Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines Propose Joint Venture Agreement to Deepen Commercial Partnership

New Delhi,30th May 2023Garuda Indonesia (GA) and Singapore Airlines (SIA) today announced plans to enter into a joint venture arrangement that would deepen the cooperation between the two carriers, increase passenger capacity between Singapore and Indonesia, and offer customers more travel options between the two countries.

Subject to regulatory approvals, the proposed joint venture will cover routes between Singapore and Denpasar, Jakarta, and Surabaya. This will expand on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that the two airlines signed in November 2021.

It would allow Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines to potentially coordinate schedules between Singapore and Indonesia, offering customers more seamless flight connectivity between the two countries and beyond. The carriers will also explore the implementation of new initiatives, including joint fare products and an alignment of corporate programmes to enhance the value proposition to customers.

To understand the need for focused attention, a dedicated team of 140 students and faculty members visited 3 villages of Hyderabad, Telangana to address crucial needs. A small quick survey was also conducted by the Department of Students Activity Center who visited three villages in Telangana, namely Qutubuddinguda, Reddipally, and Appojiguda, as part of their efforts to identify the needs and conduct camps to address the required skilling areas.

The camp commenced with a thorough evaluation of the children’s English communication skills, revealing a significant need for improvement. In response, tailored English-speaking sessions were conducted, employing effective teaching methodologies. The children exhibited remarkable enthusiasm and progress, demonstrating a substantial improvement in their speaking skills and showcasing a keen interest in mastering the English language.

Addressing another critical aspect, the camp focused on enhancing health awareness among the girls of the villages. Engaging directly with the girls, a series of interactive sessions were conducted, delving into various aspects of their health. It was observed that a lack of knowledge about physical and hormonal changes during adolescence was prevalent among them. Consequently, comprehensive information about menstruation was provided, emphasizing the importance of adopting appropriate safety measures during this time.

Furthermore, the camp included career guidance sessions to support the aspirations of the children. Valuable guidance was provided, highlighting the necessary steps and shedding light on the potential challenges they may encounter along the way.

NIIT Ltd and NLSL post demerger announce Annual Financial Results FY23

New Delhi,30th May 2023: NIIT Ltd and NIIT Learning Systems Ltd (NLSL) announced annual results for FY23 today. This follows the strategic demerger announcement by NIIT, which has led to the establishment of two distinct entities—NIIT Ltd and NLSL.

The Board of NIIT Limited recently announced that its Corporate Learning Business undertaking has been transferred to NIIT Learning Systems Limited (NLSL) upon the Composite Scheme of Arrangement becoming effective May 24, 2023. Going forward, NIIT Limited will continue to focus on and operate the Skills & Careers business, whereas NLSL would operate the Corporate Learning Business.

NIIT Ltd Annual Financial Results

NIIT Limited (NSE: NIITLTD), a leading skills & talent development corporation, today reported its financial results for the Financial Year ending March 31, 2023. During the year the company recorded consolidated Net Revenue of Rs. 341.3 Cr, up 36% YoY. EBITDA was Rs. 1 Cr, and EBITDA Margin stood at 0.3%. Profit After Tax of Rs 3.2 Cr reflects EPS of Rs 0.2. During the quarter, the company recorded consolidated Net Revenue of Rs. 60 Cr.

The results were taken on record at the meeting of the Board of Directors held on May 29, 2023.

During the year revenue from the early career segment of NIIT Ltd. grew 15% YoY and contributed 54% to total revenue. The working professional segment grew 73% YoY contributing to the balance 46%. StackRoute and TpaaS grew 17% YoY.

NIIT acquired an additional 20% equity shareholding in RPS Consulting during the year. This takes the total shareholding to 90%. (It may be noted NIIT acquired 70% equity shareholding of RPS on October 1, 2021).

NIIT Learning Systems Limited (NLSL) Annual Financial results

NIIT Learning Systems Limited (NLSL), a leading provider of managed training services, today reported its financial results for the Financial Year ended March 31, 2023. During the year the company recorded consolidated Net Revenue of Rs. 1361.8 Cr, up 20% YoY. EBITDA was Rs. 315.4 Cr, up 6% YoY. EBITDA Margin stood at 23.2%. Profit After Tax was Rs. 192.2 Cr and the EPS stood at Rs. 14.3.

