Cornerstone unveils the 2023 Talent Health Index Report: India Edition – Illuminating the Path to Future-Ready Organizations

New Delhi, India – 18th November 2023. Cornerstone OnDemand, Inc. a leader in learning and talent experience solutions, today announced the release of its 2023 Talent Health Index: India edition, providing a comprehensive view of the state of talent programs across organizations in India. The report reveals that the majority of organizations in India are lagging in their talent development initiatives, emphasizing the crucial need for organizations to construct a comprehensive talent strategy aimed at bridging the workforce skills gap and adapting to sweeping workplace changes.

Key findings from the Talent Health Index (THI) Report: India edition include:

• Most organizations have significant room for talent program improvement: The average THI for organizations in India placed them in the ‘Administrative’ maturity level, demonstrating a mastery of the basics but a very early exploration of new innovation. At this level, talent programs are behind in automation and organizations lack a robust learning strategy.

• Organizations are slow to adopt emerging talent innovation: Only 17% of organizations say they leverage a sophisticated set of learner-centric tools to streamline talent processes and information, and more than 55% of organizations stated they are not yet leveraging AI technology to optimize their talent.

• Organizations need to take comprehensive action to master skills intelligence: Only 39% of organizations surveyed focus on identifying the current and future skilling needs, aligned with business strategy.

High-Performing Organizations are Fit for the Future Not all organizations are lagging in maturity.

The report showed that organizations that rated themselves higher in customer satisfaction, productivity, employee retention and overall performance — categorized as High-Performing Organizations (HPOs) —exhibited a notably higher score on the Talent Health Index as well. On average, HPOs landed at the Sophisticated maturity level and, specifically, exemplified higher maturity levels in these three dimensions: Learning & Development, Talent Mobility and Talent Reporting, Data and analytics.

Comments on the Research

Organizations must invest in a well-rounded, multi-faceted talent management strategy to thrive amidst evolving workplace challenges. The average Talent Health Index score in this first India edition placed organizations in the “Administrative” maturity level, suggesting there is a lot of room for improvement. Talent leaders must act urgently and adopt a whole-system approach to build a comprehensive talent development ecosystem,” said Nishchae Suri, Managing Director – India, Cornerstone. The THI India edition will serve as a guide, helping organizations in India to identify significant opportunities, chart a path to success, and develop talent programs and employee experiences that drive real business transformation.

Research Methodology

The India edition of the Talent Health Index (THI) study was carried out after the successful launch of Cornerstone’s 2023 Global Talent Health Index Report in September 2023. The India survey deployed from August 2023 to September 2023 captured responses from 127 organizations in India across most industries. Survey questions focused on the maturity level of seven critical talent program dimensions, including Culture & Technology, Skills Strategy, Learning & Development, Content Strategy, Performance Management, Talent Mobility and Talent Reporting, Data & Analytics. Based on respondents’ answers, the maturity of their organizations’ talent programs was defined in one of four overarching maturity levels: Foundational, Administrative, Sophisticated and Transformative, with each level building on the previous one. Laila Tyabji bestowed the title of National Design Guru by World University of Design

Laila Tyabji

Hyderabad /18th November 2023: Noted designer, craft revivalist, and Padma Shri recipient Laila Tyabji has been bestowed with the title of National Design Guru by the Sonipat-based World University of Design. She was given the honor on the occasion of National Design Guru Day which the university celebrates annually on the birth anniversary of renowned design thinker Prof. MP Ranjan to pay tribute to the first generation of Design Gurus in India.

Laila Tyabji is a name synonymous with the revival and renaissance of traditional Indian crafts and the empowerment of artisans across the country. Her remarkable journey as a designer, activist, and co-founder of Dastkar, a society for crafts and craftspeople, has left an indelible mark on the Indian cultural landscape. She has played a pivotal role in promoting indigenous craftsand preserving the rich tapestry of India’s artistic heritage.Over the last 35 years, Dastkar, under Laila Tyabji’s visionary leadership, has partnered with numerous crafts organizations and NGOs to uplift artisans and provide them with economic opportunities.

