Mumbai (India), 21st October 2023 Samvardhana Motherson International Limited (Motherson) announced a series of acquisitions to strengthen its non-automotive businesses further. These acquisitions are spread across the aerospace, health and medical businesses of the company and provide impetus for future growth.

The aerospace division of Motherson is building its capabilities in a phased and strategic manner, enabling it to offer a much wider range of services to aerospace OEMs. Motherson has completed four acquisitions in the Aerospace business segment, from AD Industries, Cirma, and SMAST in 2023 to CIM Tools in 2022. Each of these acquisitions brings a unique set of capabilities. AD Industries manufactures a wide range of components and sub-assemblies and has diverse capabilities across four key divisions (sheet metal, hydraulics, mechanical assemblies, and composites). Its ability to work with hard metals, soft metals, and composites simultaneously positions it uniquely in the aerospace ecosystem. CIM tools bring world-class machining and metal treatment capabilities (detailed parts for aerostructures), while Cirma and SMAST provide wiring harness solutions (EWIS) and advance system solutions. The suite of strategically acquired and organically developed competencies complement each other with limited overlap, which will help it offer a much wider range of services to aerospace OEMs globally. With 8 facilities in France, the group gets a strategic footprint in the heart of the European aerospace industry and together with 9 facilities in best-cost locations across India and Africa, the division is fully equipped to provide high-quality solutions to the aerospace supply chain. The division will also benefit from an impending increase in build rates. With booked business of US$ 1.3 bn+, the division has strong support from its customers, and the necessary competence to cater to the increased demand of the aerospace sector.

The health and medical business division is leveraging the capabilities of Motherson with a focus on diagnostic equipment, patient aid equipment, IT solutions and services. The greenfield plant in Chennai (India) is near SOP and certification audits are underway. The recent acquisitions of AD Industry and Irillic Private Limited are the first two for this division. AD Industry brings valuable capabilities in reinforced carbon composites, which are essential elements for radiology products like patient tables, X-ray detector housing, and more. This capability is highly scalable and can be utilised to cater to emerging applications prosthetics, orthopaedic equipment etc in addition to other applications in radiology. Irillic has strong capabilities in R&D and engineering, having secured two patents in India and the USA. Irillic has developed imaging systems (Fluorescence Imaging and 4K Laparoscopy) that provide real-time visualisations for a wide range of medical procedures. The division intends to continue developing solutions in-house, via acquisitions as well as through collaborations with universities, hospital systems, and research centres. With the manufacturing expertise of SAMIL, these recent acquisitions will propel significant growth for the division.

Gurugram, 21st October 2023: Software Technology Parks of India ISTPI) has marked a significant milestone as the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) Secretary Shri S. Krishnan inaugurated a state-of-the-art incubation facility of the Apiary Center of Entrepreneurship (CoE) at STPI-Gurugram. This momentous occasion was attended by Shri Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary, MeitY; Shri Pankaj Thakar, Chief Mentor, Shri Arvind Kumar, Director General, STPI; Shri Devesh Tyagi, Senior Director, STPI and Dr. Rajneesh Agrawal, Director, STPI-Gurugram.

Apiary is one of the CoEs of STPI which is focused on Blockchain Technology and is set up in collaboration with MeitY, STPI, Govt. of Haryana, Padup Ventures, IBM, Intel, GBA, and FITT. This CoE is a first-of-its-kind initiative to identify and support promising startups and promote entrepreneurship in the field of Blockchain Technology. It has a fully furnished incubation infrastructure of 7,000 sq. ft. equipped with 80 plug-n-play seats, conference rooms, and an auditorium. It targets to incubate an overall 100 startups in a period of 5 years.

During the inauguration, Shri S. Krishnan took a walk-through of the Apiary incubation facility and interacted with the young entrepreneurs.

“Meeting the young entrepreneurs was quite an enriching experience. The way these entrepreneurs have addressed real-world problems using cutting-edge technology is really commendable. These entrepreneurs aren’t confined to national boundaries and this quality distinguishes them from others. The inauguration was preceded by a conference on Sustainable Development Goals Thru Web 3.0, under which two sessions “Sustainable Development Goals With Web 3.0: Challenges and Opportunities” and “Business Transformation with Web 3.0” were organised. The Y20 India Talk featured a panel of distinguished guest speakers who brought valuable insights on how they are representing the global South countries and perspectives in order to bring change for the future issues that might arise.

The event was graced by The Chief Guest, Hon Mr. Justice G. Narendar, Senior-most Judge, The High Court of Karnataka, and the Guest of Honour, Mr. Justice M.I. Arun, Judge, The High Court of Karnataka. Dr. Aruna Shyam, Senior Advocate, The High Court of Karnataka was also present at this event.

While sharing his extensive experience and profound insights, Mr. Justice G. Narendar said, “While it is commonly said that the youth represents the future, I hold a different perspective. Urging the youth of the country to be familiar with the Indian Constitution, Mr. Justice M.I. Arun, Judge, said, “In democracy, the sovereignty lies with the citizens of the country collectively. Governance of the state is done through law which is an instrument of social change and they share a symbiotic bond. Our youth must be aware of the Constitution, which is currently not the case. Today’s sense of law among youngsters is heavily influenced by entertainment media. Having innate knowledge of the law and a keen sense of what truly is right and wrong is essential before starting one’s journey at a law school, which is the cornerstone of the law profession. Legal education gives courage to stand up for what is right.”

Speaking on the occasion, Professor (Dr.) Y.S.R. Murthy, Vice-Chancellor, R V University, made his points on several issues facing societies across the world. He quoted . Philip Alston, United Nations Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, by saying, “In Mr. Alston’s words, ‘Climate change threatens to undo the last 50 years of progress in development, global health, and poverty reduction’.

“Alston rightly highlights the disproportionate burden borne by the world’s disadvantaged, who contribute only a fraction of global emissions yet endure the brunt of climate change, often without the means to protect themselves. Meanwhile, the more privileged can afford to mitigate the effects of climate change, safeguarding themselves from hunger, conflict, and overheating. As legal professionals, it is our responsibility to address critical issues like climate justice, gender equality, custodial justice, and other pressing challenges to foster a fair and equitable future for all.”

The Y20 India Talk served as a platform for captivating discussions on the significance of youth engagement in democratic processes and governance, with a special emphasis on the pivotal role of legal professionals. The event encouraged critical thinking, exchange of ideas, and exploration of innovative approaches to address contemporary challenges.

RV University previously collaborated with the Grassroots Research and Advocacy Movement (GRAAM) where the event for the Delivering Democracy Working Group was organized by the prestigious Civil 20 (C20) under G20. Mumbai, 21st October 2023: The Board of Directors of TVS Srichakra Ltd. today approved the formation of a subsidiary in USA, with the intention of acquiring the business of Super Grip Corporation, USA.

Super Grip Corporation is a Tennessee-based company, established in 1984, to meet the need for high quality tyres for the industrial tyre market.

For TVS Srichakra, the proposed acquisition is in line with its growth agenda in the off-highway tyre market. The company has recently invested in a new plant at its Madurai facility which doubles its off-highway tyre capacity. This investment is largely directed at global markets.