During the quarter, the company recorded consolidated Net Revenue of Rs. 385.7 Cr, up 30% YoY and PAT of Rs 53.9 Cr, up 17% QoQ. EBITDA was recorded at Rs. 94.8 Cr, up 30% YoY. EBITDA Margin stood at 24.6%, up 70 bps QoQ.

The results were taken on record at the meeting of the Board of Directors held on May 29, 2023.

NLSL added 12 global Managed Training Services (MTS) contracts during the year, did 2 contract expansions and 13 contract extensions. The company ended the year with 80 MTS customers and revenue visibility of USD 363 Mn.

During the year the company acquired 100% membership interest in St. Charles Consulting Group LLC (StC) during. Headquartered in St. Charles, Illinois, StC is a leading provider of consulting, design, and implementation solutions for strategic learning programs to professional services firms and Fortune 500 companies.

NLSL entered into a strategic partnership with EIT InnoEnergy Skills Institute. EIT InnoEnergy is the innovation engine for sustainable energy supported by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology, a body of the European Union (EU).

Kolkata, 30th May 2023 – The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) successfully conducted Convocation 2023 on May 27, 2023, simultaneously in 12 prominent cities across the country. The convocation centers included Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Ghaziabad, Indore, Jaipur, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ludhiana, Delhi, Pune, and Ahmedabad. The convocation at Kolkata was organized in Science City.

CA Pramod Jain, Convener of the M&SS Directorate at ICAI, extended a warm welcome to the newly qualified Chartered Accountants attending the convocation ceremonies nationwide. He wholeheartedly congratulated all the recent Chartered Accountants participating in this year’s convocation, emphasizing their remarkable achievements.

Addressing the participants, CA Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, Vice President of ICAI, highlighted the institute’s proactive role in nation-building. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the new members for successfully overcoming the challenges of the country’s most demanding examination. As a global body and the world’s second-largest accounting organization, ICAI has been instrumental in establishing standards in Accounting, Auditing, and Ethics, and playing a regulatory role in various disciplines. CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal emphasized the importance of upholding social and family values while encouraging the newly qualified Chartered Accountants to plan for giving back to society through the concept of ‘Learn, Earn, and Return.’

CA Aniket Sunil Talati, President of ICAI, acknowledged the nationwide significance of the convocation, which took place simultaneously in 12 different locations this year. He highlighted the global presence of the accounting profession represented by ICAI and the evolving dynamics shaped by societal and governmental expectations. Talati emphasized the transition from focusing solely on financial statements to embracing sustainability, which has become a pressing need for the global accounting profession.

Congratulating the newly qualified Chartered Accountants, CA Cotha S Srinivas, Deputy Convenor of the M&SS Directorate at ICAI, commended their remarkable accomplishments, highlighting their dedication and hard work.

They addressed all the new members present at various locations through digital mode themselves being physically present at the Delhi Convocation Centre.

CA Sushil Kumar Goyal, a Council Member of ICAI and Convocation Coordinator for Kolkata, underscored the significance of continuous professional development for Chartered Accountants to meet the evolving demands of society. He emphasized the emerging opportunities within the profession and emphasized the responsibilities of the members in contributing to the nation-building exercise. Goyal inspired the newly enrolled members to pursue their dreams while actively working towards transforming society.

CA (Dr) Debashis Mitra, Immediate Past President and Council Member of ICAI, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. He congratulated the CAs and urged the new members to familiarize themselves with the new frontiers opening up for Chartered Accountants. With India assuming the presidency of the G20 countries, which advocate for a unified world focused on sustainability, Mitra emphasized the pivotal role sustainability plays for the G20 nations.

CA Subodh Kumar Agrawal, Honorable Past President of ICAI and Guest of Honour at the Kolkata Convocation, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the new CAs for their promising careers. He advised them to maintain strong bonds with their friends who may not have succeeded this time and encouraged them to strive for progress in the future. Agrawal also highlighted the potential for Chartered Accountants to join the Civil Service and contribute to serving the nation. He emphasized the importance of embracing technology while maintaining mastery over it.

The vote of thanks was delivered by CA Debayan Patra, Chairman of the Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC), captivated the audience and encouraged the attendees to fearlessly navigate the challenges posed by life and the profession.