Laila Tyabji’s commitment to artisans extends across the length and breadth of the country, encompassing diverse craft forms such as Banjara Needle Crafts, Rabari mirror work from Kutch and Maharashtra, Chikan craft from Lucknow, Gond, Phad, and Mata art from Pacheri, Madhubani painters, Kasuti embroidery from Karnataka, Handloom weavers in Bihar and Karnataka, as well as leather, textile, and terracotta artisans in Rajasthan. In recognition of her exceptional contributions to India’s crafts sector, in 2012, Laila Tyabji was honored with the prestigious Padma Shri Award by the Govt. Of India.

Delivering the MP Ranjan Memorial Lecture at the felicitation ceremony, Laila Tyabji said: “All over India, we have crafts people with extraordinary skills who are able to handcraft everything, from a terracotta statue to a temple, from a wicker basket to diamond jewelry. They are not only an important part of our aesthetic and culture, but of our economy too. These skillsets and knowledge systems represent a gold mine, an edge that we have over the rest of the world. However, our crafts people face lot of discrimination. They are seen as part of an exotic but irrelevant India rather than the skilled professionals that they are. Having travelled the world, I have realized that what makes us interesting as a nation are our uniqueness and differences from others in the world, not our similarities. If we need to make a place for ourselves in the world, we should do it on the basis of our skills, not our weaknesses. And one of our core strengths is the distinctive aesthetic of our crafts and knowledge systems. In this context, I congratulate the World University of Design for their incredible contribution to the world of design and crafts in India and given this field its due value.”

Addressing the audiences, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Vice-Chancellor, World University of Design, said, “WUD started honoring Design Gurus to inspire design practitioners to strive for excellence as well as knowledge sharing within the community. The recognition of outstanding contributors not only motivates individuals but also draws attention to significance of design education. The award seeks to create role models, encourage collaboration, and set benchmarks for excellence, thereby driving advancements and raising standards within the field.

Laila is an illustrious member of that generation of ‘gurus’ who have, for more than three decades, supported and promoted the cause of crafts and craftspeople of India; designing, developing & contemporarising the crafts, honing skills, and developing markets. She has single-handedly created awareness regarding Indian crafts in India and throughout the world.”

Since their inception in 2018 World University of Design has emerged as a prominent educational institution spearheading all creative fields as a discipline. Being the first and the only institution exclusively dedicated to the creative fields, the university recognizes National Design Guru Day every year to mark the birth anniversary of Prof. M P Ranjan, a name that pioneered design education as part of mainstream curriculum and helped it percolate it through generations of students of design. While observing this day annually the university pays its homage to the first generation of Design Gurus who flagged off the revolutionary design movement in India.

Russian House in New Delhi, in collaboration with the Indian Association of Russian Compatriots (IARC), Rossotrudnichestvo, and the Russian State University conducts Mission ‘Dobro

Russian House

New Delhi, 18th November 2023 – The Russian volunteer mission “Dobro” (Goodness), a collaborative effort by Rossotrudnichestvo and the Russian State University for the Humanities, recently concluded its activities in New Delhi. The mission aimed to provide socialization and correction for children aged 3 to 13 from the Mala Smriti orphanage, situated in challenging conditions in Indian slums. The Indian Association of Russian Compatriots (IARC) along with the Russian House assisted them in conducting the mission in this country.

Working in conjunction with the Indian Association of Russian Compatriots and the Russian House in New Delhi, the mission successfully executed a multifaceted plan to uplift the lives of children in need. The volunteers, consisting of three teachers and seven students from the Russian State Humanitarian University (RGGU), engaged the children in various activities to enhance their emotional and cognitive development. Traditional Russian techniques, such as creating kokoshniks, and painting plates with Gzhel, Khokhloma, and Semyonovskaya matryoshka motifs, captured the children’s interest and creativity.

