Pristine Logistics bids for DLI, aiming to become leading private sector container train operator in India

Pristine Malwa Logistics Park Pvt Ltd (Pristine Malwa) and its holding company Pristine Logistics and Infraprojects Ltd have entered into a share purchase and shareholders’ agreement for the acquisition of Distribution Logistics Infrastructure Private Ltd and its group companies (DLI India). The agreement has been entered into with AIM (London Stock Exchange) listed Infrastructure India Plc (IIP), the holding company of DLI India and DLI Mauritius. Under the agreement, DLI Mauritius will sell 100% of the equity of DLI India to Pristine Malwa. Pristine Malwa is already the holding company of listed entity SICAL Logistics Ltd (Sical).

On completion of the transaction, which is subject to fulfilment of customary conditions precedent and approvals from DLI India’s lenders, Pristine Malwa will hold 100% shares in all logistics firms of IIP in India. The consideration for the acquisition shall be a mix of shares in Pristine Malwa and cash consideration, which shall be finalised at the completion of the deal on the basis of customary adjustments. The transaction is expected to be completed within 60 days, following which Pristine Malwa will be the holding company of both Sical and DLI India. This is likely to turn Pristine Logistics into the largest private sector container train operator in India, with a terminal footprint spread across most of the significant catchment areas.

Sical, an erstwhile Café Coffee Day Group company was acquired by Pristine Logistics, through Pristine Malwa, through a Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP), following which Sical got relisted on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in October, 2023.

DLI, on the other hand, owns Integrated Logistics Parks (ILPs)-cum-Private Freight Terminals (PFTs) in Nagpur and Bangalore. Another ILP is under construction in the Palwal region of NCR. It also owns 120 acres in Chennai besides holding a warehouse facility in Hassan, Karnataka. DLI is a category one CTO license holder, owning ten container rakes currently. These are operational at its Nagpur facility. DLI, with its regional and head offices in Bangalore and Gurugram, is into a host of logistics services involving container train operations, Indian Railways wagons handling, running of Inland Container Depots (ICDs) and bonded warehousing that would help Pristine group expand its presence pan India further.

The acquisition of Sical earlier this year and this move had turned it into one of the largest private sector container train operators in the country. The company has its headquarters in Delhi and provides end-to-end logistics solutions with its large number of container trains as well as Inland Container Depots (ICDs), Container Freight Stations (CFSs) and freight terminals. Not only does the Pristine Group handle containerized cargo for neighbouring countries, it also operates rakes in the domestic circuit. Already on an expansion mode, it is now exploring the Gati Shakti Terminal (GCT) Policy of Indian Railways to accelerate terminal presence.

Under this Policy, Pristine Logistics recently won bids for GCTs at Rewari and Kanpur along the Dedicated Freight Corridor network. The company already operates a rail-linked ICD in Nepal and recently announced a partnership with Summit Alliance Port (SAPL) – listed on the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges – to explore possibilities of developing rail-linked ICDs/CFSs in Bangladesh.

Following the acquisition by Pristine Malwa, DLI will seek to leverage the operational experience of Pristine Logistics, fast-track its growth while becoming part of a larger group. This would result in significant synergies for Pristine Logistics, Sical and DLI.

Development Alternatives – 26th trialogue2047 Discussion on Circularity in Action Plastics Management for Cities of the Future

Development Alternatives

Development Alternatives (DA) hosted the 26th “trialogue 2047” throwing light on the urgent need to integrate Circular Economy principles and Resource Efficiency into urban governance. The “trialogue2047” brought together key stakeholders of the sector on one platform. Shri G Asok Kumar, Director General, National Mission for Clean Ganga was the keynote speaker of the event; Dr. Lakshmi Raghupathy, Former Director, MoEF&CC, Government of India and Visiting Faculty, TERI School of Advanced Sciences; Mr Prabhjot Sodhi – Senior Program Director (Circular Economy), Centre for Environment Education; Ms. Paramita Dey, Head, Resources and Waste, National Institute of Urban Affairs were the esteemed guests who held the thought-provoking discussions on Plastics and possible solutions.

The discussion reached a consensus that the best way forward is to bring change/ discipline at a personal level to adopt circularity. This is an effective way to shape a Sustainable Environment while envisioning cities of the future. Circularity is also vital in cities for achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12) and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11). Circular practices in the cities, aligned with Climate Action (SDG 13) by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, underscore the importance of Circular Economy in fostering an eco-friendly and inclusive world in line with the SDGs.Over the last few years, India has taken positive steps in prioritizing circularity and resource efficiency, shaping a sustainable development agenda for a greener and more resilient future.

Mr G Asok Kumar, Director General, of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), in his keynote address, emphasized on the importance of circularity in daily life with examples from the “Catch the Rain’ campaign and the need for management of waste that flows into our river and pollutes the. He introduced the concept of the 5th ’ R’ which is ‘Respect’ for water, which is the lifeline of cities. Circularity is only possible with people’s participation and better utilization of resources are needed.

The discussion around the LiFE- ‘lifestyles for the environment’ lays the foundation for imbibing and promoting circularity in our life by emphasizing eco-conscious choices and responsible consumption. Through LiFE, not only India leads the way to sustainability by promoting environmental stewardship, emphasizing the importance of conserving resources, reducing waste, and safeguarding diverse ecosystems for a more sustainable future but also focuses on circularity for action to make a difference in the lifestyle of individuals and communities.

