Himalaya Wellness Highlights Gum Health with It Starts With Gums Campaign

Hyderabad, 12th May 2025Himalaya Wellness Company, India’s pioneer in beauty and personal wellness, announced the launch of the second edition of the #ItStartsWithGums campaign, on Gum Health Day. Building on the strong response to last year’s campaign, this year’s initiative takes a playful turn, tapping into our growing reliance on AI for everyday answers to highlight an age-old truth—lasting oral health begins with healthy gums, a belief deeply rooted in Ayurveda.

In two insightful digital films titled ‘SOS’ and ‘Breath-checker’, Himalaya stages a humorous “Conversation with AI” to bring gum health into everyday dialogue. Whether it’s bleeding gums that trigger a dramatic AI intervention or a desperate breath check before a date, both films cut through the noise to reveal the common culprit—unhealthy gums. By marrying digital-first curiosity with Himalaya’s trusted Ayurvedic formulations, the films drive home the simple truth that lasting oral health starts with gums, from fresher breath to firmer teeth.

The campaign will roll out across multiple platforms, including YouTube and Facebook, supported by engaging digital displays at key transit hubs, extensive influencer activations led by oral-health experts. Every activation is designed to spark conversations, encourage early gum check-ups, and educate people that looking after your gums now can prevent much bigger issues down the road.

“Oral health begins at the foundation—the gums—and at Himalaya, we’re committed to addressing this essential but often overlooked aspect through the second edition of our #ItStartsWithGums campaign. This initiative goes beyond just raising awareness; it’s about changing behavior, encouraging early action, and empowering consumers to take charge of their gum health through simple, preventive steps. Because when your gums are healthy, everything else follows—starting from your smile to your overall well-being,” said Ragini Hariharan, Marketing Director, Personal Care and Hygiene, Himalaya Wellness Company.

Studies show that most people suffer from gum disease without realizing that bleeding, swelling, or bad breath are early warning signs. On Gum Health Day, Himalaya is helping bridge that gap and championing simple, preventive routines before issues turn painful and costly.

“To specifically target gum health, we’ve developed Himalaya Ayurveda Gum Care Toothpaste, a holistic Ayurvedic formulation featuring 13 time-tested herbs grounded in Danta Swasthya practices. This powerful blend not only removes plaque and fights gum-harmful bacteria but also helps tighten and strengthen gum tissue for long-lasting protection,” added Ponnappa K.B, Brand Manager-Consumer Products Division at Himalaya Wellness Company.

Sunitha Natarajan, Director-Digital Strategy, Social Panga, shared, “This Gum Health Day marks Himalaya’s return with our second oral health initiative, emphasizing a crucial message: for good oral care, #ItStartsWithGums. In today’s world, we seek answers, not just results. This insight inspired our campaign, featuring two films that engage in conversations with AI, debunking myths, and bringing gum care into everyday conversations. By blending traditional care with digital curiosity, we’ve created a relatable and impactful campaign that’s hard to ignore.”

Brain Surgery is Only the First Step, Recovery Shapes the Future

By-Dr Sumit Goyal, Director, Neurosurgery and Group Director Neurointervention, Yatharth Hospital, Greater Noida

Brain surgery is among the most complex procedures in medicine, requiring precision, expertise, and advanced technology. Thanks to medical advancements, outcomes have improved significantly, but recovery after brain surgery remains a gradual journey. It involves physical healing, emotional adjustment, and consistent medical follow-up to restore the best possible quality of life.

Hospital Care and Rehabilitation

After brain surgery, patients are shifted to a neuro-intensive care unit for close monitoring. The first few days are critical as the brain adjusts after the procedure. Vital signs, brain pressure, and neurological responses are checked regularly. Patients may initially experience confusion, weakness, speech difficulties, or vision problems, depending on the area of the brain operated upon. Early mobilization, such as sitting up and moving with assistance, often begins within a few days to prevent complications like blood clots or pneumonia.

Rehabilitation is a cornerstone of recovery. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and cognitive rehabilitation often start soon after surgery. Physiotherapy helps rebuild strength and balance, while occupational therapy focuses on regaining independence in daily activities. Speech and swallowing therapy can assist those who face communication difficulties. Cognitive rehabilitation addresses memory, concentration, and problem-solving skills.