“We introduced children to the elements of traditional Russian costume. They made kokoshniks, made belts for boys, and painted plates using Gzhel motifs. Master classes were held on correcting the emotional sphere of children from the orphanage,” said Evgenia Kriger, Head of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of Education at the Russian State University for the Humanities. “In general, we are very pleased with the work, we like the way we are greeted. We gain quite a lot of experience working in another culture, understanding their reality,” she added.

‘’I am delighted to witness the transformative impact of the ‘Dobro’ mission in India. Through collaborative efforts, we are not only fostering cultural exchange but, more importantly, uplifting the lives of those in need. The power of international cooperation and volunteerism knows no bounds, and IARC remains committed to strengthening the ties that bind our nations in shared compassion and understanding.” – said, Elena Barman, President, Indian Association of Russian Compatriots(IARC)

Special attention was given to interactive games, round dances, and “Rucheyok” (Streamlet) to promote emotional well-being. The children were encouraged to express themselves through drawing, crafting appliqués, and working with natural materials, fostering a sense of individuality and imagination. In preparation for the festival of Diwali, the volunteers collaborated with the children to create festive decorations, posters, and illuminated spaces with balloons and candles.

Though it’s still early to quantify the mission’s impact, the teachers from the Russian State University for the Humanities noted positive changes in the children. Increased activity, a disappearance of melancholy in their eyes, and a newfound openness in communication were observed, indicating progress in the emotional and social spheres.

In addition to their work at the orphanage, the volunteers visited a local cow and dog shelter, making donations for its development. They actively participated in community initiatives, including the opening of a Russian books shelf at “The Reader’s Cafe,” and conducted cultural awareness classes for girls at Khrist Raja Secondary School.

The “Dobro” mission exemplifies the spirit of international cooperation and volunteerism, showcasing the positive impact that collaborative efforts can have on the lives of underprivileged children. The organizers express their gratitude to all partners for their support in making this mission a success.

Pallets keep the automotive supply chain robust

Mumbai,18th November 2023: The automotive industry in India is witnessing a drive to enlarge its presence in the market, and a well-optimized logistics network plays a pivotal role in achieving this objective. In today’s highly competitive business landscape, characterized by rapidly evolving customer expectations and global supply chain complexities, a streamlined and agile supply chain becomes imperative. In a supply chain that has the requisite infrastructural support, a pallet forms the backbone of an efficient operation. An efficient logistics-backed supply chain ensures a greater percentage of palletization in the industry to meet the unending appetite of the automotive sector.

For EXZOD India, a leading player in pallet manufacturing, sale, and Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) services, the usage of palletization means a lower incidence of dents or damage. In addition, palletization would result in a higher percentage of ready-to-assemble components that would, in turn, result in a faster market release of passenger cars. Palletization plays a very important role in mass production-based plants for the easy movement of parts from one location to another.

Nitin Kalla,

According to Nitin Kalla, founder & MD, EXZOD India, “We have vast experience in managing complex supply chains across various end-markets, and are well-poised to handle the requirements of the automotive industry. We focus on providing integrated solutions backed by technology, ensuring operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives. Sustainability is a key aspect of our approach, as we strive to contribute to a greener and more responsible future.”

The significance of an efficient logistics backed supply chain cannot be overstated. By fostering robust coordination among different stakeholders such as automobile manufacturers, suppliers, and dealers, pallets enable the industry to enhance operational efficiency and responsiveness to dynamic market demands. An optimized supply chain empowers the Indian automotive industry to reduce lead times, improve inventory management and adapt swiftly to changing market dynamics. It facilitates cost-effective transportation, storage and distribution of vehicles and spare parts for servicing, allowing businesses to remain competitive in terms of pricing. Additionally, an efficient logistics framework supports sustainable practices, promoting eco-friendly initiatives and reducing the industry’s environmental impact.

