spend the day with her team on a donation drive with Sevadeep, an organisation that supports NGOs across Pune.
The team spent the day collecting, sorting and packing donations before they were put to use by organisations working across the region.
For Shreya, the decision was a simple one.
“A birthday marks what you’ve received from life. I wanted to mark mine by giving something back.”
From one idea to a growing legal-tech company
The birthday comes at an important point in Shreya’s own journey.
Six years ago, she started Rest The Case with a simple observation: getting legal help could be far easier for businesses.
Business owners often know they need legal support. But finding the right lawyer, understanding what documents they need, getting contracts drafted, reviewing agreements and keeping up with ongoing legal requirements can quickly become another job for a founder.
Rest The Case set out to change that.
Over the last six years, the company has grown into a legal-tech platform helping businesses access legal support more easily. Through its Virtual Chief Legal Officer (VCLO) offering, businesses can work with an online legal partner for their ongoing legal needs.
Today, Rest The Case has helped 215+ businesses with their legal requirements.
The larger ambition remains the same as the one Shreya started with six years ago:
Make legal support easier to access, easier to understand and easier to manage for businesses.
A founder’s birthday, spent differently
The donation drive with sevadeep was a small departure from the day-to-day work of building a legal-tech company, but it reflected another part of the culture Shreya wants to build at Rest The Case.
The focus was not on making the birthday bigger.
It was to make the day useful.
For the Rest The Case team, it meant stepping away from screens and spending the day working together on something outside their usual roles.
For Shreya, it was another way of celebrating the people, opportunities and journey that brought Rest The Case to where it is today.
Six years into the journey, the company continues to work towards its vision of reimagining how businesses access legal support in India.
And this year, the founder behind that journey chose to mark another year not with more for herself, but by giving something back.