Emotional Changes and The Role of Caregivers

The emotional impact of brain surgery is often underestimated. Many patients experience anxiety, mood swings, fear of recurrence, or depression during recovery. This emotional strain is common, particularly when surgery affects parts of the brain related to mood and behavior. Counseling, psychological therapy, and support groups can make a significant difference

Family support is a major factor in recovery after brain surgery. Caregivers help with physical needs, emotional reassurance, and encouragement during rehabilitation. Training caregivers on how to assist with exercises, medication management, and recognizing warning signs like seizures or sudden confusion can empower families and improve patient outcomes.

Return to Normal Life

Returning to work or school depends on the nature of the surgery, the patient’s occupation, and the pace of recovery. Many individuals can gradually resume normal activities within a few days, while for some it may take several weeks or even a few months, requiring job modifications or additional therapy. Employers are becoming more sensitive toward the rehabilitation needs of patients recovering from neurological illnesses, but awareness still needs to grow.

Activities such as driving, traveling, and sports are usually reintroduced cautiously after clearance from the neurosurgical team. Patients must also continue regular follow-ups, take medications as prescribed, and maintain a healthy lifestyle to prevent complications.

Long-Term Health and Monitoring

Long-term follow-up care is crucial after brain surgery. Regular consultations, imaging tests and neurological evaluations help monitor healing and detect any early signs of complications. Some patients may require long-term medications to control seizures, manage swelling, or prevent recurrence in cases like brain tumors.

Life after brain surgery is a testament to human resilience. With early rehabilitation, emotional support, family involvement, and regular medical care, many patients are able to regain independence and lead fulfilling lives. Advances in neurosurgical techniques, combined with a multidisciplinary approach to recovery, are giving patients across India new hope after even the most complex brain surgeries.

The journey may be challenging, but with the right care and information, life after brain surgery can be rich with possibilities and renewed strength.

Uber expands Courier to include large deliveries using 3 or 4-wheelers

Mumbai, May 12, 2025: Uber today announced the launch of Courier XL in India, a new category under its logistics product, Courier, enabling deliveries of large goods, all with a few taps on the app. Powered by both 3-, and 4-wheeler goods carriers, Courier XL offers a fast, flexible, and tech-enabled solution for heavier shipments.

This expansion builds on the rapid growth of Uber Courier – Uber’s package delivery service on bikes & 2-wheelers in India. Since its launch, the service has expanded to 25 cities, and has been used by over 5 million users. Deliveries through Uber Courier rose by over 50% year-on-year during 2024, and the rate of growth has been on a further rise on the already high base during the first 3 months of 2025.

Courier XL brings the same benefits users have come to expect from Uber Courier, including live tracking, upfront pricing, on-demand convenience, seamless booking via the Uber app. The product has been launched in Delhi NCR and Mumbai, with additional cities planned for launch over the coming months. Users can now send large packages up to 750 kgs through Courier XL.

Speaking on the launch, Shiva Shailendran, Director – Consumer & Growth, Uber India South Asia, said, “Courier XL is our answer to a growing demand from users – especially small businesses and households – who need a reliable way to move heavier goods across the city. Whether it’s inventory, furniture, or large parcels, we’re making big moves simpler and smarter.”

India’s on-demand logistics sector is growing rapidly, and Uber Courier is at the center of this shift, driven by how, when, and why users choose to send items across their cities. The average delivery distance for Courier deliveries in the country during 2024 was 11 kilometers, with Delhi NCR and Mumbai emerging as hubs for longer deliveries, averaging 14 km and 12 km respectively. At the extremes, Courier handled everything during 2024, from hyperlocal deliveries, such as a 750-metre trip in Chennai, to much larger movements like a 134 km delivery completed within Delhi NCR.

User behavior also reveals strong daily and weekly patterns. The most popular delivery window during 2024 was between 12 PM and 1 PM, which was likely used to send pre-packed lunch to offices and homes. Delhi NCR saw the highest demand for late-night deliveries, with nearly 10% of its trips occurring after 11 PM. Looking at weekly trends, demand for Courier services was highest from Monday to Wednesday nationwide.