The trialogue focussed on the need for capacity development of ULBs and behavior change in plastic value chain stakeholders to enable system transformation for effective plastic waste management at city level. This involves raising awareness through education about the adverse impact of mishandled plastic waste. Additionally, the need for enabling citizen-led initiatives focusing on reducing, reusing, and recycling plastic waste was thoroughly discussed. The discussion also explored ways in which the informal sector can be integrated into the municipal waste system for social and economic benefits, and overall sustainable practices of the city. By fostering such initiatives, communities attain a sense of ownership and will display active participation in mitigating the adverse environmental impacts of plastic pollution.

Resource efficiency and circularity are pillars for shaping a sustainable environment while envisioning cities of the future. Circularity is also vital in cities for achieving Sustainable Development Goals, such as Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12) and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11). Reducing greenhouse gas emissions embodies the importance that Circular Economy has in fostering an eco-friendly and inclusive world by aligning itself with the SDG 13 Goal (Climate Action).

Dr Ashok Khosla, Chairman, Development Alternatives, stated “Resource efficiency and circularity are the environmental pillars without which our cities can never hope to be truly sustainable. Adopting circular economy principles ensures that resources are streamed back into the economic loop, significantly reducing the stress on our virgin resources. Our national policies and city governments must work with the integral participation of communities and businesses to transform the very systems by which their infrastructure, housing, transport, utilities, and waste management are designed, implemented, and managed. Only thus can we hope to bring about the effective synergies needed between sectors such as transportation and livelihoods or between sub-sectors such as plastics and demolition wastes.”

Rita Dhodapkar, Science Secretary and Principal Technical Officer at CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, “The manifest of collection, sorting, and processing of post-consumer & post-industrial plastic waste (PW) enables and accelerates the transition to a circular economy for plastics. Development in advanced Recycling infrastructure, innovations in manufacturing, creation of new materials, design, and recycling technologies are the pillars of circularity meeting the goals of SDG 12.”

Dr Heinz Schandl, Senior Principal Scientist, The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, Australia, “A national, coordinated approach is important as we are dealing with a complex problem of plastic waste. We must integrate regional solutions into a national framework and encourage the research and startup community to collectively come up with solutions that can be scaled up to help solve the problem of plastic waste in India, Australia, and even globally.”

Cisco Validated Designs for AI

Effective utilization of AI has emerged as a top priority for organizations around the world. At the same time, unfamiliar application stacks and infrastructure patterns create challenges for IT teams being asked to support these initiatives. To offer partners the simplest and most scalable solutions to help customers get their infrastructure AI-ready, Cisco has collaborated with leading ecosystem partners — including NVIDIA, Intel, AMD, NetApp, Nutanix, Pure Storage and Red Hat — on Cisco Validated Designs (CVDs) for AI use cases. These solutions build on the success of proven capabilities and existing IT processes, helping to accelerate customers’ journey to AI without adding unnecessary risk or new silos of operations.

New Observability Ecosystem for Partners

Cisco development partners are seeing significant business value in the Cisco Observability Platform and are actively building modules around five critical themes: Business Insights, SAP, Networking, MLOps and Sustainability. This new vendor-agnostic observability ecosystem helps customers fulfill their specific observability needs, facilitating an environment where they can get value from observable telemetry.

New Cisco Security Suites

Cybersecurity threats are not only becoming more prevalent, but they are also becoming increasingly complex. Partners and customers alike need simpler, outcome-driven solutions that help them strengthen their security posture against accelerating threats. To address this, Cisco is introducing new Security Suites to provide a more integrated, predictable, and economical way to buy and consume Cisco’s robust portfolio of security products. Centered around three critical use cases — User, Cloud, and Breach Protection — the suites will improve security efficacy, enhance the user experience and boost return on investment. They are designed to work across multiple clouds, private infrastructure and built to be interoperable with other tools and systems.

9th November 2023: Inspira Enterprise, Inc. (“Inspira”), a global cybersecurity services organization is proud to announce that it has been positioned in the Major Players category in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Cybersecurity Risk Management (CRM) Services 2023 Vendor Assessment (October 2023, IDC Doc # US49435222e).

The IDC MarketScape evaluated vendors, taking into consideration criteria that included Geographic presence, Sales presence, Customer base, Revenue, and CRM services capability.

According to the IDC MarketScape Report, “Cybersecurity risk management services continue to evolve not only in value-added service offerings but with making CRM a key component in overall business risk management. This set of services can play a role as a strategic capability enabling organizations to highlight threats and the risks they pose to the organization and drive this strategic capability into ongoing business strategy.”

The IDC MarketScape also notes, “IDC also believes CRM programs can be powerful and effective because of technology automation and orchestration integration, strong processes, and trained risk management professionals.”

Commenting on Inspira’s strengths, Philip D Harris, Research Director, Risk & Advisory Management, and Privacy at IDC stated, “Inspira is a managed cybersecurity services provider as well as a cybersecurity services provider. Inspira’s customers recognize the quality of their managed services and are willing to take the very next step with the company to shore up their cybersecurity programs. Inspira has also hired several talented staff from senior management to the technical ranks that have come from the cybersecurity and consulting fields and, in a brief period, created the beginnings of a powerful services offering.”

Delighted with the recognition, Chetan Jain, Managing Director, of Inspira Enterprise said, “We are indeed honored by our acknowledgment as a Major Player in the IDC MarketScape for Worldwide CRM Services. The importance of investing in Cybersecurity Risk Management by organizations of all sizes in today’s digital era cannot be emphasized enough. Inspira offers a unified SaaS platform called Digital Cyber Risk Management in the Box that provides automated, continuous, and real-time security risk assessments with digital asset and attack surface management, mapping of regulatory controls, quantification and prioritization of risk, risk management, and remediation with end-to-end visibility, governance, analytics and reporting to optimize and automate the organization’s digital risk posture.
