STT GDC India signs an MoU with the Govt of TN to invest INR 1900 Cr in the state to significantly expand its presence

New Delhi,07th February 2024: STT GDC India is the oldest and largest data centre operator in the state of Tamil Nadu and the country. The company currently has close to 45 MW of operational capacity in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. In sync with the massive digital adoption in the country and with Tamil Nadu’s economic pre-eminence and natural advantages, STT GDC India continues to invest in the state as part of its strategic expansion.

 Given the potential, STT GDC India has signed an MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu during the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet 2024 signalling up to INR 1900 crores of investment outlook. STT GDC India envisages creating additional data centre capacity of up to 80 MW critical IT load in multiple phases over the next 5 to 7 years across suitable locations in the state. 

This MoU reflects the efforts of the government of Tamil Nadu to develop and oversee the growth of advanced data centre facilities in the region and leverage the unique potential of Tamil Nadu, with its advanced state of industrialization and international connectivity, as one of the leading leading data centre hubs in India and the region. The spirit of cooperation between STT GDC India and the Government of Tamil Nadu is expected to drive significant growth in the Data centre space, create incremental employment opportunities, and contribute to the overall development of the state‘s digital infrastructure.

  • Top phishing prevention rate of 100%: In Phishing Prevention Tests, Check Point demonstrated the best overall prevention against phishing URLs, making use of advanced AI deep learning and global threat prevention. Competitor’s miss rates were as high as 469 per 1000 phishing attacks

Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi reviewed the operation of the first indigenous alkaline electrolyser, a groundbreaking achievement for India.

Developed collaboratively by BPCL and the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), the prototype was showcased to the Prime Minister by Shri G. Krishnakumar, C&MD of BPCL.

Alkaline water electrolysis, the process through which hydrogen is produced from alkaline water via electrolysis, marks a pivotal advancement in industrial-scale application. The technology demonstrates high cell efficiency and robustness in an alkaline environment.

In line with India’s target to produce 5 million tons of green hydrogen by 2030, BPCL strategically plans a 5 MW Green Hydrogen Plant at Bina Refinery. Additionally, a 500 KW capacity Integrated Hydrogen Refueling Station will be established at CIAL.

This electrolyser underscores BPCL’s commitment to India’s pursuit of Energy Independence through initiatives such as “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat” and “Vocal for Local”. By manufacturing this electrolyser locally, BPCL actively contributes to the nation’s self-sufficiency in the energy sector.

BPCL is showcasing its ongoing efforts in the IEW 2024 Hydrogen Pavilion, highlighting progress in green hydrogen production. This initiative aims to spotlight India’s indigenous capabilities in the hydrogen domain, garnering significant interest from technocrats and industry stakeholders.