Courier has been loved by users across the country since its launch, with the product being more than just parcels – it’s about making life easier, especially during key moments. Courier witnesses demand spikes around festivals such as Rakshabandhan, Diwali, and Christmas, and topical days such as the upcoming Mother’s Day on May 11. Uber Courier’s store pickup feature and on-demand availability make it ideal for sending prepaid gifts and surprises.

Goa Tourism Outreach Drives 10.5 Percent Rise in Q1 2025 Arrivals

Panaji, 12 May 2025: Goa Tourism has reported a robust 10.5% year-on-year growth in tourist arrivals for Q1 2025, registering 28,51,554 visitors, up from 25,80,155 in Q1 2024. This sustained momentum highlights Goa’s evolution from a seasonal beach destination to a globally connected, culturally immersive, and year-round tourism economy.
At the heart of this growth is a three-pronged strategy by the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa — strengthening promotion in core and emerging markets, expanding international air connectivity, and diversifying tourism offerings.
Expanded Connectivity and Market Access
Strategic aviation partnerships have unlocked new inbound potential. Air India Express which already had direct connectivity to Dubai now connects Goa directly to Kuwait and Abu Dhabi. This gain was supported by sustained engagements with Gulf carriers and efforts to tap into transit markets in Middle Eastern aviation hubs — a crucial move given current bilateral limitation, which the state continues to address in coordination with the Centre.
Global Promotions and Trade Engagements
Goa Tourism has made strong inroads into new markets through targeted campaigns and physical presence at key events — including WTM London, ITB Asia (Singapore), the Tashkent International Tourism Fair, and the recent Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025 in Dubai.
During WTM London, Goa was a proud participant in the Chalo India Global Diaspora Initiative launched by the Government of India, designed to encourage members of the Indian diaspora to bring foreign friends to India. The initiative aligns with Goa’s strategy to target high-value travellers and cultural ambassadors globally.
At ATM Dubai, high-level meetings with the Consul General of India and regional tourism stakeholders further laid the groundwork for a long-term tourism bridge between the UAE and India, with Goa positioned as a premium entry point — not just for leisure, but also for cultural, wellness, and family travel segments.
Goa Beyond Beaches — Year-Round Experiences
With product diversification at its core, Goa continues to reposition itself with offerings such as the Ekadasha Teertha spiritual circuit, wellness and Ayurveda retreats, hinterland adventures, and regenerative village experiences. These appeal especially to conscious travellers, global nomads, and off-season domestic tourists — with monsoon travel packages gaining traction in Middle Eastern markets.
Cultural events such as Deep Parv, Raponkaracho Sea Food Festival, Chikhal Kalo, Sao Joao, Festavista, and the Goa Food & Cultural Festivals like Spirit of Goa & Heritage Festival have strengthened local engagement while attracting experiential tourism beyond the coastline.
Industry Engagement Amid Seasonal Uncertainty
While April generally sees a dip post-Easter, May traditionally performs strongly due to school holidays and domestic leisure travel. However, current regional uncertainties have cast some unpredictability over forward demand. In response, the Department of Tourism has convened meetings with representatives from hospitality, transport, travel services, and alternate accommodations to review May–July booking patterns and collaboratively identify steps to mitigate any potential slowdown.
These discussions are aimed at building resilience, promoting shared visibility, and ensuring industry alignment across the coming season.
Inclusive Growth and Tourism for Impact
With initiatives such as the Homestay Policy, support for women-led tourism enterprises, and enhanced inclusion of village-based tourism in the visitor economy, Goa is ensuring that tourism benefits are widely distributed. The Department is also working to integrate alternate accommodations into the formal ecosystem — encouraging quality, accountability, and long-term participation.
Our Q1 success is not accidental — it is a result of deep partnerships, strategic planning, and consistent market outreach,” said Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, IT, E&C, Government of Goa. “Even as we stay alert to emerging dynamics, our goal remains clear — to make Goa a future-ready destination built on sustainability, connectivity, and meaningful visitor experiences.”
As Goa progresses through 2025, its focus remains on value-driven tourism, responsive governance, and shared prosperity — setting a benchmark for resilient and forward-looking tourism in India.
