Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies has been recognized for its global sustainable initiatives by The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2023.

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The assessment provides a comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching.

In the 2023 rankings, a total of 1591 universities have been assessed from 112 countries across the globe.

MRIIRS has ranked 1st in NCR/Haryana, 9th in India, and has been placed amongst the top 200 global institutions (band 101-200) for its contributions towards SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).

In SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), MRIIRS has secured 1st rank in NCR/Haryana, 5th rank In India, and has been placed in the band 201-300 globally.

In SDG 3 (Good Health and Well Being), MRIIRS has ranked 2nd in NCR, 3rd in Haryana, 11th In India and has been placed in the band 401-600 globally.

In SDG 5 (Gender Equality), MRIIRS has ranked 3rd in NCR, 2nd in Haryana, 12th In India, and has been placed in the band 401-600 globally.

It is quite noteworthy that MRIIRS has also secured a glorious place in QS University Asia Rankings 2023 on the basis of the quality maintained in Academics, Faculty-Student Ratio, International Faculty Ratio, International Students Ratio, and International Research Network.

As an acknowledgment of the strong teaching-learning processes, MRIIRS has been rated QS 5 Star for TEACHING, EMPLOYABILITY, ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT, FACILITIES, SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND INCLUSIVENESS. The university has also been accorded a QS 4-Star rating for the Program Strength of its Computer Science and Engineering degree courses. The rating bestowed by QS is valid for a period of three years (upto July 2023).

All used BharatBenz vehicles repaired and restored to a near showroom condition by ‘BharatBenz Certified’ will come with a warranty of 6 months. Customers will have the option of going for a new Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) for their pre-owned BharatBenz trucks or even transfer the existing warranty and AMC from the previous owner.

While commercial trucks typically have a lifecycle of 5-6 years, BharatBenz trucks have proven that they can run tirelessly for millions of kilometers, only undergoing service at manufacturer-prescribed time intervals. This increases the lifespan of BharatBenz CVs way beyond 5-6 years which makes them a lucrative pre-owned proposition for customers who are keen to buy pre-owned BharatBenz vehicles, which, after being refurbished by BharatBenz Certified, would be as good as new with respect to reliability, performance, safety and total cost of ownership.

DICV also has a program called ‘BharatBenz Exchange’ that was launched with an objective to providing customers, who owned CVs made by other brands, to shift to BharatBenz. While BharatBenz Exchange has increased the sale of BharatBenz CVs in India since its launch in 2020, the newly introduced BharatBenz Certified complements BharatBenz Exchange in utilizing the longer lifecycle of BharatBenz CVs that customers can enjoy.

New Delhi, 6th June 2023 Cutting-edge simulator technology promises to slash India’s military GHG emissions while enhancing training efficiency, notes TERI’s newly launched report titled ‘Supporting Armed Forces Efforts Towards Sustainability: Application of Simulators in Military Training’ at the event- “Accelerating Sustainable Training in the Armed Forces: A Simulator-Based Approach”. With shrinking swathes of land available for on-field training, simulators have presented themselves as not only a cost-effective option but one that largely retains training efficacy of army personnel while also providing significant GHG emission reduction due to defence operations.

Highlighting the success that simulators have seen in the defence sector globally due to their cost effectiveness and recently also due to their sustainability benefits, Dr Vibha Dhawan, Director General TERI noted, “By using simulators, we can minimize consumption of ammunition and fuel, therefore create a more sustainable future where armed forces can also be a key player,” at the report launch.

Stressing the aptness of the report being released on the World Environment Day and its comprehensive insights on the environmental and economic benefits of simulator-based training, Major General C S Mann, VSM, Additional Director General, Army Design Bureau in his Keynote Address underscored, “How the defence sector will be able to contribute to environmental conservation through the use of simulators is an innovative approach. We appreciate TERI through the release of this report in terms of bringing out this correlation between simulator-based training and the ways in which it can help mitigate the sector’s GHG emissions.”

Due to the high cost of ammunition of certain sophisticated weapon systems, there are restrictions imposed on their live firing for training. Nonetheless, it is imperative to train personnel on such systems for proficiency and familiarization. Simulators (such as the Anti-Aircraft Air Defence Simulator, or “3ADS”) address this gap, while also eliminating the release of toxic gases within the atmosphere. Building on this Mr Ashok Atluri, Managing Director, Zen Technologies said, “This study by TERI proves that simulators are cheaper, faster, much more sustainable, and a better way to train armed forces making their usage all the more sensible.”

While the current level of emissions from the defence sector may be low, given the preparedness required for future encounters, GHG emissions from defence operations globally are expected to reach 25% by 2050. Speaking at the launch Mr Souvik Bhattacharjya, Associate Director, TERI, stated, “Given that global emissions for the defence sector will rise considerably over the next couple of years, we believe that the increased adoption of simulated training will help the military assist India in achieving its climate commitments.” He emphasized that Zen Technologies commitment to accelerating sustainable practices in defence training aligns perfectly with TERI’s vision of a greener and more secure future. Harnessing the power of simulator-based training can significantly reduce carbon emissions while maintaining the highest standards of training efficiency in the armed forces.

Beyond assessing the relationship between simulator-based training, its efficacy in training army personnel and the reduction of the defence sector’s carbon footprint, the in-depth study conducted by TERI also aims to help the armed forces contribute to India’s national and international climate goals.

The report launch was followed by an expert-led panel discussion on ‘Forging a Pathway towards Sustainable Defence Training’ that discussed the sustainability impact defence sector can have as India walks the talk on its environmental goals and emission reduction.

HCL Cyclothon in partnership with Clean Noida also organized a community engagement for cyclists where they participated in a vibrant wall-painting activity at Noida Sector-93. KPA Majeed, Tirurangadi MLA, handed over the cheques to the family members at a special meeting organised at SNM Higher Secondary School, Parapanangadi. Dr. Sumita Nandan, Executive Director, Manappuram Finance Limited, presided. A financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh has been distributed among six families who lost their loved ones in the disaster. During the presidential address at the event, Dr. Sumitha Nandan said: “Although it is not a solution to the irreparable loss, it is an attempt to provide some solace.”