The Indian economy will grow on the strength of domestic demand and investment despite a rise in global uncertainties and moderation in global output, according to the Economic Review released by the finance ministry’s department of economic affairs (DEA). Post-pandemic, the automobile industry picked up pace driven by the growing demand and supported by various incentives such as Production Linked Incentives (PLI) scheme, FAME II and EV-specific state policies.

NIKKOR Celebrates Its 90th Anniversary

New Delhi , 18th November 2023: Nikon India Private Limited, a 100% subsidiary of Nikon Corporation, an imaging technology leader, is proud to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the launch of the NIKKOR lenses. In commemoration of this milestone, Nikon aims to further strengthen and increase awareness of the NIKKOR brand through various initiatives.

Towards this, Nikon has created a 90th-anniversary logo to commemorate the enduring legacy of NIKKOR. This logo showcases the silhouettes of lenses that have left their mark on the history of imaging since the inception of the NIKKOR brand, as well as the symbolic lenses of the present.

Additionally, the logo features the message “A Story in Every Lens.” This phrase expresses the unique characteristics and thoughtful dedication found in all NIKKOR lenses, as well as their power to capture precious moments, while preserving history and telling stories that resonate with people’s hearts.

A series of short videos that highlight the value and quality of NIKKOR lenses, as well as the achievements they have enabled, will also be released.

The NIKKOR brand

The 90 years of NIKKOR’s history began in 1932 with the registration of the NIKKOR trademark by Nikon (then Nippon Kogaku K.K.). A year later, the first shipment of Aero-NIKKOR aerial photographic lenses was dispatched. Nikon is unique in that it is one of the few manufacturers in the world that begins its manufacturing process from the production of optical glass. This commitment to excellence is the foundation for the exceptional optical performance of NIKKOR lenses. Over the years, by consistently developing lenses that feature the cutting-edge optical technologies of the time, NIKKOR has grown to be a globally recognized brand known for its high-performance lenses.

NIKKOR has always been at the forefront of innovation. Photographs taken with the NIKKOR PC 8.5cm F2, released in 1948, was featured in the globally renowned LIFE magazine, significantly enhancing NIKKOR’s reputation. Subsequently, The New York Times published an article that highlighted the high quality of NIKKOR products, helping to establish the concept of “Made in Japan” quality. In 1963, the Zoom-NIKKOR Auto 43-86mm f/3.5 was the first standard zoom lens to offer practical performance. More recently, in 2019, the NIKKOR Z 58mm f/0.95 S Noct, the flagship lens among NIKKOR Z lenses, achieved the milestone of being the fastest lens in Nikon history with an aperture of f/0.95*1. These lenses, among many others, showcase Nikon’s commitment to providing unique and high-quality options that support users in expressing their creative vision.

Another testament to the superior optical performance and reliability of NIKKOR lenses is found in its important role in NASA’s space missions. In 1971, the Nikon Photomic FTN (NASA specifications) and NIKKOR lenses were employed on the Apollo 15 mission, while in 2009, the D3S and AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED lenses were ordered to document activities at the International Space Station (ISS). To this day, Nikon continues to play a role in NASA’s space missions by regularly supplying cameras and lenses. This relationship with NASA has also contributed to the advancement of Nikon’s optical technologies, thereby continuing to improve the quality of photography and research in space.

In 2018, Nikon utilized its extensive knowledge and expertise to launch the Z mount system. This system is comprised of mirrorless cameras that feature a new, largest-diameter mount*2, along with compatible NIKKOR Z lenses and accessories. The NIKKOR Z lenses are designed to continue pursuing a new dimension in optical performance, by taking advantage of the superior design flexibility realized through the combination of the larger Z mount with its inner diameter of 55 mm, and a short flange focal distance of 16 mm. This combination allows for greater design flexibility and opens up new possibilities for image creators.

Inspired by the rich 90-year history of NIKKOR and its endless technological advancements, Nikon India remains committed to contributing to the development of imaging culture, with the hope of expanding possibilities for imaging expression.
