“Samsung Semiconductor India expands R&D footprint with a new state-of-the-art R&D facility in Namma Bengaluru”

India, 29 th February 2024 – Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) today announced the opening of its new R&D facility in Bengaluru. The expansion marks a significant milestone in SSIR’s commitment to driving cutting-edge semiconductor research and development in India, while addressing the company’s growing needs for advanced infrastructure. This is SSIR’s second office in Bengaluru, with a capacity to accommodate close to sixteen hundred professionals. Lighthouse invests INR 284 crores in Kushal’s Fashion Jewellery in a Series B funding round

Bangalore, 29th February 2024: Lighthouse India Fund IV AIF has invested INR 284 crores in Kushal’s, India’s leading fashion and silver jewellery brand. Kushal’s is the first investment by Lighthouse from its newly raised, fourth private equity fund. This round also includes a secondary buy-out providing part exit to its first institutional investor India SME Investments, which invested in 2019.

Marwadi University hosts esteemed sports personalities for its action-packed Annual Sports Fest 2024

New Delhi, 29th February 2024: Marwadi University (MU) is excited to announce the successful conclusion of its Annual Sports Fest organised by its Department of Physical Education and Sports and the Faculty of Health Sciences, at its vibrant campus in Rajkot, Gujarat. The event was an action-packed two days of sportsmanship, uniting students, athletes, and sports enthusiasts from various disciplines. Games included Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Athletics, Badminton, Chess, Table Tennis, Deadlift, Tug of War, Kabaddi, Kho Kho, among others. With a remarkable career, Dr. Singh has significantly contributed to promoting excellence in competitive sports across 1000 member universities during his 25 years at the Association of Indian Universities and has tirelessly dedicated himself tirelessly to provide the latest scientific support to potential sportspersons. Marwadi University (MU), which has a declared commitment to nurturing future athletes across all sporting categories, asserts it has till date invested over INR 8 Cr with a plan to build a strong sporting ecosystem to complement academics. Significant investments are underway to expand the indoor sports facility and an additional football ground with night lighting and stadium style seating, in addition to a 4-acre sports complex with a lakeside athletics track.

During 2022-23, approximately 350 students represented MU in various AIU/West Zone and National Sports Tournaments. One of our students Harshil Parekh was a member of the Santosh Trophy football team which was held in Goa. The volleyball and basketball teams won third place in West Zone EPS national championship held in Gwalior. To enable the seamless integration of sports in curriculum, a Board of Studies has been constituted for the Department of Physical Education. A new Ph.D programme in Physical Education has also been introduced. During the same year, a Board of Sports was constituted for creating policies to promote sports at MU campus. The major outcome of the same was the introduction of sports quota and scholarship programs which has already resulted in admitting 8 students in various courses.

Airtel switches to recycled PVC SIM cards – partners IDEMIA

Gurugram (India), February 29, 2024: Bharti Airtel (“Airtel”), one of India’s leading telecommunications service providers, in partnership with IDEMIA Secure Transactions, today announced that it has switched from virgin plastic to recycled PVC SIM cards. This is in line with the company’s commitment to encouraging the adoption of circular business practices. IDEMIA Secure Transactions, a division of the IDEMIA Group, is a leading provider of payment and connectivity solutions for financial institutions, mobile network operators and automotive manufacturers.

 An industry first in India, Airtel is the only telecommunications service provider to switch to recycled plastic SIM cards. With this migration, the generation of over 165 tonnes of virgin plastic will be limited which will further reduce the generation of over 690 tonnes of CO 2 equivalent in one year.

 This migration is in line with Airtel’s continued commitment to reducing greenhouse gases and promoting circularity with supplier partners and other stakeholders with the aim of encouraging them to reduce waste, recycle and reuse products.

In line with this commitment, some of the key initiatives at Airtel include promoting energy efficiency, utilising open- access green energy and adopting renewable energy across operations, as well as building a climate resilient network, resource efficiency and waste management.
